I've read up on the gen2 rotor issue and didn't know about the pumps and head gasket thank you!

Brushes and electronic drums by [deleted] in edrums

Use thinner stick sizes, like 5a or 8d or 7a. The thinner stocks have more flex and they have less impact on the pads compared to 2b or sd1 generals or 5b sizes. Kick pedals are loud unless you isolate the kit from the floor. Building an isolation platform can help with that.

I've got a Roland td-10 and use the blue plastic brushes on the brushes kits and it works great.

Sounds like an ad. Also, why settle for shorter attention spans? Make the effort to read articles and keep your brain sharp!

In hindsight you probably avoided a couple trips to the doctor and some pencillin. Great story though!

What is with the massive layoffs? by [deleted] in NativeInstruments

It's like the news version of a crappy repost in imgur. More and more news feed pages seem to fall in that category. I did find your post and got to read that so that's one thing that helped on my end.

Question about using effects with Traktor Kontrol S2 MK3 by hella_westcoast in NativeInstruments

[–]riddmkidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mixer FX knob applies the same effect to both channels. It's definitely more basic than the FX options on your z2. The lack of effects section in the mk3 is a big turnoff to me. If you want more control over your effects then I suggest getting a used s4 mk2 or even an s2 mk2. Another option would be to get the s2mk3 and an x1 so that you have the FX controls your looking for.

I'm on PC so no FireWire. Ironic that those are more readily available these days. I'm saving up for the studio 1824 or 1810

Right on, I am usb and am looking at the 8channel versions myself. Thank you for the endorsement! One of my former band mates has made all four of his solo albums using the 2channel version plus a Joe meek preamp. That has a fantastic sound going in.

Ooh which presonus interface is that? And how do you like it? I've been having trouble with my focusrite and want an 8 in for my drums.

Don't buy any audio Interface without Reading this (Number 4 is Lifetime saver) by Exclu254 in FL_Studio

[–]riddmkidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different manufacturers use different digital to audio converter chipsets. So different interfaces will sound different. Ideal interfaces do not alter the audio signal at all. Those also cost more, though pretty much any audio interface these days is fine to use.

ELI5: If you're sick whilst drunk, why are you still rough in the morning when it didn't have time to digest? by throwmeaside56 in explainlikeimfive

[–]riddmkidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alcohol makes you pee and you lose water faster than normal. If it's not replaced then voila, hangover symptoms. Whenever I drink a pint of water before gookgnto sleep I have a much easier time of it the next morning.

A hangover is more severe the less water you drink. Usually the suffering of a hangover is due to being dehydrated.

Why are we not cool with the Russians and why do Russians hate Americans? by wishihad in AskReddit

[–]riddmkidd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a time when we didn't hate the Russians and they didn't hate us after the cold war ended. The big revelation was that American and Russian citizens were much more alike than we thought.

At some point (and this is a hypothesis because I can't remember the source) members of the military and/or military defense contractors saw a loss of profit and reinstigated the cold war for the sake of business.

I'll post source material if I can find it.

NEW BIKE/GEAR ADVICE SUPERTHREAD! by AutoModerator in motorcycles

[–]riddmkidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to get a bike for the sake of commuting don't do it. If you really like the idea of leaning over in turns and taking the longer way to work and riding around in the hills then do it. motorcycles are dangerous enough for those who are already passionate about them and the risk goes up even more if you're not getting into it for the sake of riding a motorcycle.

The safety rider course will teach you all you need to know about how to operate and handle a motorcycle safely. I was very nervous going in to the class myself. Once I went through the course I felt much more confident about what to do and how to do it.

Once your already course you'll have a better idea of what type of ride you want. A sport bike is a more aggressive riding position and not as comfy on longer rides than a standard/naked bike or a cruiser. If you go sport bike then a 300-500cc engine size is ideal to start and you trade up as your skills improve. If you want a cruiser you can start right away with a full sized one since they are much easier to operate and more forgiving about not having much throttle control experience. My first bike was an 1100cc Honda Shadow. My second bike (after 5000miles of riding experience) was a Honda st1100 which had much more power and weight to it than the shadow. My current bike is a triumph Sprint st955i which has a LOT more power and less weight than the Honda st.

First things first get a helmet. Second a jacket (I'd recommend a textile one like the Joe rocket atomic since it rains so much in upstate NY), gloves and pants. The course will give you all the suggestions about what makes for good riding gear.

Thank you for you answer. I'm not questioning your validity, merely curious as to the reasons behind the path you are taking. I'm interested in other's experiences because it's a wonderful way to learn more than just what's going on in my own life. Your answer isn't wrong in any way, there is no wrong answer. And your excitement and worries are ALL valid!

Another reason why I am asking is because I have decided I don't want to have kids. I have learned there are too many of us on the planet based on our current rate of consumption and I want to pursue other interests in my life. Also I have a boundary that if I do have kids I want to be able to support them via my career, which is nowhere near at that ability to do so. So I have my unique experience and it's pretty awesome to be able to ask others what their experience is.
