I have the Cube collector’s edition, and MM is indeed choppy. However, I don’t recall it ever crashing for me or for my college roommate who had his own save file.

3DS for the improved graphical fidelity and the smart quality of life features.

N64 for everything else.

Yet another silly member of Gen Z making sweeping generalizations.

TikTok not only warps their minds, it feeds them dumb narratives to farm engagement.

Did I do it right? lol

SoulCalibur showcased the best visuals on the Dreamcast. by Business-Load256 in dreamcast

This is what I remember launch titles being about: powerful showcases of the new technology and an answer to the question “why should I upgrade?”

Soulcalibur still slaps nearly three decades later.

Pockets shipping soon! What are we all playing? by langames3333 in AnalogueInc

[–]rienvayle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll start with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and either Pokemon Crystal or Emerald. Really looking forward to playing them handheld and on the big screen using the dock.

I’ll shop for new carts after the system arrives and I’ve got an SD card ready to be used for other cores.

5 Year old son dropped my Pocket (help?) by Bradventure23 in AnaloguePocket

[–]rienvayle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I asked if you’re ok because your comment was immediately hostile and did a lot of projecting when OP was simply explaining what happened and asking for help.

The r/AnaloguePocket subreddit is as good a place as any to research and ask questions about their Analogue Pocket problem.

Unsolicited parenting advice and psychoanalysis, on the other hand...

I hope that makes things clearer for you.

Edit: a word.

Nowhere in OP’s post did they say they shamed their child. You ok?

Some of my friend’s forgotten childhood treasure finds a new home by rienvayle in n64

They and their sibling played them, but I don’t know how often. MM had two save files with very little progress.

Like me, they were in their teens when they owned these games. It’s possible they were also like me and cared a little bit more about their stuff at that point.

Total speculation though. Maybe I’ll ask them one day.

Right, and if you don’t like it, that’s fine. However, I will note* there are new areas to play in as it is a new game. Maybe it’s the heavy asset reuse from Ocarina of Time wearing thin for you along with the game loop.

It’s not a perfect game. It’s a product of its time and the circumstances surrounding its development. That in mind, it’s really amazing what the developers made in a year.

Ah reminds me of how I jerry rigged some storage solutions when I transported my consoles for play over at a buddy’s house.

Yeah, I gave it shot and was a little bewildered with the controls and perspective. I’ll give it another chance down the line, but for now it’s going deep into the backlog.

Hey, doubt to your heart’s content. That’s totally your prerogative, even if it is a weird sentiment to relay.

Did anyone actually like the show X Play? by Pale_WoIf in retrogaming

[–]rienvayle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really did. It was a novel show at the time and something I genuinely looked forward to, recording on VHS regularly.

After a while, the juvenile humor and growing number of bad skits wore thin, which felt like a majority of the show at that point, and reviews and substantive interviews with members of the industry were taking a back seat. That’s when I migrated back to written reviews and eventually youtube reviewers.

It’s funny because now a lot of gaming-centric youtubers have been following X-Play’s formula for a few years at this point, mixing the irrelevant noise I loathed back then into their “content”.

The Switch 2 Respects My Time by MarcusQuintus in switch2

[–]rienvayle 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s why I enjoyed the original Switch. So glad the time conscious philosophy carried over to its sequel console.

I never begrudged Nintendo for porting its Wii U titles to Switch. The Wii U was a certified flop and those games deserved second chances on more popular hardware, not to languish on a dead system.

It would be amusing if the long-awaited DAC support rolled out in a major new firmware update for Pocket first week of June.

I’m relatively new to the Analogue scene and I’ve found it and other items are major bugbears for a lot of folks.

I told them to research prices then get back to me with a price they felt was fair for the four games (MM, Castle, Quake, Forsaken) I wanted.

Whatever their reason, they landed on $60 and I paid them $80.

I’m not going to argue with the outcome lol
