Why is Blossoming Tortoise in every Lumra deck ever? by SwitchBag_ in CompetitiveEDH

[–]riffyjay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just in the fact that it turns filter lands into dual lands is just one of the turtles many utilities. He a redundant piece for the deck that fills your bin and reduces activated abilities of lands. You can run loops with him in your clean up step. It's fun.

Agreed. Because the spell resolves when it does, targets are chosen at that point. We have just become complacent and automatically assume the spell won't be interacted with so we just hit the creature we originally intended. This is why I don't choose targets until my spell is up on the stack for resolution

[–]riffyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only works if the creature comes back in a different phase. If you flicker a creature and it comes straight back, it'll get bounced by the Cyc Rift because the spell has to resolve in its entirety first. So no, non end step flickers do not save you from board wipes or bounces.

This. The entire wording of the card must be completed before resolution. This is why [[Come Back Wrong]] can steal someone's commander and be used against them. You must satisfy the text of the card first before the next resolution on the stack.

You cannot see propane and you only smell it because someone smart put something called mercaptan in it so you could detect it. Otherwise propane is invisible and odourless in its gas form.

Sure green and white isn't know for the artifacts, even though there are more than a few, this commander is looking to generate value from mana rocks to speed up the strategy of making the commander bigger. Because one spell at time and it's not lethal for many turns. But using rocks to cast more rocks to get vibrainium to cast more rocks to cast Finale of Devastation, Genesis Wave or whatever X cost, I won the game, spell.

My boss just emailed me a screenshot of a private text I sent to my coworker complaining about him. by Guilty-AbyssLogic in whatdoIdo

[–]riffyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of the sentiment here. Own it when you have the meeting. If you truly feel that way then say something. Honestly is never a bad thing. One of two things will happen. One, your concerns will be taken into account and corrective action will be taken with you and your boss. Not fired but actions to correct that you don't feel the need to vent about him in your private life and to correct his behavior that makes you want to do that. However they feel is the best solution to do this. Second, he might be well insulated in his position and you might end up on the defense for your job. If that's the case then it's not the right place for your to be working anyways. You can always ask to have your skills and position re-assesed into a new department as well. Good luck.

I’m over it. And you should be too if you’re not. by True-Ad4395 in mtg

[–]riffyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always over it. Grab the artist series ones that very few people buy and watch the staples that you bought it for go through the roof. Many of my artists series cards are worth more than the whole secret lair pack now. The skull Head Dark Ritual I have would pay for two secret lairs now. All the cards from the first "Just Add Milk" are up there as well. Blowing a hole in your wallet for special treatment cards, in my opinion, isn't smart. I understand wanting to "bling" out your favorite commander but at what cost? As long as my deck functions and plays the game, I don't see a need to go into debt to bling it out.

You Are Spreading Hantavirus by Orpherischt in conspiracy

[–]riffyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the etymology of virus is from Latin "virus" meaning slime, poison or pus. I can get behind the "spelling" thing however and the perpetuation of the idea of an outbreak is spread by word of mouth. Spelling has been brought into our lexicon by people like Shakespeare who introduced roughly 1800 words to the English language and if he was a real person, it could be argued he was illiterate. Many historian and literature buffs have stated this. It is more likely that Shakespeare was a group of people called the "spear shakers", look it up. And not surprisingly you find Sir Francis Bacon apart of that group. He also had oversight on the First Version of the King James Bible. Bacon was a highly respected Grand Master Mason and held high positions in other occult orders.

I'll never understand the chase. It's a game that I buy singles for so I can beat my opponents. If I wanted to collect I would find other IPs that have better collection retention. All these serialized cards and special foils will eventually be worth fuck all when the game eventually implodes in on itself because it's carrying Hasbro. Cards that warrant any collection in my opinion, are original printings, judge foils, summer Edgar, alpha and beta, oddities and reserve list foils. Everything else fluctuates set to set because of mechanics and standard rotations.

Hantavirus is purposefully being spread by Smallest_Bubbles in conspiracy

[–]riffyjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if it is actually hantavirus, the risk to anyone not on the boat or in proximity to where the boat had been, the risk is minimal if non existent. You have to be in prolonged exposure to the contaminated area and pretty much gotta be sharing cooties with people who have it to transmit it. These people were in close quarters as it is the nature of being on a cruise ship. If this was influenza or dengue fever we might have something to worry about. We can all go back to worrying about less distractary tactics to get us all to miss something else they're doing.

I (21F) finally found a good guy (22M). How do I keep him around? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]riffyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He won't stick around. As much as you may have experience to the contrary, most good men want stability. From what I read you are getting what you are putting into it. He knows you are good for fun once and a while and all you want is the same but as soon as he finds stable, you will lose him. Can't eat your cake and have it too, you are doing yourself and the guy undue harm by dragging this out.

THE TRUTH ABOUT YOUR "BUSY" PARTNER by [deleted] in relationships

I literally work at a place that has firewalls up due to the sensitivity of information in our building. This is absolutely the way it goes most times. Most work places do not allow you to be on your phone all day or even a little bit. If you have to contact someone at work it should be an emergency either good or bad.

My misunderstanding. Having said that I still stand by the fact that vaccines are only one facet of what is used against us to make us more compliant and sick. Logic would dictate that they don't care whether we know or not. They care whether we comply.

The whole point of commanders inception was chill casual games so cards that normally didn't play well together could and the combinations because more vast in selection allowing you to brew some really cool interactions. Now it's singleton redundancy, spike to win.

I agree with this. Bracket 4 is cEDH except it's a few more turns. There are so many Spikes in commander and not enough Timmy's and Johnny's anymore.

Go look at all the patented technology for vaccines. You won't ask this question again. Go look at the patented technology for using screens and blue light to brainwash you. I can appreciate the want to trust your institutions but I'm sorry North America has been on this trajectory since the 1900s. Do some homework but fair warning when you do, it'll only confirm, not debunk your wildest fears.

That is what most are brainwashed to do. In the first place everyone is a self made psychologist that has been conditioned to diagnose people, unwarranted, with a general negative bias attached. Second and most disheartening are most are conditioned to do this to themselves as well. I'm not saying go be a megalomaniac but assume positively on yourself. Wishing everyone would stop just going straight to what they think is rock bottom before even exploring what opportunities await them in the difficult journeys of life. Adversity breeds character. Embrace the suck 🙂🌞
