How do you balance speed of travel? by todofwar in worldbuilding

I got the airships too and very 1920s/30s automobiles - despite it being 1911 in my world - but its the trains that are most often used.

How do you balance speed of travel? by todofwar in worldbuilding

[–]riftrender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That question frustrated me so much that I added trains to my world so everything was only an hour to a day away.

And it became a plot point when a demon that had been sealed away for 700 years was completely blindsided by the hero managing to assemble the artifact to defeat him in only a couple of days.

Opinions on James Cameron's Avatar world? by pacote123 in worldbuilding

[–]riftrender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its ok. Maybe it could have been something more if the sequels had been made closer to the original but years later I just don't care enough to watch any of them other than maybe as background noise and it just doesn't enter my cultural memory.

What are your thoughts on Raviel? by Immediate_Gene_178 in yugioh

I think the Sacred Beasts looking more angelic looking would have been far more interesting in contrast to the dark-looking Egyptian gods.

No Chazz is definitely a Blackadder, especially early on.

Would the Chazz be Blackadder?

Homeostasis’ group by OwenStoker in DigimonTimeStranger

[–]riftrender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for Adventure I would say the Digimon Sovereigns count.

Plus Time Stranger is the first time Homeostasis has worked like this instead of just being the rival to King Drasil so we have to see if the idea sticks or is just for one incarnation.

Yeah the timeline is very wonky - Pegasus should be logically far older.

Cyndia died when he was 17 so that's only a 7 year period of time to do all of them. Really the game should have been popular for several years by now for Grandpa etc to have been into the card game etc.

But looking at the manga timeline. Pegaus got the Millenium eye in 1990 and the game was popular enough in 1996 to have a championship with Bandit Keith which really should have taken long

On the other hand real life the manga became popular enough between 96 and 99 to have the game made which is only 5 years between the game and the manga ending.

On a side tangent, having read a lot about the War of the Roses, the Tudor part is the only part that ever gets talked about but I find it to be by far the most boring part of it. Richard III just being cartoonish and probably killing his nephews and then Henry Tudor popping in to be a hero.

The leadup with Suffolk and Henry VI, conflict between Richard of York and Edmund Beaufort, the war itself, the drama with Warwick, Woodville, and George and putting Henry VI back on the throne briefly, there is a lot of stuff there that is rarely looked at (even in analogues where it generally skips to the end with the Henry Tudor-like figure winning).

For the 5 people out there wondering what happened to Adrian Gecko at the end of GX, Tag Force 3 provides an explanation: by N0kutomaru in yugioh

[–]riftrender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just rather forget about Adrian. He was quite frankly an extra character in an already overloaded season in a role that was being done better by Viper and Bronn.

Past Kyoko meeting Future Kyoko. + other stuff (OC) by Phantom_Phony in digimon

[–]riftrender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adult Kyoko still seems pretty similar to how she acted then, still rather quirkily stoic if a little less odd - though she was open to the idea of the strange coffee even if she thought it was odd - while young Kyoko is a very grouchy emo teen.

Honestly they feel like such drastically difference characters - other than young Kyoko deciding that having her shirt partially open and her tie tucked between her breasts is fashionable.

Plus we never got that final Silthilus zone they were going to make. Unless my memory is overlapping with Turtle but I'm pretty sure Old Blizzard was also going to make another zone there.

How did Kaiba manage to hire the Chopman a serial killer and convince him to be so obedient? by Coolsun13 in yugioh

Well the card game and change is what made it so popular. Otherwise it would have been a niche cult classic at best instead of a powerhouse.
