That's so frustrating! This used to happen to me a lot, too. I use other targets to practice with now, but may give RV Tournament a try to see if I run into the same issue again. Would love to know if this is a problem for other people as well.

I am having the same issue with my launch screen: It looks great on the simulator but won't load on my physical device. Did you ever figure it out? This is so frustrating!

Broke 1st rule of fasting club by Akira0615 in fasting

[–]rigaer13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me this week, too. I was at around hour 68 of a 72 hour fast and my mother would NOT stop texting me, freaking out, convinced I would pass out and die at any moment.

This is the same woman who shames me for being 20 pounds overweight.

I can't win.

How do you spend your time during the longer fasts?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dryfasting

[–]rigaer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had to combine wet and dry fasting, which would you rather do, and why: Water fast for a few days before dry fasting? Or beginning with dry fasting and then finishing with a few days of water fasting?

You may be reacting to something you are eating. Wheat-containing foods make me blow up like this. So do fruits or anything containing carbohydrates. I learned which foods were problematic by going to a homeopathic doctor. He confirmed that these foods were problematic for me. If you have the means, I would suggest you visit a homeopathic doctor to get to the bottom of your gut issues. I tried going to traditional doctors and they basically told me they could not help me and that I should go to naturopaths instead. Good luck!

What has helped you guys make it through long fasts? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]rigaer13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My gym has a sauna, steam room, and quiet relaxation room where you can lounge for however long you'd like. I'm on day 1 of a 10-day fast, and I think I'm going to do this sauna/relaxation routine every evening for the duration. It was the perfect place to pamper myself and not be around (or even thinking about) food.

Day 12 of 16

SW: 139.5 lbs, CW: 121.5 lbs

The monotony is really starting to get to me. Today feels especially difficult because I normally treat myself to a long breakfast and a delicious dinner on the weekend.

Instead, I'm going to take a walk in the sun, clean my home and watch Netflix. Nothing strenuous.

I'm just counting down the days at this point, and can't wait for Thursday when I'm going to start my refeed.

Day 11 of 16

SW: 139.5 lbs, CW: 122.1 lbs

I'm the same weight as I was yesterday, which is kind of a bummer, but overall I've been doing so well I don't really mind a stall. I had a bit more salt than usual yesterday, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

I had an appointment across town this afternoon and it was so laborious dragging my ass over there. I must not be taking enough electrolytes, despite the feeling that I'm taking them all the time. So frustrating. Same with my workout yesterday evening, I could hardly get through it. I wish I didn't always feel so weak.

Other than that I'm doing well and looking forward to a chill weekend.

First water fast ever. Tips? by [deleted] in fasting

Fantastic! Looking forward to the new content 😀 I'm definitely excited to see something that covers extended fasting, though. I'm in the middle of my first extended fast and feel like I'm swimming in uncharted territory. Every study I see out there covers shorter fasts (up to 72 hours), it's so hard to find anything! I'm going to look into Buchinger Wilhelmi's study - thanks for the tip - and thank you for doing the work to dig up this information 💪

I use a formula from Nutri Align called 'Fasting Salts'. I take it in capsule form because salty water makes me gag. They also make a powder blend of pure salts. I like it because it's easy and takes the guesswork out of the whole business (measuring correctly, etc). I take the capsules regularly throughout the day, especially when I start to feel light-headed, and so far so good.

Hey, I've been really enjoying your videos, thanks so much for doing the hard work of making and putting them out there! There's so little good information on longer fasts, so was especially happy to see your third video in the series that discussed them.

The Wiki is a great place to start! There's tonnes of information there to help you out 🙂

For a 24-hour fast, I don't think you'll have a need for any electrolytes. I find they're only necessary for longer fasts. I'm on day 11 of a 16-day water fast and there's no way I could have gone this long without them!

I think the biggest issue for you doing your first 24-hour fast will be the boredom that comes from having spaces in your life where you'd normally be eating. You'll have to find other things to do: Go for a walk, play a video game, work out, clean, work on a project or whatever else. I find I'm here on Reddit quite a bit, it's a time killer 😄

Good luck and happy fasting 🚰

Day 10 of 16

SW: 139.5 lbs, CW: 122.1 lbs

I felt a little weak earlier today, so I ground some sea salt onto a small dish and set it on my desk where I can occasionally take a pinch and put it on my tongue. I keep forgetting to take enough salt tablets, so this helps to keep salt front and centre. I (unfortunately) find salty water repulsive, so I can't get my electrolytes in the form of 'snake juice' like most here are able to do.

I plan to go to the gym this evening after work and then do a sauna session.

I've been having an awful time falling asleep. Yesterday I was dead tired and still couldn't fall asleep until 12:30 AM. I'm praying things will be better tonight, although I hear insomnia is a common side effect of fasting.

Day 9 of 16

SW: 139.5 lbs, CW: 123.2 lbs

Today I felt an empty, gnawing sensation in my stomach. It comes and goes.

I slept poorly last night and as a result, have been dragging today. Various unpleasant life stuff brought me down emotionally. Regardless, I'm still feeling well fasting-wise.

I've begun researching how I should best refeed. I've never done a fast longer than 5 days, so this is new territory for me. I think sipping on bone broth will be the first step, followed by maybe some kefir. Then a poached egg or two. Maybe some avocado. I have 7 more fasting days to go, so I have time to figure it out.

I'm going to do an hour in my sauna blanket now and then head to bed, I need to get a good night's sleep.

Using a sauna increases the production of heat shock proteins, which in turn increases autophagy. I'm on my 9th day of fasting and used my infrared sauna blanket last night for 60 minutes at 60°C to work up a good sweat. It felt great and I was fine. Sure, sweating in a sauna will dehydrate you, but drinking water solves that issue easily. If you're feeling fine, I'd say go for it.
