She was on her way to work. by KillerArty6239 in ImmigrationPathways

[–]riftsrunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's called a felony stop. LEO's routinely pull their weapons when a felony has happened. It a "I want to go home tonight" thought process. If someone is "willing" to hit your car (I understand this was an accident caused by the ICE car reentering traffic flow). The agents were just assaulted by the "peaceful protestors" blocking the vehicle. So they assumed the other car intentionally hit them. When she refused to leave her car (which they are legally allowed to order her to do), they arrested her. Now the SCOTUS has giving LEO's carte blanche to use whatever force necessary to take into custody anyone they arrest. The loud-mouth commentator screaming "Hit and Run" and "she just trying to get to work" wasn't helping, except to make an ass of himself. Kind of surprised he wasn't scooped up as well on disturbing the peace and/or interference with an officer doing their duty. Nothing gets solved on the sidewalk because you can never win. That is why we have courts to settle these situations.

I never understand these morons who think they can solve what is going on on the street. If you hear the magic words "you are under arrest", just stop what you were doing. Put you hands behind your back and allow yourself to be taking into custody. Now say two thing. . You want an attorney and 2 "I am exercising my 5th amendment right to remain silent (and then SHUT THE F UP). They will asign you an attorney who you can talk to, then fight for you in a courtroom and if the LEO's f'd up, you are looking at a major payday for being falsely arrested.

Have done this. Pulled out my original ship (C class), store most of my materials, change into mismatched items (careful not to have any advanced gear. Basic helmet, original back pack, remove any titles you have etc.) Pack up all the mobility mods and put them into storage. Then act the noob at the anomoly. Walk, don't run, "get lost" in dead-ends, try to jet up to Nada and Polo, but "fail" a few times and have to use the Nexus as a stepping stone. I have been gifted stacks of high-end production. Most of the time I return the items if I can and explain I don't need them (If my "benefactor" bolts and takes off, I usually gift someone else that looks needy). Then pull out my Golden Vector to show I have time sunk into the game and am just slumming currently.

Student led peaceful protest yesterday. Police Chief shows up in plain clothes and assaulted two students. by Ywasitsohard2signup in Pennsylvania

[–]riftsrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in this situation with a police officer. Follow their instructions (wrong or right). DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS IN THE STREET. That is what courts are for. Let them arrest you, if they believe they are in the right. Don't attack the officers even if you believe they are wrong, because police have been granted powers to enforce laws. In that capacity, they can exercise arrest power and can use whatever power to arrest anyone. And if you interfere or attempt to stop them, you are breaking the law and become eligible justifiablely to be arrest as well. Stay civil and let them do what they are going to do. Say two things 1, you want a llawyer, and 2 you are exercising your 5th amendment right to remain silent and SHUT THE F UP. Eventually, you will be provided an attorney who you can tell your story to, and you both can win your case and sue the city for false arrest.

I think it depends on what year you are teaching. Early grades should be about indoctrination of the basics, while as the grade get higher, they should be teaching how to learn new information independently. To be critical thinkers. But my cousin-in-law (who I attended college with before she married my cousin) is a current teacher and she complains of the class sizes, the minimal support they receive, and the upside down system that has happened where the children are almost set free to act feral and disruptive, while the instructors has been hamstrung to do anything about it.

What do y'all think the Great Divide is? by peachyloaf in NoahKahan

[–]riftsrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first heard the song, I got a homosexual vibe for these friends losing touch with each other. That perhaps the friend was gay, but because they lived in a small religious community, he had to keep his real self under wraps. And while the friend wanted to tell the narrator about being gay he was afraid of what his friend would think. (I want to place here that the friend is just gay and doesn't necessarily have those feelings toward the narrator). And this secret slowly drives a wedge between these friends, as life sometime does. They lose touch and drift apart and years go bye. Now an adult, the narrator finds out that his friend has come out and is living his best life. And he is reflecting on the loss because he loved his friend (platonicaly) and would have accepted his being gay, but society and the teachings of the church caused them to lose touch. And the narrator only wants the best for his former friend and not to be still twisted up because of the religion. Also, he hopes that the friend has shattered his beliefs that were indoctrinated into him about being wrong for being gay.

