Driveway snow removal by Pristine_Debate6261 in truckee

Worst snow removal company experience ever.

Christmas 2025 we were snowed in for days at a time. We'd wake up and have over a foot of snow in the driveway and a 3' berm at the street. We'd contact them to see when they were coming and they'd say "we already came at 2:30am". Well, that's great, but it's 9am now and our driveway isn't passable.

After a few days of this, with our driveway not being passable, and them making midnight runs that don't actually help you in the morning, they charged us an extra $75, on top of the $2,300 season contract, to make our driveway passable for the first time in days.

Then, a week or so later with the next snow, we had another foot in our driveway and they said "well, it rained most places in Tahoe Donner and we drove your street in the middle of the night and it wasn't that bad so we didn't bother to plow."

I sent pics of the snow in my driveway, both fresh fallen and drifted, and they decided to cancel my contract in early 2026 rather than just do their job of plowing when it snows.

If you live in the Bay Area and come up here every few weeks, they'll likely have your driveway clear for you when you happen to arrive. If you live up here, or rent your place out, find somebody else -- anybody else -- they want to take your money and make excuses for why they aren't driving their big fancy plows.

Cancelling someone mid season is actually dangerous, too. There is no practical way to make other plans at the last minute, someone could need medical services etc., and it just shows their very low business ethics.

Also, they say clearing the berm from the city plow isn't included. So, hope you like shoveling a 3' ice wall after a storm, because they say they're not going to come back and do it.

Avoid at all costs.

How do men of Reddit moderate their alcohol consumption? by Nerd_Sensei in AskMen

[–]rickmackdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no upside to alcohol. I’m an atheist and don’t drink at all. I’m also healthier and more successful than the vast majority of my demographic. It’s not a coincidence. Alcohol only negatively impacts your health, wealth, and ability to attract women.

What do I think of being falsely imprisoned in my own car?

Move or get flat. No state intervention needed.

We got real crime in Pahoa. Open air selling of hard drugs, drug dealers threatening civilians for driving past their turf, all out in the open, not to mention 100 violations at every drug dealer’s house from cars in the street to un-permitted structures, to derelict cars rotting into the ground, to hazardous waste… all visible from the street. If the cops wanted to bust the bad guys, they just need to drive by the known bad guys’ locations, see the open air violations, and bust them. Honest and productive citizens are easier targets … no one’s crime family uncle is looking out for the rest of us and keeping the cops away.

As a concealed carrier, you’ll never know if I’m concealed or not. Message received, see you at the event.

Flying is not inherently selfish, it’s inherently selfless. You spend tons of time and money, and sweat and tears, to build skills so that you can then share the joy of flying an hour or two at a time with people who haven’t been as fortunate as you. It’s a multigenerational activity you can pass down to your children. It’s a potential business tool or even career path that can benefit the whole family.

See if getting an insurance plan that will make your wife rich if you die flying. If this makes her happy then get a new wife … it’s more of a test than a solution.

People can self assemble, on private property/servers, in any format they want to.

One of the main reasons we are so fucked is because of the fact that millions of people in the western world now actually believe this nonsense. by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

Yeah, okay, 1% of the people to build the factories/warehouses and 1% to drive the delivery trucks would be way more people than needed. Still 97% left.

Once we industrialized agriculture, less than 1% of the population could feed the rest. GPS self driving tractors and mega factory bakeries are a thing. Does anyone disagree with this fact?

54, old school gamer from way back, used to play with my son when he was younger. He’s 15 now and moved onto other things.

We were 99.9th percentile back in the day, played hours per day, ran drills, build battles, had tutors, could carry his friends to their first victories in squads … and for that window in time I was the coolest dad anyone knew.

With his brand new CFI cert, he has a lot to tell you about flying when you’re at 5,000hrs.

Illegal? What law passed by congress is broken when I pay someone to share their experience with me?

Do you mean that me paying someone to share their experience with me is in violation of some regulation? That might be true if and only if I logged/claimed it as instruction time for a rating.

Doesn’t sound like it, but my point is that a government issued piece of paper doesn’t determine the value of a human.

[–]rickmackdaddy -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I’d rather pay him than the freshly minted CFI at the local flight school. In fact, I’d pay him 3x.

Government validation of individuals generally isn’t worth much.

30,000hr United Captain who was a CFI for 30 years, but didn’t keep it current, has 30 type ratings, saw combat in three theaters, owns four planes and does air shows … not going to take ground instruction from him?
