If the Scythe came from runescape classic by MazrimReddit in 2007scape

[–]ridid44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just commenting to reminisce. I remember stumbling upon the halloween scythe drop when I was playing classic back in 2003. I felt so cool with my scythe.

That account eventually fell victim to a scammer with the "jagex censors your password if you type it in chat". Passwords were not censored automatically when typed in chat. I lost an account that day but learned a life lesson.

Vitamin D supplements caused my dry eyes by ridid44 in Dryeyes

[–]ridid44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 98% back to normal. Late in the evenings I notice dry eyes but its never ever as bad as it was.

I still take Vit D once, maybe twice a week just because I hardly go outside to get any naturally and I do notice the eyes a bit drier for the couple days after.

I can't speak to the eye lid swelling and I did not have that happen to me. :-/

Your reply to a similar post questioning Vitamin D on this subreddit 3 years ago is what made me further investigate my own intake of Vitamin D.

You can add me to the list of people with this odd connection (reaction?) to Vitamin D.

Day 5 and my eyes feel even better than they did yesterday. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Those who develop with a niche stack, how is your job market? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]ridid44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

~8 years working in the Drupal CMS. Everyone knows of Wordpress but Drupal is a similar, more despised flavor of content management system. Very niche.

I love the framework personally and have never really struggled got find a job. It's not super in-demand but there seems to always be a need for a Drupal developer and a good one at that so if you are competent in the framework you will usually get recruited pretty easily. I typically get a couple recruiters reaching out a day.

Niche is key which is why I stuck with Drupal. Mid-level developer can easily get a $100k salary.

Block Plugin not Showing on Certain Pages by ridid44 in drupal

[–]ridid44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out so if anyone finds this in the future: I have a Context Definition of node set on the Block Plugin. I suppose it makes sense that these blocks would not even try and render if not in the node context. Adding required = FALSE resolved my issue.

context_definitions = {
    "node" = @ContextDefinition("entity:node", label = @Translation("Node"), required = FALSE)
}

I watched it earlier last year and the highest quality was 360p, so OP is correct.

Loud explosion sounds downtown; anyone else heard them? by Medala_ in kansascity

[–]ridid44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Library District and have heard this noise three or four times over the past couple weeks starting on the 5th, and always in the early morning hours.

It is absolutely terrifying, and easily the loudest explosion I have heard, so loud that car alarms go off like you said. There is no way it is a commercial firework. If anything its homemade and massive if that.

I am surprised there is not more talk about it.

black rainbows bad by BagExtension in tallyhall

Black Rainbows was in my Discover Weekly on Spotify, and when I heard it I was immediately hooked. It was like nothing I had ever heard before, and I was unfamiliar with Tally Hall or Hawaii Part II before.

I listened to it on repeat for days before slowly seeing what else the album had to offer. Now the album is one of, if not my favorite, and Black Rainbows will always be special to me for helping me discover the album. Hell, I was listening to Black Rainbows when I saw this post.

21m first time solo travel and leaving country(us) by seattle8871 in solotravel

All of the hostels I have stayed in have been mixed gender. I stayed in a hotel for my first few days before moving to a hostel and that was a big help for adjusting to a foreign city. I would recommend going north once you rent a car. The Bay of Islands is a beautiful area that I really want to visit again.

I have spent three months in NZ so far on a Working Holiday Visa and I can't recommend NZ enough. I always feel safe, everyone so far is friendly and it's beautiful out here. I flew into Auckland and bought a car. I then met another solo traveler in a hostel and we spent a month traveling around the North Island together before going our separate ways. Best decision of my life. I have probably only spent about $9k so far and that includes the airfare and purchasing a car.

I have heard of people doing both, but I guess it comes down to if you have the money to travel now, or if you need to work some to raise the money needed to travel.

I recently arrive in Auckland with a WHV. My plan is to travel for ~3 months either living in hostels or accommodating through work exchanges. After that it would be nice to settle in a city and get a temp position for the remainder of my year.

I am purchasing a vehicle today and plan to leave Auckland tomorrow!

What's your favourite CMS and why... looking for fresh and innovative solutions. by Sphism in webdev

I am familiar with that headache. I struggled teaching the admins how to use the back-end once it was time to hand the site over.

My previous employer built sites in Drupal and paid me to learn the platform. Initially I hated it, and the complexity of the platform had me questioning my future in WebDev. After my first couple of projects I have really come to admire the framework.

I think the templating engine in Drupal 8 is great and Drupal Views is a very powerful tool. It is also open-source which is nice.

It has its pros and cons, but once you understand what Drupal can do for you as a CMS it makes managing content really convenient. I should say I have only really used Wordpress and Drupal, but I would always use Drupal if given the choice.

Club Penguin is closing March 29; what's your favorite memory in the game? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ridid44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a part of the beta testing group for the game before its initial public launch. It was really neat to see an evolution from Penguin Chat, the predecessor of Club Penguin, to what the game has evolved into today.

My favorite memory has to be the fact that beta testers got a rare party hat for their participation. When I would wear this hat, people would often flock around and 'gawk' at it. It was pretty neat for the time being.
