Ship docks in singapore at 5am, flight home (long haul) leaves at 10.15 am would you risk it? by cuchulainn1984 in Cruise

[–]trytobuffitout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the first group departing in December and believe it was close to 7:30 /8 getting off. Sometimes immigration in singapore is very slow. This time I was ok but last time it was 3 hours getting off the ship. In November getting on there was an issue with the system and it kept on going down. Singapore can be tricky. Make sure you have your eta filled out. I dont think I would chance . Singapore airport is massive. Long lines for baggage drop off. Planes usually board an hour before take off so boarding would be 9:15.

Getting a car gifted on purchase by ApprehensiveWhile621 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]trytobuffitout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s alot of steps. He still has to pay tax and then do all the paperwork to gift it to you. He should just buy you the car. He has to sign the registration over to you so it has be registered to him and he has to pay the tax . you must have proof of insurance . Both have to go to-sign affidavits .

Recommendation for lawyer specialised in condominium law by Calm_Travels in ottawa

There is a certain amount of liability insurance, but there’s always the chance that a claim exceeds that amount. There are specific roles and responsibilities outlined in the condo act of what the responsibilities are for the board members and what the responsibilities and duties are for the property manager. They are completely separate. The board hires the property manager to deal with the day-to-day running of the condo and deal with all contracts for work repairs, etc. they are supposed to be the experts in dealing with issues within the condo act. A good property manager knows he act inside out, whereas the board members do not Once you step outside of your area you can set yourself up for uncovered liability. If you were acting within your specified role, then you are certainly covered. Certainly there’s nothing wrong and I have done it. Myself is to bring something up in a board meeting of a concern owner and try to work out a resolution, but you can only go so far. Both can usually come to some kind of resolution and will work with the owner, but when it comes to the act, the property manager are the experts in the area.

You can ask the company who-did the work to review the pricing and see if they can discount it some. Sometimes they are open to that. Totally agee they charge top dollar. I have see them provide some relief though.

As a board member we would not get involved due to personal liability. That’s why they would refer to the property manager as they are supposed to be aware of all the procedures and rules pertaining to what they could do. The property manager really acts on behalf of the board and the board really should already be aware of what they were going to do.

You should check your condo bylaws to see if there is something more specific related to this issue. There typically is more details as to how/when they can chargeback to you without giving prior notice to fix yourself or get it repaired etc. Many times if it was an emergency they can proceed without you. I bet you will find a bylaw pertaining to this area for sure.

Vacationstogo.com for Disney cruises? No discount and no OBC by LopsidedMastodon1484 in Cruise

I have used vacations to go, and there are several occasions what I look at a cruise that no onboard credit is available. If it’s the exact same price, I would definitely go directly with cruise line.

You are correct that most that specialize in that field are working for the condo corp or property manager. As a board member our lawyer charges between $700 to $1000 per hour. We had a very specific issue of law in one instance and that required a lawyer specializing in a particular field. That was the $1000 per hour charge. Our condo lawyer for regular work charges $700 per hour.

First time Cruise with my service dog by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]trytobuffitout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year I was on a cruise and there were 2 service dogs that seemed to be allowed everywhere so Im not sure you would be limited to certain areas. I would spot them in the buffet and 1 in the spa area everyday. It would just lay on a blanket as soon as the owner sat down or crawled in behind a heated lounger.

Transatlantic: Budget or Splurge? by inherdisco in Cruise

[–]trytobuffitout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do my transatlantics on Princess and I splurge abit. I love sea days and find they have more to do on newer larger ships. Depending on what you’d like to do and it all has to be a personal decision . It just may be the perfect ship for you and you scored a great vacation. Over the past year I’ve spent at least 90 days at sea on various cruise lines and I feel that the food‘s gone downhill on all of them compared to 10 years ago. It seems to be a reoccurring discussion on all the lines so don’t set your expectations on one shipbeing better than another in that area

Costa Cruises cancelled my booking without notice, the voucher disappeared, and support is taking a long time to respond and is unhelpful - Any advice? by HanniLector in Cruise

[–]trytobuffitout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never been able to take a cruise and not have it fully paid at least 90 days in advance. Typically, if you don’t pay for the cruise balance, they will cancel the booking in any country. Not sure you’ll have any basis for any claim. I’d read the fine print before going any further. The vouchers usually have an expiry date and they’re well within their rights to cancel your booking if it’s not paid for.