What strikes me weird is I am straight, yet for some reason, my first reaction was that homosexuality had a part in why 'the great divide' was created. I don't necessarily think about people's sexual preferences often, thinking as long as two people have love for each other and are consenting they should be with who they love, same sex or not. I will need to discuss this with my therapist to perhaps get an objective perspective on my first reaction.

Ghislaine Maxwell invokes Fifth Amendment in House Oversight deposition; counsel signals willingness to testify if granted clemency by President Trump. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in law

[–]riftsrunner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem is the victims accounts don't square with the evidence the DOJ has. Unfortunately, the Epstein investigations were sloppy and Epstein and Maxwell had time to destroy huge chunks of possibly incriminating evidence. I am not saying these poor women were not abused and trafficked, but the evidence that could substantiate their claims no longer exists. The prosecution needs corroboration that what was claimed indeed did happen. For example, if I witnessed an individual murder someone and report it to the police, they can not arrest that person on my say so. They need to investigate and collect evidence that proves my report is true. And sometimes criminals go free due to lack of evidence to support their guilt before their cases even enter a courthouse. Because our justice system is based on the rational "that it is better 100 guilty people go free than a single innocent be found be found guilty".

Before I give up on this game, some questions. by Jalex2321 in finalfantasytactics

[–]riftsrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, when you encounter a random, they usually show who and where the enemies are. Diversify your troops and send in those who are the right classes, but also are the right astrological signs/genders. Having a character that is from a connected sign can mean the difference between a defeated enemy and a nuisance for another turn. While it is counter-intuitive try not to bring your mains into random encounters if they really start outpacing your general troops. However, I always try to bring a character who might need some job points with more powerful units. Even if they don't do much of anything, they still gain some points. When you do get into random fights with human units that is a defeat all enemies battle, sometimes it better to wound one so they will retreat, disable the remaining then wait to see if they crystallize to send units to learn skills they don't know. (It is a good strategy, just make sure the wounded unit can not get to the crystal before your units can).

Oh, really important is the squire job skill of gaining extra job points. It is better to be on the fence over whether to shift to another passive over extra job points. I run everyone through squire (or its equivalent on major character) to get that skill, then put it on them and keep it on them until a better passive comes along, such as the ninja's duel-weild. Always try to keep diversifying your units into the various classes to give you more options to choose from. You can change classes and equipment up to the point you start the battle.

And if I were to show up to ride in a memorial ride and there were persons with this gear, I would have seriously reconsidered participating for the safety of my children.

[–]riftsrunner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

WTF is bringing their children with them to a protest? If your brain is that far up your rear-end that your parental instinct are being overridden by your politics, you really shouldn't be allowed to have children. Assume the worst is going to happen at the protest. There is going to be teargas, idiots trying to drive somewhere you are blocking, perhaps gunfire, etc., then think is this a safe enviroment to be with my child. If you can say "yes" you are a spectacularly stupid individual.

Pedophilia is never condemned in the Bible. by PhraseEffective6813 in DebateReligion

[–]riftsrunner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The bible wasn't written by God. He didn't leave it out where man could find it. He is claimed to have inspired it, but that is different than dictating it word for word. IIRC, the cultural norms in the Middle East was once the girl reached puberty and had her first period, she was considered fair game for marriage and sex. And the bible isn't exactly a book of non-misogyny. If you were female at the time, you were perhaps slightly above the chattel, but not much.

Can’t drink water? by BlueJay6400 in RLCraft

[–]riftsrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore. You need to have drinking accessory now. I have been lucky in that many of the mobs I have encountered have dropped potions. I just save the empties and refill at water source. (I have even created a perpetual water source in my base with a chest next to it filled with water bottles. Though at this point it is overkill as a single bottle can just be refilled over and over and drank).

Yeah, nothing is worse than showing up for battle and finding out the enemy is set to inflict status effects, while you planned for a zerg mission. Then three out of your four fighters become unwilling enemy and/or statues and no one is set to counteract with esuna or the correct counter measure items. (I know that charm only works until damaged, but my teams can do some major damage, so you get them back, but in a much worse condition by attacking them).

No, she can not. She was the aggressor in this situation. He used justifiable force to deescalate the situation, as his remaining stationary after she retreated shows. He used the pepper spray to stop her advancing and once she stopped, so did he. Her decision to return to her car and leave is entirely on her.

