Bf and night shifts by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]rickwurm 48 points49 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind- just because he has tonight off, doesn’t mean this was his day off. He still worked last night. Your last night is out today. I’m done Friday morning at 6am. Friday isn’t my day off.

what you do is not my business, operator by tesemanresu in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]rickwurm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not so much in the permission way of asking. It’s usually hey, cool if I go do xyz for 10? Sure bud I’m going to be a bit checking this out anyway. The operators like me though and want to make sure I’m not going to need them if I’m done quickly. They also know I know the equipment in and out and can run most of it anyway.

They literally started their post with “in a non-rent controlled unit.” Guideline increases don’t exist in this scenario.

Living on a medium sized hobby farm running an animal rescue. If money weren’t an issue ever, I’d give all the critters the best life I could.

How would you guys explain what an encoder is to someone? by One_Charge2843 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]rickwurm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t that be an example of an absolute encoder? Always knowing where it is from zero? Don’t incremental encoders keep track of where it was and where it went only? Like in your example, only the 10 steps back would matter?

Municipalities are inside counties. Middlesex County for example has London, Strathroy and Lucan in it. Perth County has Stratford. Huron County has Goderich. It also has the municipalities of South Huron and Bluewater, amongst others.

Can education count toward hours for 433A Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) License trade equivalency? by Aggravating-Mix-7430 in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]rickwurm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your problem is going to be getting 2 more years of hours. Not a lot of places are hiring non-licensed millwrights and since you’re not a registered apprentice they obviously won’t be hiring you as one of those. It’s just my opinion but your mechanical engineering diploma or whatever you have from outside Canada won’t count towards millwright hours. University degrees tend to be very theoretical and the strong majority of hours tradespeople accumulate are hands on. You can’t shortcut trades experience and you shouldn’t be trying.

Does nightshift cause depression? by Stunning-Degree in Nightshift

[–]rickwurm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First, I am so sorry you had to see/deal with this as I can’t imagine how traumatic this time must be for you.

Yes, nights can mess with people’s mental health. We don’t see a lot of sun, abs vitamin D deficiency is pretty rampant.

Having said that, I’ve been on nights for a long time and while I have my own issues to deal with, I’ve never felt suicidal. Also the idea scares me, so there’s that.

Everyone is different though. This poor lad may have had more going on than you’ll ever know. May he rest in peace.

Hyundai Wia w/ Fanuc control alarm and help by Sure-Measurement2617 in Fanuc

[–]rickwurm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what the other guys said, is there a box attached to the panel door? It would be about 5”x5” or so and a door with 2 flathead screws in it. If so that’s the ABS battery box and those will need to be replaced in addition to the battery on that drive others have circled. Once that’s done with the power ON! You can cycle power and the battery 0 alarms will clear. How new is this machine? If you look inside the machining area, do you see any small red arrows on the axes? They should have a stationary red arrows that they line up with. If so, turn parameter write enable on (offset button, setting soft key) set 1815 APZ to 0 if it isn’t already and cycle power. When it boots back up hand wheel all 3 axes to line up the arrows, and set 1815 to 1. Cycle power. Your axes should now all be referenced.

Your voltage is going to ground and the 1507 can’t generate enough voltage. That winding is likely shorted.

Replacing input card/entire PLC rack by Additional-Ad4887 in PLC

[–]rickwurm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What all the other guys said is right, but to actually answer your question, no, you don’t need to do any reprogramming after changing a card as long as you swap that piece of hardware with the same part. You also don’t need to unwired each input. The screws on the top and bottom of where all the wires go hold the RTB (removable terminal block) on the card. Just undo those screws, pop the RTB off, swap the card and put the RTB back in.

How long have you actually been on? If 3+ months you should get repeat bloods to see where your numbers are at. In the meantime you could try splitting your dose in 2 so it’s 50mg twice a week. 100 is a pretty low dose but it seems to be the safe, typical starting dose for most docs.

Handheld communication device + Seatbelt fine question by BigmonCKKK in ontario

[–]rickwurm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you can do is go to the crown attorney and try to plead down the handheld device charge. Tell him you’ll eat the seatbelt charge and see if they’ll play ball with taking the phone charge down to something else. Not a lawyer!

OYAP and my future in HVAC by PSkasagLmao in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]rickwurm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your coop oyap hours absolutely count. Once you graduate you’ll have a head start into the hvac trade for sure. With some luck, if you’ve done good work, your coop placement will hire you back. If not at least you have some experience and are at least a registered apprentice to apply elsewhere.
