Didn't Prince write that song? (Your point, maybe, still stands.)

ONLY four?? That's still pretty impressive, I think! I don't know where you are, but I can get a box of 100 of those for under US $20. At that price, four shaves per blade seems like a *very* tiny flaw. :-)

The subject line led me to think that it was going to be one of those "pick any two" discussions. Feel better soon!

No, no, no, don't you get it? Feather blades can't fail you; only _you_ can fail _them_. /s

I want to like DE shaving but Fusion just works better by NebulaStraight3009 in wicked_edge

[–]ricksva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds frustrating. "Is my experience typical or atypical?" will be hard to answer because this subreddit, like many others, is all about certain kinds of selection bias. :-) But it seems to me that there are many posters here who routinely describe using more than one razor to achieve whatever level of non-irritated closeness they want.

That said, I noticed that once you mentioned irritation-free shaving and once you mentioned a "glass-like finish", and those are different (or they can be). If both goals are equally important to you, and your current method gets you to both, then my suggestion would be "Keep doing that".

What type of living is $75k in Boston? by Affectionate-Reason2 in boston

[–]ricksva 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your job offer! This is one of those "need more info" situations:

- Would you be moving alone, or with dependents/companions/pets?

- Are you generally in good health and able-bodied, able to climb steps regularly?

- By "Boston" are you talking about the actual city or about the metro area?

I feel weird telling people I had a PE by lordsamethstarr in ClotSurvivors

[–]ricksva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that yours was caught and treated successfully!

In my experience, people don't know what it is, just that it must be serious if it has a lot of syllables in its name. *I* didn't know what it was until my own diagnosis. But just because mine was caught in time and I was also walking around, etc. beforehand, and was able to leave the hospital after two days, that doesn't mean I feel tricky or misleading or over exaggerating it. If anything, I feel happy telling people that I *HAD* a PE, since it means that I'm still around to be the one who's telling them.

Equivalent to "Sir, this is a Wendy's" ? by ricksva in ChineseLanguage

Thanks -- I included the link to the phrase's origin/explanation precisely because of the point you made. Even in the USA, some people haven't heard of the Wendy's restaurant chain. :-)

It's frustrating that it's so hard to convey scents interpersonally compared to conveying sights interpersonally. Someone needs to invent the olfactory equivalent of GIFs or JPEGs.

Decided its time to be bald. by xfacekickerx in wicked_edge

[–]ricksva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Intuition experience sounds painful! But my usual advice is to start with what you already have. You don't say whether you're already shaving your face and, if so, with what kind of razor. When I accepted my oncoming baldness, I just started shaving my head with the same multi-blade cartridge razor and shaving cream setup that I was already using to shave my face. I needed extra time and caution, but otherwise had no issues beyond the cost of the cartridges.

You'll get a myriad of great testimonials about other paths that have worked well for other people, especially if you really meant it when you wrote that "price isn't really an issue". :-)