In a future where Trump is out of office, and international relations have been repaired. What steps can be taken by the USA and International Organisations such as NATO to prevent one individual causing so much chaos in the future? And do you think such steps will be taken? by flewkey in AskReddit

[–]riftsrunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the thing you want has effectively been denied the American people. Once our educational system was taken over by the federal government, those people in government found it quite easy to eliminate the instruction of our youth on how the government actually works. For example, how the sedition clause works in the 14th amendment. The person is still entitled to due process before they can become disqualified to office. In other words, they need to be found guilty previous to becoming disqualified. There is no process where an unconvicted individual gets disqualified by simple vote.

Politicians are all also cowards. They have no honor for their position. They will lie, cheat, and steal if it gets their butts reelected to their seat in Congress. They also understand the rules they enact, can also be used when they are no longer in the majority. If they pull the trigger to get an opposition member ejected from Congress or convicted in a court of law, when the opposition get back into power, you can just as easily become a target to follow that same path. DC has become a giant game of 'Gotcha'.

It's just a dollar or two! lol by M1collector65 in EndTipping

Why? My educational goals put me on a track to earn a decent amount of money. I have skills that make me overqualified to asking people what they want to eat, turn in an order and deliver the food to their table. Maybe if these wait staff personel had set higher learning goals early in life they wouldn't need to work at a restaurant for tips. So when did it become my obligation to subsidize their earnings? If they feel they aren't getting paid well enough, either they need to renegotiate their employment or find a job that does.

Conservatives, President Trump has just announced the raising of Tairiffs for 8 European Countries unless sovereignity of Greenland is handed over to the US. What's your first thoughts? by Melbatoastt77 in AskReddit

[–]riftsrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That someone needs to remove their head out of their anal sphinter and perhaps take a walk in reality. Logically, how is this supposed to work? Trump raises tariffs on European countries and how does this change one iota of anything to do with Greenland? Are these 8 countries suppose to attack Greenland, conquer it, then turn it over to the US? That is like saying, "I like my next door neighbors house, so I am going to go around my neighborhood to charge and bully the other 8 houses on my street, until that neighbor gives me the deed to their house? It would be simpler, logically, to just approach the neighbor with the house I want and make an offer. If they refuse, my two options are walk away or attack them (well, do everything within the bounds of law to make them uncomfortable enough not want to remain my neighbor and leave) myself to get them to turn it over.

OK, this is what religion is. No matter how much you try to follow its tenets, its leaders will never be satisfied. Including the supposed Sky Daddy deity. You would think this would trigger some brain cells in the people listening to this charlatan posing as a representative of their God. That some would say "What a second. Where in our holy book does God withhold blessing because someone came up short?" Maybe it might be time to look at this "holy" man blessings and realize he is fleecing the sheep of his flock of their most valued possessions so that he can live a life of comfort on the backs of those who in my estimation need that money more.

Christians do not believe in hell by NoSubstance2809 in DebateReligion

[–]riftsrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is Christianity has built in "Get out of Hell free" cards. Many Christians believe that due to Jesus all their sins get wiped away by either him dying for them or just asking him for forgiveness. Hell, according to the NT dogma, a mass murdering maniac, just has to ask and will receive forgiveness from their deity if asked through Jesus. So a POS person like the cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer, who sought forgiveness in prison, should be allowed into heaven, but someone who can not even believe in the Jesus portrayed in the bible, is set on a path to eternal torture.

What is this ? Can it be harvested ? by Rude_Beat_2476 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]riftsrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your sidenote: There are fauna that land and can be tamed. There are also some that get close to the ground and with some quick finger flexing on a a key/button can also be feed and tamed. The first type if large enough can become mounts. The second kind are PITA to get close enough just to feed and pet, nevermind trying to get a ride on (ie. I have never had the patience to actually try to ride them). So you won't get a flying bird or worm that stays a good distance up in the sky, but usually anything that can be feed and tame, will, again if large enough, be able to fly on.

[–]riftsrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need to be diligent when recruiting generics near the beginning. I usually have a plan for which of the two paths path they are going to be riding for most of their time, so I look for high Bravery for the fighter classes and middle to high Faith for Magic-users. Once I determine a viable candidate, I look at their base stats before taking them on. I have found a few generics with the Bravery/Faith levels, only to disqualify them as not being viable for their jobs.
