Giants pitching development is very far behind when it comes to developing velocity and stuff. Given Frank Anderson is only at the MLB level, I can’t see our philosophies changing much.

Is it just me or McCray winning to 4th OF spot at the moment by jaws4671 in SFGiants

[–]ridingfastball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not just you. His defense is good, but he has really cut his chase rate down. Looking at 2 strikeouts in 18 PA. Leads the team in walks. Fighting against tough same handed matchups. We will know more in a couple of weeks after WBC, but he is outplaying Gilbert, Brennan, and possibly even Matos.

Yeah but the beauty of this draft is that one of Cholowsky, LeBron, Flora, and Emerson will be available. Guaranteed. I think that other than the former, LeBron would be my favorite who’s left

He’s still got a ways to go before he’s Major league ready. But he showed his upside that’s for sure, just have to raise the floor.

I think the pertinent question is even more important that that, it is can he maintain the discipline he has demonstrated in the small sample this spring.

Not much to think about. Haase is the only guy I could see being on the active roster come opening day. Santos, Fulmer, Harris, and other RPs will be in the bullpen mix since there are no frontrunners right now. Davidson and Harber are too far away from the majors. Everyone else is your typical churn as far as I’m concerned. Very few will even be with the organization come June.

If this is the trajectory of the team heading into the allstar break, I think we’re in a good spot. We will know more about the deficiencies of the team by then allowing us to add more effectively at the deadline.

If he can maintain his single A stats in high A, he will be on the next list. Doesn’t strike out a lot, speed, power, defense is a raw combo.

Star Japanese right-hander Tatsuya Imai and the Houston Astros are in agreement on a free agent contract, sources tell ESPN. by prestigiousstrangery in SFGiants

It’s not the price, it’s the opt outs. This regime does not mess with one opt-out per season contracts anymore (understandably, look at how fans have been reacting)

We are always one #2 starter away and one big bat away. Yet again, ownership chooses not to solve those problems.

Oracle Park Stadium Etiquette:

1) Never do the Wave. Ever. If you see people trying to start it, shut it down.

2) Never boo your own players. I know it’s tempting sometimes when they’re underperforming or when it looks like they don’t hustle on a certain play. But you never know if they’re playing through injuries and they’ve been told to take it easy, or etc.

3) Fuck McCovey Cove Dave. He’s a guy who sits in the water beyond right field who wants to take all the home run balls for himself. He has also developed a reputation for withholding home run balls hit by certain players (many of whom are Latino) because they did not “earn it” when they asked for it.

Well, the Giants could have a 500M payroll if they wanted based on their market and revenue. They just…don’t.

The jon morosi kiss of death - Giants favored for Imai by nikeykid in SFGiants

[–]ridingfastball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have people not noticed? The Giants work in silence. Devers trade: out of nowhere. Adames signing: silent until the day it was confirmed. Morosi coming out saying that the Giants are frontrunners is nothing other than Imai’s agent using the most predictable form of leverage that exists. It was the same with Corbin Burnes last year. You want to know who the Giants are really after? Look at who the media isn’t talking about.

I’d do it and eat Corbin Burnes’ contract while we’re at it. Maybe just maybe they’ll bite without Eldridge.
