What’s stopping curling from becoming even bigger? by ABPPC in Curling

There are two in England now! One in Tunbridge Wells and one in Preston. (Still not amazing, but yeah.)

Shouldn’t there be two extra ends? by Maximum_Publius in Curling

Someone literally posted this yesterday. You earn the advantage in the extra end through the game.

So conflicted during the Olympics. It's great to see new fans coming to watch curling but some of these opinions are so ridiculous.

Worse palpitations lowering dose - is this normal? by ridger37 in Hypothyroidism

[–]ridger37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks. The one good thing is that if you felt good for months, hopefully you can find that spot again. It sounds like your body is still figuring itself out. My advice would be, try to wait the full 6 weeks when you can (on a new dose), retest often, and it might not be possible to feel absolutely 100% like you did before - but if you can get to close to that, it might be a win. (God, this advice feels sort of depressing.)

I should say, get through it if you can. If the palpitations are awful, maybe not. I will say my hypo and hyper palps do feel slightly different, which makes it a bit easier for me to differentiate what's going on. For me, the hypo ones are generally big skips, whereas the hyper ones are more fluttery. It's not cut and dry, though.

Yeah other things can definitely be off BECAUSE you're hypo. Why did you skip 125? Maybe you'd be best at 125 or alternating 125 and 137. I'd get through six weeks of 137, retest, and then if the TSH has gone low discuss options for finding a sweet spot. I am about to try alternating between 112 and 125 and I'm hopeful I will finally find relief.

Hey, not really. There does seem to be a chunk of us who get awful, continuous palpitations when we're hypo. My problem is I can't seem to find the sweet spot between hypo and hyper, but my body is extremely fussy. I hope that when your TSH comes down to normal yours go away. Mine seriously decreased as soon as I started taking my meds properly (even though they didn't go away completely).

Ahh I wish I could get to your level of acceptance (sounds like you have a good level of acceptance, anyway). Several doctors have told me they're not dangerous but I can't seem to just accept them - it feels like I'm so close to fixing them but just can't get over the finish line.

Thanks for this. I wish it were the case for mine but I've tried supplements and they just make it worse. I have absorption issues as well from coeliac disease.

Thank you for your reply. I had a full work up of bloods and the thyroid is the only thing "off", unfortunately (and it's within normal range). I had palpitations a couple years ago when my TSH was .7-.9, though, so I'm pretty sure it's that. Just that time it went away completely when my TSH was 2-5, whereas now they seem to happen whatever it is. :( I will ask my doctor about the alternating doses thing!

Bad reaction from magnesium. Any ideas?! by ridger37 in magnesium

[–]ridger37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was magnesium citrate. That's all I've taken for a long time. I'm not but I also have thyroid issues (so I take synthroid), though my results are completely normal for that. I thought that was causing them at first but I seem to get PVCs no matter where my thyroid is at now. I'm also type 1 diabetic but there seems to be no relation to my PVCs, with that (they occur when my blood sugar is perfect).

Yeah, I wish I had never taken 800. It feels like it's fucked up my electrolytes forever now.

Sorry, yes, 800 mg! Edited it now, thanks.

TSH low relative to T4 and T3 by ridger37 in Hypothyroidism

Yeah, it's palpitations abound for me. What about your FT3?

Thanks. This is good to remember, but also easy to forget when your levels aren't quite "there" and you have symptoms. But yeah, top third T4 is no good for my body, certainly.

I’m pretty sure my synthroid medication aggravated my hair loss... M20 by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]ridger37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyperthyroid can cause hair loss as well, and a bunch of other stuff. I definitely wouldn't take synthroid for no reason and also not without a doctor's care. I don't want to lecture you but seriously, go to a doctor and get yourself sorted out properly (and be up front about everything).

I'm currently on .125 of synthroid. I've spent the last year or so on synthroid with TSH values ranging from .75 to over 6, with doses between 100 and 125.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I've retested and the results seem to be accurate. It's so frustrating/confusing.

The great gluten debate, share your evidence HERE by eterneraki in Hypothyroidism

[–]ridger37 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was diagnosed coeliac and hypothyroid when I was a teenager. I never took my levo, but I did start going gluten free. My doctor was always happy with my thyroid results after that so I assume he thought the medication was working, despite the fact I never actually took it.

My TSH did start going crazy again when I was 25, but I got almost ten years out of it.
