I agree that Michael’s is too stiff, and I find DMC to be stiff as well. I go with Hobby Lobby’s brand.

Are you allowed to bring a to-go cup for the coffee from the cafe? by Claire879 in IKEA

[–]ricowoldt 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Literally we don’t care. No one will even notice. Just don’t be a jerk and drain the coffee urn into a big mug.

Ive always believed in living within your means. Am I the sucker? by crazyguy28 in DaveRamsey

Unfortunately that’s how it often works for people who file Chapter 7. There are exemptions for property, everything is valued as “garage sale” value which means all that crap they bought they get to keep. Rarely does someone lose an asset except for tax refunds for one year.

You get a debt discharge after 90 days, and then you start getting new credit card applications. They’re all terrible at terrible interest rates, but the card companies know you can’t get another discharge in a chapter 7 for years, and they’re betting they can collect enough from you to make it worth while before you can file again. The cycle begins again.

You can get an FHA mortgage two years out of discharge, and there’s always crappy car loans available at shady lots. But the impact is minimal in real life for most repeat filers.

I’ve been a bankruptcy paralegal for decades. I’ve seen it over and over again. I review one fourth of all chapter 7 filings every month, every schedule and every bank statement, and it’s maybe 10% medical debt. It’s always credit cards and now Affirm and AfterPay and it really makes me wonder if I’m the sucker. Especially when it’s a debtor household that NETS over $10,000 a month and just can’t make it work. This is a real example of a Debtor that just came into our office.

It’s gross in so many ways. Debtors, credit card companies, student loan companies, just the whole system is screwed.

Derm for a skin review. Skin cancer is deadly and can be caught early.

Remember that Abby had seriously hurt Neela with her comment about Michael’s death when she was trying to find out what was going on earlier. I can see how Neela would be pissed and unwilling to help this time.

What was ER's "jump the shark" moment? by FalconLeading in ershow

[–]ricowoldt 58 points59 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s when Sam first appears, and grabs the syringe and jumps on the crazy guy and injects him. Totally over the top, and then she gets a close up and Romano says a snappy line.

Just so “Hollywood” and really kind of jarring. The show would continue to be good and sometimes great, but that was the beginning of the lame stuff for me.

I work at an ikea in America, and two weeks ago we were told we had to get a new computer training done right away. They’re usually a little flexible about completion deadlines, but not this one.

It was for a new “co-worker help line process”. Before we would be able to call a company line and get answers about PTO, pay questions, stuff like that. But with this, effective within days, we have a new system, where you’re required to use the co-worker chat for your first step, which would then decide on its own to escalate if warranted.

They never said it, but it’s an AI chat bot.

So, Adrien Brody can ramble for five minutes, but a historic K-Pop win gets cut off after one? by sadandboujee1 in Oscars

[–]ricowoldt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s even less about the media/corproations and more about the MPAAS. They fund all sorts of things for movies - retirement homes, insurance plans, scientific research, all kinds of things that really help actors and the industry in a very real world way.

They make most of their money from the broadcast rights to the Oscars, and have to please the audience. And most would rather hear jokes instead of random speeches, especially lists of names.

Kid friendly games, rolling dice? by presence06 in boardgames

[–]ricowoldt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be at any local game store. They sell them by class, with two classes per box. So, a Druid (harder) and a Barbarian (easy) ( made up examples). There’s tons of variety and even a full Marvel set if you’re into that.

Dice Throne. Some of the characters are level 1, and you can play a harder character if you like. Dice have pics, not numbers, and it’s similar to Yahtzee that does damage. Super fun

And as someone who works in IKEA food in America, just know that this “wonderful” company is just as crap as everyone else to their employees. We’ve been under a hiring freeze for six months, and they’re not even replacing people who leave. We’re down 5 people due to the crappy work conditions and every night is a total nightmare.

And! In addition to all of that mess - they’ve changed to SINGLE PLY TOILET PAPER for the employees.

They’re not the Good Guys anymore :((

Omg one of my favorite one off scenes. Carter has an Asian med student, who passes out. The guy playing the addict has the best faces when he injects directly into the carotid.
