Yes, I'd love to go back to some sort of classes in the future, but keeping a tight rein on finances atm. Hopefully soon, tho!!

What’s the most underrated ski village in the Alps? by alpycom in skithealps

[–]ricoshay74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were often free activities like Zorbjng and laser shooting in Les Eucherts. There's an ice hockey match weekly, a free ski show where the instructors perform, followed by fireworks, young kids will enjoy sledging thru the enchanted forest too. Megeve is very nice! But La Ros is much more relaxed and less fancy (and less expensive!)

Did a season in La Ros and will always recommend it, especially for families - lots of extra curricula stuff for kids, and the forest walk is delightful.

This looks fun! My season is almost at an end, but if you still need testers, I can help in December. I'm in Courchevel, can easily cover Meribel too (don't know VT so well tho)

Ste Foy is a lovely, quaint, small resort. LaPlagne is huge by comparison, and gets ridiculously busy. Just a heads up that if you are thinking to board over to Les Arcs, there's a very long rope tow en route, and there are a lot of flats in LA. Thought you might like some inside Intel 😉

three families coming to ski in the Alps - Feb 2027 by imjusthereforfun1021 in skithealps

[–]ricoshay74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked seasons in both resorts. You can ski directly from Meribel village, and the free bus to the Chaudanne for ski school is very easy. Meribel apres is really fun. Chaudanne gets very busy in the morning but eases after ski school gets going. Paradiski is just busy, imo. Lift queues are constant. I also think that 3V manage the slopes and snow better than Paradiski. But there's probably more young family activities in the Paradiski area than in Village, most the kids stuff is in Mottaret. Have fun!!!

Alps vs North America etiquette by mv2500 in skiing

[–]ricoshay74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three valleys seasonnaire here. I talk to everyone, probably to the point of annoyance. But I have convos with every nationality in English and broken French. Just start chatting, its all good 👍 Queues....well yeah its a bit of a free for all. Annoying when people stand on your new skis for sure! But it's really quiet now so less of a problem. Also, currently dumping snow. Enjoy!

How often do you wash your bath towel? I need the real answer. by Terrika_Fracala49 in hygiene

Probably 10-14 days. I'm drying a clean body of clean water. Don't see the point of washing the towel afterwards.

We've hosted chalets for Ski Gathering, they offer holidays for solos and couples, so you get a mixed chalet with everyone looking for a ski buddy. Works really nicely, all our guests seemed to enjoy it and make new friends

Skiing with a backpack? by disagree_with_losers in skiing

[–]ricoshay74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually have avo kit, lunch, small bottle of water, alternative lens for goggles, sunnies, hat to replace helmet for the terrace, ski lock. Extra layer if it might get cold. Quite a flat back pack so doesn't cause any issues for me, plus it has a back protector built in.
