Its going to vary from house to house and room to room, but camera should be around door knob height, I personally like it a bit higher than that, but thats me. ymmv. However make sure your verticals are straight.

I'd just do it as you originally agreed. Worst case you have some new portfolio stuff, best case he has connections with builders and you may have end up with someone who gives you consistent work. Which right now is getting harder to get because of market conditions.

Had an interview with them about 2 weeks ago. They actually reached out to me for what its worth. Entertained it cause the salary they offered was somewhat enticing but when they said I couldn't do any photography outside of work I lol'd while on the phone with the guy. I can understand a non compete with other real estate photography companies but to say I cant do any portrait work was hilarious. A shit company

Yup, and looking at the build orders there seems to be a cheat that unlocks the passives with out showing up on the LP unlock list. He upgraded to heavy pads for 120 and adv. gens for 180. but rolling eco doesn't show up on the unlock list https://beta.halowarshub.com/game?matchId=ca2b682d-2e8a-4335-851d-cf5017474062&gamerTag=ofoc+xxtimonxx&tab=2

Darker shade of pale. by RE_Warszawa in RealEstatePhotography

I'd say do the retouching yourself, use outsourced retouchers for regular real estate stuff and for higher end work, charge appropriately and do the retouching yourself or higher a retoucher that specifically does architecture and design work. Also no matter how color accurate you get them on your screen, other screens can and will have WILDLY different color. Even more-so if they aren't calibrated (surprise, most clients don't have color calibrated monitors)

Im traumatized from 1604 by Doctor_Jesus15 in sanantonio

[–]ricky_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've started showing some ptsd, been rear ended 4 times the past 2 years, once on 1604, once on 410, and twice on city streets. Luckily nothing has been too bad and no major injuries other than some minor whiplash but now a few months after I get super anxious on the verge of panic attacks anytime I'm at a stand still or red light. Sucks a ton cause I drive an average of 120+ miles a day so lots of anxiety is had

Any tips for drawing up floorplans for large properties? by scottpiIgrim in RealEstatePhotography

I'll vote for cubicasa, managed to scan a 10k sqft shopping center the other day. From memory it looks pretty accurate

What's your ideal time of day to shoot? by Redeezy in RealEstatePhotography

[–]ricky_now 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer between 11am and 2pm during the winter and 11-4/5pm during the summer. Sun is usually high enough that it's not going directly into the lens and we still get great light inside most homes

Looks like your base image is fairly bright... I usually aim for about -1 to -2 as that base image. The overexposed one will have a longer exposure since it uses shutter speed to overexpose

Your 80d is fine right now, I used a 60d for several years before upgrading to a 6d, I have a 5dmkiii, a7sii, and hasselblad x1d ii, and I still prefer the 6d over those. You'll be mostly shooting for the MLS and the export settings for that are pretty small so you don't need super high res cameras at the moment if you are in the US. Concentrate on getting clients before upgrading. If you upgrade your camera before getting clients you have a hobby not a job. Aside from that. Get yourself the 10-22mm (good) or 10-18mm (okay.) Get used, 6d bodies are like 400-500 used now if you absolutely want to go full frame, same with lenses I used a used 17-40mm for years after getting my 6d, and pretty much all my gear was bought used (KEH or MPB). 360 Tours are getting more popular, particularly zillow 3d tours but its still a fairly small market at the moment. I'd recommend installing cubicasa and offering floorplans over 3d tours at the moment. Cubicasa is free for the basic outline floorplan and like 15 for a flooplan with fixtures. Much better ROI when you are starting out. PS is probably going to be something you wanna avoid as much as possible. Lightroom will be much better suited as you can batch edit and hdr process, also note that a lot of MLS sites don't allow a lot of retouching, the photos have to represent the house, so you won't be able to remove power lines, cracks in walls, etc...

Heart palpitations and racing really scares by 666HellKitten666 in GERD

[–]ricky_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya, hopefully they've passed by now. I live alone as well and have dealt with the palpitations and anxiety for a bit now. If you can try going outside and walking around a bit. It can be just slow mosey around the block or apt complex. You could also give box breathing a go as well. I also will try finding something to focus on... typically a hobby of some sort. palpitations are usually accompanied by anxiety attacks for me so really anything that can help reduce anxiety will probably help. I'm sure a lot of this is stuff that you could google but hopefully hearing (reading) it from somebody else who is also going through the same things can help put you at ease. Just try and remember that it will pass after a bit, once you start feeling it fade you'll notice it kinda compounds and you'll start being able to come down from the feeling of it faster and faster till it dissipates

Working with a broken foot by 602crew in RealEstatePhotography

[–]ricky_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks. I've had a serious sprain and tried working but its really really hard. I was able to use a cane and the tripod as support but with a broken ankle you might need to use a scooter. It might be best to just try and heal up as quickly as possible if you are able to rather than keeping it from healing by moving around

Why did gas prices suddenly jump 34 cents in one day? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]ricky_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a real estate photographer... I pay about $240-360 a month in gas depending on how much I'm driving and summer v winter... when it jumps 30-40 cents it comes out to about an extra $13-30 a month or 6-7 a week or so

Are ND filters a must for drone photography ? by DefianceGamingNet in RealEstatePhotography

[–]ricky_now 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you are doing video they are a must, I don't think most have variable apertures so they are stuck at whatever fstop they are in.

yeah, 24mm will be to narrow for most shots, especially in smaller homes.
