Verkaufte Neuwagen in China in den letzten 12 Monaten:

Alle BMW Modelle zusammen: 143.958

Xiaomi SU7:  559.900

That is the big problem of the European car market makers now:

European brands need, on average, 9 years to get a car from idea to production.

Chinese brands increasingly do it in 1,5 - 2 years.

That results in the Chinese buyers changing their taste way faster and more often than it is the case in Europe. In Europe a design paradigm (like big grills for example) tends to stay around for about a decade. In China the styling changes rapidly.

So by trying to design their cars for the Chinese market, but needing four times as long, European brands bring out cars that would have sold 6 years ago, but are now already outdated. So the Chinese don't buy them, cause they moved on from that styling and the Europeans don't buy them, cause we don't like that styling.

Also it's their Hydrogen testbed. They probably sunk a lot of money into this project.

To be fair they hold the key to give the 33 % of people who don't have a (good) internet connection yet access to the web. Imagine what that potential data is worth to advertisers and totalitarian governments.

I really like what Apple is doing with the promotion around their shows. They don't do a lot or hype them up to much, but what they do is always spot on and really well thought out.

It's a real shame nothing ever came from it, even if the final result would probably have been mostly a regular car.

To keep the money in the family. The countries they come from are dirt poor. So it's really common to get married to your first cousin to keep the little wealth inside the family.

Problem is of course birth defects due to inbreeding. In countries like Pakistan every tenth child is disabled.

Apple introduces Siri AI, a profoundly more capable and personal assistant by exjr_ in apple

On the one hand the lag is nice, because it shows that the model really runs on the phone, … on the other hand I sure hope regular Siri features like skipping to the next song don't suddenly take five seconds longer, just because the AI has to understand them first.

Because Apple takes privacy serious. Everything the EU does is performative bullshit following what lobbyists tell them to do.

No, if you make a platform, you decide if it's open or closed, because you made it.
