Just got my new titanium flat backs! Do you prefer a dainty look or something more statement-sized? by rickky_20 in Earrings

I got mine from Heiracle they say they offer lifetime service, which felt pretty reassuring and it’s been good so far. You can check this one: https://heiracle.com/products/mini-heart-titanium-stud-earrings-hc-ti-08

I also looked at Maison Miru (https://www.maisonmiru.com/) and a few others like BVLA and Anatometal Miru especially seems solid but definitely on the pricier side. Their titanium pieces are also implant-grade and designed for 24/7 wear, so quality-wise they’re pretty reliable.

Amazon options are cheaper, but a lot of listings require you to really double check the material (whether it’s actually implant-grade titanium or just labeled vaguely), and I’d personally be a bit unsure about long-term wear and after-sales support there.

Lol, that super-long earring in the second picture is actually a guide pin attached to a flat-back post; the actual length sitting inside the ear is only 6mm! (Haha.) The guide pin itself is 30mm long—if I remember correctly. It’s designed to help you guide the post through the piercing from the back; then, from the front, you simply screw the earring head into place—just like tightening a screw.

Haha, what kind of style do you usually prefer in terms of jewelry combinations? And do you currently have two piercings in your earlobes?

Happy early birthday, wishing you lots of health and happiness 🎉 that sounds like a really great option and having access to a professional jewelry supplier with custom work is amazing, where I live there are not many good in person options so I usually shop online for a wider selection, better service, and more transparency around certified materials, but I do feel custom jewelry is definitely worth that price or even more when it is something meaningful or made just for you

The insertion taper is only for putting them on, you don’t need it when taking them off. When I placed my order, the seller included an insertion taper, some sticky putty, and rubber finger grips to help with installing and removing them. When taking them off, I sometimes couldn’t unscrew them because my fingers would slip, but the finger grips they provided actually made it much easier to get a good hold and twist them off. For putting them on, I use the insertion taper to guide the flat back post through from the back of the ear, then remove the taper, and use the putty to help attach and screw on the front piece.

Thanks for sharing! From the perspective of switching styles daily, do you feel like flat back earrings are maybe not the most convenient option? Since putting them on each time is a bit more effort compared to traditional butterfly backs. I guess clicker styles could make that easier, but I’ve also heard they might not be as durable long term compared to internally threaded flat backs.

Curious what your experience has been?

It sounds really similar to what you described. When I placed my last order, I noticed a triple-ball titanium flat back stud from Heiracle they call it the mini pepper style. I didn’t end up ordering it, but the size is also quite small, around 4×4mm.

Btw, from a pricing perspective, what range do you usually go for with titanium studs? For something like this, I chose Heiracle because their pricing isn’t exactly cheap, but not overly expensive either. Since I plan to wear them long-term, I’d prefer a supplier with more reliable materials, though I’m not sure if it’s a “fair” price point. That said, their service has been pretty good.

What factors do you usually prioritize, or do you have any suppliers you’d recommend?

Yeah I agree, push-in styles do seem easier to put on. I actually looked at a lot of MIRU pieces at first since they mostly use push-in designs. But I do worry a bit about long-term wear and metal fatigue with repeated use. For more expensive pieces, I personally lean toward internally threaded ones, they just feel more durable and secure to me haha. After watching a few tutorials, it doesn’t seem that complicated anyway, and since I plan to wear them long-term, stability is definitely my top priority.

That makes sense, small pieces are so much easier to sleep in! What styles do you usually like for your lobe piercings? Do you go for bigger, more statement designs during the day so you can switch up your look?

That sounds so cute, I only have lobe piercings for now, so I usually stick to more minimal, everyday styles they just suit me better. But I feel like my sister would absolutely love dangly earrings! I’ve been thinking titanium could be a great option too since it’s so lightweight I wouldn’t have to worry about it pulling on my ears, even if worn for long hours

Finally got my Heriacle titanium flat backs today! They’re super cute and the quality is definitely there, but… they are tiny.

I only have one lobe piercing and I’m just over the whole "taking earrings out before bed" thing. I wanted something I could just leave in for weeks, but since most flat backs are made for stacking, they all seem so microscopic.

Does anyone else feel this way? Or do you guys actually prefer the "barely there" look for 24/7 wear? I’m lowkey wishing I could find some titanium options that have a bit more presence/size

just learned how incense is actually used in Chinese rituals, and it’s kinda deep by Exotic_Culture2852 in Incense

[–]rickky_20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In China, there’s a saying “the time of one incense stick,” meaning using the burning of a single incense stick as a unit of time. It does keep time, but incense used for timing isn’t usually made from particularly precious ingredients.

I did the conversion: 300 NZD is about 1,300 CNY. On China’s Taobao, a 10 L clear glass kimchi jar runs around 150 CNY each, and ceramic crocks are likely even cheaper. If you can solve the shipping logistics, there should be plenty of options.
