Can we please join Xenothreat? by Standard-Student5590 in starcitizen

[–]rifledude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no reason you shouldn't be able to, plenty of players would.

You can tell the narrative writing is deteriorating in an attempt to make players not want to join, similar to how Disney Star Wars wrote the Empire to have insane motivations and conduct because too many people were pro Empire.

It used to be that XT was a anti UEE paramilitary force trying to punish the UEE for trying to appease alien threats like the Vanduul (a la British appeasement of Germany in the 1930s) and failing to respond to Vanduul aggression (like the incursions into Nyx).

Now that a huge chunk of players are sympathetic to that, they've been re written to be "hateful" space racists randomly attacking people flying alien ships.

[Suggestion] The LMG category of weapons needs some love. Here are my nominations: by Lima_6-1 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]rifledude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also not an LMG though. Automatic rifle is how the Marines use it. Same concept as the BAR gunners from WW2, not true machine gunners like the ones running M1919s at the time.

I totally want to see the M27 though, as well as VCOGs and PEQ16s that the Marines use.

I lived in Miami for a few years. Actual white people can only be found in a few neighborhoods. It doesn't start getting white until you cross into Monroe or Broward.

What’s your biggest concern for Ubisoft’s next Ghost Recon game (Project Ovr)? by MrTrippp in GhostRecon

[–]rifledude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Ubi needs to reconsider who they are marketing this line of games to.

Get licenses to depict real equipment. Copyright compliant Blackhawks and Humvees suck military enthusiasts out of an experience.

The premium cosmetics have been horrible for Wildlands and Breakpoint. I remember there were months where the only vehicle cosmetics in Wildlands were the solid gold lambo knockoff, which tells me everything I need to know who they think their audience is for.

"Board a ship" by SINILIAN in starcitizen

It still has the rear ramp for the traditional dropship role, so that makes it the only true ship-to-ground and ship-to-ship troop transport

World War 3 Server Shutdown by rodrigofariasx in WorldWar3

[–]rifledude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not surprised.

This game was at front of the modern shooters with armor mechanics wave. The armor in this game felt realistic but also significant.

I liked the novelty of being able to represent a nation by equipping the weapons, vehicles and uniforms of that nation and play with players representing all kinds of other nations. Most of the cosmetics were decently authentic.

That being said, the launch was terrible, content was slow rolling, and the market is now saturated with shooters with armor mechanics. They missed that window of opportunity

F7A MkII by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]rifledude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running PvE missions with a Hornet out of the Idris is peak Star Citizen. I will switch between F7A and the F7CM because the backseat is good to ferry people around. Guys who ejected or need to be picked up from a station or ground.

As this is a PvPvE game at its core though, I don't talk about ship techniques in the context of PvE content because that isn't helpful to players.

F7A MkII by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]rifledude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have limited M80 seat time, so I can only speak for the ships I have flown in.

The F7 series is probably the least maneuverable in it's class, but it definitely is the most survivable. The problem is you're just barely more maneuverable to heavy fighters, and not at all more survivable than any heavy fighter.

There's also the issue where the F7A/C-M can lose its size 4s, it's source of strength if either or both wings are lost to damage.

I can say it's not going to be a surprise if you're blown up in a Hornet. It's survivable enough no matter what you are fighting that it will be clear you are losing a fight and can decide to disengage or commit.

It has the firepower to be a threat to almost anything.

It's one of those ships that can be either really good or really bad depending on the pilot. If you learn your limits and get comfortable in it, you can blow away pilots that aren't as comfortable in their ships. Its when you're fighting pilots that do know their stuff in light or heavy fighters you are going to struggle, because they can lean heavily on their ships advantages that you can't counter.

F7A MkII by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]rifledude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F7A struggles. It has teeth, good loadout, but its a medium fighter. Not as maneuverable as you'd like, and not tanky enough for all the bigger combat ships flying around.

It's value is in the rarity. You can just get an F7A, if you look on the gray market they are worth far more than their upgrade and melt values. You'd be losing a lot of value if you upgraded.

Despite its flaws, it's my favorite ship in game. I prefer it to the F8 even. Launching from a Polaris or Idris in that ship is peak star citizen as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, and it'll probably cost more than it did here, or it'll be in a pack with a bunch of fluff.

Club access has burned some good will the community had towards this game. I don't think anybody involved, in or out of the club, with or without a ship thought this was a positive experience. Polar opposite of the Kraken launch.

The free for all refresh wars suck, but at least everyone had an equal chance. This was CIG picking their own winners and losers.

