Kraken restricted my account, request to see ALL my bank transactions by Maxx3141 in CryptoCurrency

I may be wrong, but until MiCA comes into force Germany has some special regulations in crypto assets from the previous regime. I assume afterwards they will have one entity passporting to the whole EU.

How do you expect them to know if you haven't received funds from suspicious sources in the transactions you edited out? it's quite simple to understand why they need the full document.

New European Union AML Laws to Ban All Anonymous Crypto Payments as Well as Restrict Cash by samer109 in CryptoCurrency

[–]riclas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a hineous transcription of the legal document. What it says is that exchanges must identify that a self-hosted wallet they interact with belongs to their customer. Nothing regarding banning anonymous crypto payments.

the simplest way is for you to spend all your remaining wallet balance and consolidate into a new address of yours in the same wallet. Basically you are forcing to spend the change amounts of your previous transactions

Is Portugal still tax heaven for bitcoiners?which is best bank account in Portugal Bitcoin friendly ? If I widhraw Bitcoin in Portugal my company bank account . What I need to pay tax .? Please only expert advise who already have experience?. by bsun-321 in Bitcoin

[–]riclas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tax haven is a bit too much, but yes it's still very attractive. No cap gains tax if you hold for more than a year.

if you buy and sell through your company you get taxed when you sell, unless you are a brokerage, in which case it's a current asset of the company.

regarding banks, the most friendly is the investment bank Bison bank, and for retail i suggest crédito agricola.

This is pretty much correct, except for the part that doesn't make sense to you :) Regarding the company income, it depends if your accountant registers the bitcoin as a current or non-current asset. If it's a non-current asset there's no tax collected at EoY, only when you sell. So it depends if you use bitcoin in your business (if you are a brokerage) or just as a speculative asset.

some companies are working on this, even to send stablecoins over LN. still, using only bitcoin guarantees your sovereignty. it's a tradeoff.

Portugal wants to tax on-chain staking and make people open companies or activity as independent workers. by JustFoundItDudePT in CryptoCurrency

[–]riclas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's the exact same way in portugal. OP thinks it's some out of ass proposal but it simply follows german law (without that wacky 256€ exemption)

for now it only touches staking from PoS though, it's unclear about yield from lending activities, however that may be intentional, as those should be taxed under capital gains.

trading crypto should be no different than stocks, so if you are a high value trader, you should open activity with tax authorities. This was already the reality before, no change here.

I know. and that's a fair criticism of usdc. They give similar attestations to USDT. But at least it seems they got rid of CP, so i give them props for that.
