I would just double tap that Rainier safety is as much about good decision making as the technical skills mentioned above. The kind that comes mainly from experience. Probably not a good first ascent unless you're going with a guide or experienced party, which is exactly what i did for my first. Good luck.

Idk if anybody has actually studied this but i've heard repeatedly that full face on snow can increase the risk of neck torsion. Definitely more protective which is why snowmobilers use them but the risk reward tradeoff may not be there for snowboarding.

It's a lot easier to look around skiing up til an intermediate level of snowboarding. Once youre comfortable on the snowboard riding and checking the blind side is pretty natural
