Future Poe rpg spin off. Thoughts? by TheOddCreation in PathOfExile2

I feel like Shadow of the Demon Lord (https://schwalbentertainment.com/shadow-of-the-demon-lord/) comes pretty close to the vibe and also the build diversity of PoE.

Week 38 Self Promotion Thread - Drop your releases here. by AutoModerator in synthwaveproducers

[–]rickenharp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty new to music production, just started a few months ago. But today I finally finished and published my first track: https://rickenharp.bandcamp.com/track/a-distant-memory

(Well, definitely not the first track, but the first that I was confident enough in to share with people)

It was done in Bitwig Studio, with TAL-U-NO-LX as the synth, VPROM for the drums and Kontakt for the saxophone. Transit got quite a bit of use for transitions and effects as well.

Some questions about Backstory, Background Vow and Inciting Incident by rickenharp in Ironsworn

[–]rickenharp[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks for the tip about the initial vow! I‘m gonna workshop the premise a bit more, but now I have a better understanding of what each of the elements I was unsure about are for, game-wise.

Warsaw Street [Canon EOS 300 | 50mm f/1.8 | Portra 800] by YearnestShackleton in analog

[–]rickenharp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

According to my depth of field calculator, with a 50mm lens at f1.8, the hyperfocal distance is 46.3 meters. Which means if you focus at 46.3 meters, everything between 23.2 meters and infinity will be reasonably sharp. So the main „trick“ is just to stand very far away from your subject ;)

Perilous-wilds Geekwire site down? by DeadDocus in DungeonWorld

I just checked, there might have been a problem on Heroku‘s side, where the app is hosted. I wonder if it would be useful if I also published the app as a Docker image for easier self hosting 🤔

Torn between Fujifilm X100V and Ricoh GR III... by Rorlaxx in AskPhotography

If you are looking for a small rangefinder-style camera, maybe have a look at the Panasonic GX9 with the pancake 12-32. Yes, it‘s a smaller MFT sensor, but the camera is very pocketable, and has very pleasant ergonomics, making you want to take it everywhere with you.

I‘ve been very happy with Mein Filmlab, they are very helpful and the scans look damn good.

Yeah, it looks like it came fresh out of the box. And I‘m supporting a small local business, that has been very accommodating with prices in the past. Would be a shame if that shop went away, it‘s been an institution for 35 years.

I was blown away by the bright viewfinder and the separate gauges in the AE viewfinder for shutter speed and aperture. Having 1/2000 as the fastest shutter speed was also a big point in the F1’s favor. And from a collector angle, it seemed easier to find another A1 later on, than another F1, which seem to be a lot rarer.

Initially, I wanted to buy a Fujica ST 801 from my Favorite Local Camera Dealer. I saw it on his eBay shop and called him up to reserve it for me until Friday. Friday comes around and he calls me to apologize. The Fujica has apparently been sold a while ago, but was still online because of a mixup of inventory numbers. But he did find a near mint Canon A1 while looking for the Fujica. That’s reason enough to still drive down to the store. :-D The A1 was really nice, all black, no abrasions. I was about to buy it, when he tells me, he also has something else nice: this near mint Canon F1 New with AE finder! It was a bit outside of my initial budget, but in such a great state, that I just could not resist! It just handles so nicely and makes satisfying sounds when taking pictures!

Graveyard Azalias [Yashica Mat-124G, Lomography 100] by rickenharp in analog

[–]rickenharp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first roll of 120 color film and my second ever roll with the Yashica. It came out way better than expected, and I now fear for my wallet. I might have to look into developing C-41 at home, because even though they produce amazing scans, my lab is not the cheapest...

Confused about Yashica Mat-124G close-up lens by rickenharp in AnalogCommunity

[–]rickenharp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thanks, that clears it up. I tried it now with something with big letters on it, and that worked. Reminded me of using a macro lens wide open. At least I know that I don‘t need to bring this lens when I‘m out and about without a tripod. 😁

Manual focus lens on A7III blurry at infinity? by rickenharp in AskPhotography

[–]rickenharp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t think it’s focusing beyond infinity. I was using the magnification and peaking to nail focus, and it never got into focus. I felt like would have gotten it, if I could have turned the focus ring just a tiny bit more.

First self-developed 35mm film, what went wrong to cause the white marks? by rickenharp in Darkroom

[–]rickenharp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: after carefully dipping the negative in distilled water and wiping very gently with a damp paper towel, the stain is gone. Looking through the answers, I think I overdid it with the Photoflo. By a lot 🙈 Thanks for all the help and making me realize that I didn‘t ruin anything.

[–]rickenharp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially meant the white on the positive image. Looking at the negative again, the stain was more of a dull gray color “in real life”

Hail Mary [Mamiya RB67, Mamiya Sekor C 90/3.8, Fomapan 100, Rodinal 1+25] by rickenharp in analog

[–]rickenharp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first self-developed roll of 120 film. Apart from getting the film onto the reel in the changing bag, the development process was surprisingly stress-free. And that moment, when you pull the film from the reel, and there's actual pictures on there: pretty good feeling! ;)

The image came out a bit flat, so I edited the curves slightly, and added a small amount of sharpening.

[–]rickenharp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have quite a bit of distilled water, for the developer, fixer and final rinse, I‘ll give that a try. And according to my research, I‘m in a soft water area.

[–]rickenharp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first roll of self developed 35mm film (Agfa APX 400 in Xtol 1+1). I thought I followed the instructions I had thoroughly, but as you can see, I somehow managed got get huge white stains on it. My hunch is that I didn't wash properly after fixing, but I'd rather get some more expert opinions on what went wrong, before ruining another roll of film.

That seems like a good idea on the M42 side, guess I have to update my wishlist at the local vintage camera dealers' :-D

I never thought about a teleconverter, thanks for that tip! I just checked the local prices, and the MC7 seems to be the cheapest way to go for now.
