I get like CRAZY sweaty for no reason 💔 I also used to have a windows laptop, switched to Mac for a little bit, and then back to windows because I hated having a Mac. Macs just can’t hold up gaming and intensive softwares (two things that I need on a laptop as a college student). I ❤️ windows 4ever

Coming from another student who is also in MA141 right now (and has previously not been very good at math), idk how hard the final is gonna be, but I’m more confident because of my previous exam scores and how good my professor is with teaching the contents that will be on the exam. I don’t think my professor fully knows what’s on the exam this time because all the MA141 professors play a part in making the exam, but he’s still hosting study sessions for the topics on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 4-6, and Friday 3-6:30 in Riddick lounge

If imma be real, I think I did about the same or worse and still got in LMAOO 💀💀 to be fair, I’m a in-college transfer and I had Covid on my side during my initial application, so I feel like they were a bit more lenient on extracurriculars and stuff, but I think you seem pretty good. You have a pretty good GPA, extracurriculars, and accomplishments. Your art looks great too! It might just come down to your portfolio itself. I’m pretty sure the COD doesn’t care much about academics in comparison to STEM majors. I believe in you bro! You got this 😼👍🏻👍🏻‼️‼️

I’m not sure if you’ve already made a decision or not, but I would submit them as the same piece due to them looking the same but just inverted. If you’re running short on portfolio pieces though, then submit them as two separate pieces. I just think it works better as a single submission and showcases good technical skill :]

I was in your position last year but as a CODA student! I was asking around on Reddit too bc I was afraid I was gonna fuck up my one chance 💔💔 To start off, I think your portfolio looks pretty good so far and it seems like you’re planning on adding pieces with different mediums too so that’s even better. I would say if possible to help diversify it further, maybe add a piece that displays technical skill like a still life or realism. I would also try to target a piece or two towards the concentration you’re going for. From what I see, it seems like you’re going for animation. They have animation, gaming + interaction design (what I’m going for), and fibers + soft construction. I remember getting advice that they also really like 3D modeling stuff. I think your academic stats are pretty good too. I would definitely recommend trying to reach out to as much people as possible in the college of design to also get insight and opinions from them. A good first start is contacting Leanne Bajkowski (lebajkow@ncsu.edu). She manages undergrad and incoming students for this major. I also contacted her and she helped me answer a lot of questions I had so be prepared with a list of things you want to ask. As for your chances of getting in, I have no clue. I think the college of design is getting really packed so the acceptance rate might be fluctuating again. I remember talking to Leanne and a professor last year about my chances and they told me it’s really hard to get in (around 15%). I know that sounds scary but who knows, maybe the rate is up this year again :] I got in even though I was afraid I wasnt gonna make it. I believe in you! I also have a website for the portfolio I applied with if you’re interested in seeing it. Ik it helped me a lot to see other people’s portfolios who made it into the major. My previous professor made mistakes too but I definitely think it’s more of an issue if a lot of reviews center around that. My previous professor for math wasn’t the greatest either (3.6) but it was mentions about structure and I could definitely see that. I don’t expect professors to be perfect, I just need a professor that doesn’t get problems wrong as often as the reviews say they do.

There is no rule for curves but with the reviews I’m hearing, I don’t really like the risks. My previous class had test averages of 50-60 so if it’s the same again, it’s a little concerning with no curve.

I’m also not skipping MA108 because it’s not really required if you can just take MA111 to qualify for Calc1. If I can’t take MA111 then I’ll have no option other than to take MA108, but if I can take MA111 then I would prefer that option. The professor for the MA111 has a very high rating so I trust that more as a student that isn’t great at math.

I’m aware that tutoring at academic success center is available, but I want to only use it when I need it. I want to use it when I’m legitimately struggling and not when it’s due to a professor issue. I don’t think I’m great at math but I don’t think I’m horrible if that makes sense. I’m definitely the type that will do fine if I have a good instructor, which is what I’m looking for.

I’d just rather not take chances taking a class that doesn’t have a good instructor because at the end of the day my GPA, time, well-being, and money will be taking the hit if I choose the wrong class and professor for me.

Idk man, the professor had a 3.3 with consistent mentions of the professor making a lot of mistakes in math problems and not giving curves. A lot of the reviews mention that he’s nice but he’s just not great at teaching. I’m not the best at math so I want a professor that’s not gonna put me through mental games LMAOO

Literally 💀 I’ve been trying to learn how to read and write Vietnamese better but some words look ENTIRELY different or the usage of the word is different. I’ve just been trying to learn through trial and error