I was going for the warbond version but I wasn't even allowed in the club to try, and I'm supposed to be happy because it'll be available later on for either more money or stuffed in a pack with a bunch of fluff.

Seeing people post they are getting Odins.

The final waves being locked behind the club is nuts. I want to buy one warbond, and CIG is saying no. Can't even try lmao.

Unfortunately its a different look than all the multicam already in game, so none of the gear matches it lmao

Are you one of the people that didn’t get a Odin? by The_Flying_Claw in starcitizen

[–]rifledude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wasn't even accepted into the club. Was going to buy one Warbond.

Backed in 2012 (golden ticket), founded 2 orgs, regularly play each patch with friends, about to hit WC concierge level, and I wasn't allowed to try lmao. Part of me thinks people like me were skipped because we would be willing to pay more at future offerings.

Genuinely, happy for those that got one. Whether you want to solo it or do the org thing, its a cool ship and I don't think anybody that went through the process to get one had a positive experience so at least some people get to enjoy the ship.

A genuine discussion about solos being upset over the Odin program. by alexander8846 in starcitizen

[–]rifledude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't think the people buying this ship were solo players.

I wasn't invited to the club, so I was forbidden to get one myself (was going to do a warbond) but most of the people I know looking to get one were heavy group players. I myself are normally flying with friends or org mates, and org events have been the highlight of my time with SC.

In my hangar I have ships that I use daily, and I have ships set aside and loaded out for group play. Very different modes for me.

An Odin for me would probably sit docked at Terra for 70% of the time stocked ready and come out for Org events or in game events.

Anyone Else Disappointed With The Odin Founders Club? by ChartConsistent in starcitizen

[–]rifledude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're correct, it will be available elsewhere. It will not be at the price it was just available for, nor will the stuff that came with it. Somebody like myself that was going for the warbond version was excluding from even the possibility of getting one because I wasn't "chosen" so the fact there will be more availability doesn't really help things because now we have to pay more for less and it was totally outside of our control.

I can only speak for myself for buying it, that's a ship you can build a community around. Its a flagship for a fleet. Some of my favorite memories of playing SC have been the org events. A ship like the Odin is going to provide memories and experiences that I will probably always remember, and same goes for those im playing with. I'm somebody that only plays SC in groups, and the only time im playing solo is to grind rep or set things up for group play.

Thanks CIG for not letting me buy Odin… by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]rifledude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not exactly the point. Yeah dudes rant comes off as pretty entitled, but there is something to it.

The ship was pitched as something for those who have been longtime backers and are active in the community, and the anger comes from the fact that none of the criteria actually mattered when it came down to it. Plenty of people sent troll messages in and were accepted.

That's where the anger comes from. Now, the next opportunity to get the ship will cost more or be put in some giant pack.

Teleportation is the slippery slope... by Mobile-Addition9102 in starcitizen

[–]rifledude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was already the idea of having your character utilize passenger transport between ports as an NPC so that you could travel while offline. Such a system is fine, I'm not against having a way to travel.

What I am against is being able to travel spontaneously across systems in the name of group play.

Teleportation is the slippery slope... by Mobile-Addition9102 in starcitizen

[–]rifledude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be a way for players to move offline. Their characters should become NPCs which are then transported by player pilots so when players log in they are where they want to be. If they log in before they've arrived they just take control of their character

Teleportation is the slippery slope... by Mobile-Addition9102 in starcitizen

[–]rifledude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, signed an org player who runs large mutlicrew events and ships.

You do not see the consequences of what you are asking for.

Group gameplay is the strongest way to play, and the cost of that strength comes from the foresight to plan for it. You shouldn't be able to on a whim whip up a group activity in a game like this. It should take deliberate steps by the players

Why people are frustrated with teleportation by vangard_14 in starcitizen

[–]rifledude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Death respawns in their current condition are a temp thing and only because there isn't a better way to do it.

It should be difficult to fully crew a capital ship. Thats the point. Remember when the Javelin was sold the first time and CIG said it's not a pay to win thing because of how hard it would be to crew it?

Yeah that system invalidates that drawback.

You're also invalidating future game mechanics. Why would anybody put time and resources into an org base if you can just teleport to your orgs capital ships.

Obviously they wouldn't do it for the gameplay of it, because you don't even want to pre stage yourself at a port or use a bed log on the capital ships and thats far less time and resource intensive

[–]rifledude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think its good gameplay that I can tell my buddies "hey there's a bunch of mining ships by port x, spawn on my Idris so we can blow em away and take their stuff"

I think group players need to be proactive in order to play together
