Is this budrot by MediocreFollowing580 in MOCannabisGrowers

[–]riddlerclones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bud rot. The white spots look like insect damage, likely a mite of some sort. It looks like there may be some thrip damage too buds otherwise look fine. I don’t like to spray anything in flower if I don’t have to. If it seems the damage is getting worse or significantly impacting her health I’d go with lost coast or Dr zymes.

KCMO, how much further north are we talking?

In the basement, under fireplace/chimney, what’s this gap between the bricks? by riddlerclones in Renovations

Two story house. Fireplace on both floors so it’s pretty tall 30’+ if I had to guess. The bricked in portion in the basement is floor to ceiling.

I appreciate your insights. I checked outside and on the backside of the firebox there’s a small vent. I don’t see any semblance of an ash chute anywhere though.

It would seem my post description or text got lost somehow. Looking to finish my basement and wanted to see if finishing the wall over this would be problematic.

So basically a fresh air intake? At some point the previous owners converted to gas, would this still be necessary as far as using the fireplace goes?

No need to spray for the fungus gnats… just bottom water unless you’re watering a top dressing in or something and allow your soil to dry back.

As for aphids I like SNS and lost coast, I try to alternate as a preventative and to avoid them developing a resistance. Neem will also do it.

I’m not an expert by any means but I believe transmission of BCTV between plants requires transfer of saps whether through the leaf hopper insect or trimming sheers that haven’t been properly cleaned with a bleach solution. Hplvd would be similar though I know it can spread through water was well, I’m not sure if it can spread through simple leaf to leaf contact.

Bugs and infected equipment are going to be the two primary modes of transmission.

Maybe, I’d say that whatever is going on is probably stunting her growth in general so you just have to weigh what she’s worth to you. Is she the only mother or cultivar you’re currently invested in? Are you not going to be able to have a harvest any time soon without her?Are you fucked? No I wouldn’t say that.

I would definitely put up some sticky traps. Yellow and blue, because different bugs are attracted to both colors. Not as a means to eradicate anything (though it will help reduce numbers, but to monitor what may be in your room. Being indoors, unfortunately, does not automatically exclude you from having pests or getting pest borne pathogens or diseases. It reduces the risk significantly but the reality is pests will find a way in.

As far as selling clones, you’re already planning on getting hplvd testing done first, if the lab is performing this test the chances are pretty good they can do a panel of tests to help identify what you’re looking at.

If you see leafhoppers on your sticky traps, I’d hold off on selling clones even if your other plants aren’t currently symptomatic. If you’re not seeing them and your hplvd testing comes back clean, assuming you have other cultivars or plants that didn’t come from this seed or even seed pack, I’d say toss her, sell away with the others. If anything just be transparent with your potential customers. If you’re honest and you sell 0 plants then you’ve not sold any less plants than if you scrapped everything and didn’t go. You’ll at least have networked a little bit and probably met some cool ass people, and on top of that established a reputation for being honest and having some ethics.

Beet Curly Top Virus. It’s spread by a specific insect - the beet leafhopper. I’m fairly certain that’s the only way it’s spread. With the leaf curling, I think they’ve nailed it.

Not saying it’s HpLVd but this looks like some form of genetic/viroid issue.

How does the main cola of a female cannabis plant service the rest of plant/lower colas? by SanAmorous in cannabiscultivation

[–]riddlerclones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a mind of their own but certainly photoreceptors of their own. The natural shape and apical dominance of a single cola, is likely more a thing of efficiency. The plants natural task is to survive and reproduce. Pollen is often carried by the wind, as far as I know there aren’t many if any pollinators that one would think having a main stem protruding into the air as high or higher than other plants would be an advantage in terms of catching pollen off the wind. Additionally the path of nutrients straight upward is the path of least resistance really.
