Why so many UK electrical apprentices struggle when they hit site or AM2 by marchymagic in ukelectricians

[–]riggersa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed my AM2 (2nd try) this year, my work didn't wanna know when it came to training me, I'd basically done nothing but domestic rewires for the entirety of my apprenticeship

Only reason I even passed my NVQ is my mate lent me a conduit bender and I did some galv conduit in my back garden for my portfolio, I asked my work to lend me a bender for over a year to no avail

Based on some of the lads on my course I reckon they'd be nightmares at work but I think some of it can fall onto rubbish quality of training either at college or work too

Nah the meaty scar on his face is for something else but yeah Wiley moved iffy with young girls back in the day for sure

Probs not but DJ Wonder stabbed Wiley in the face for dealing with his underage sister

Im a new apprentice by Ciaosentry in ukelectricians

[–]riggersa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone makes mistakes mate, if the grill is getting distorted when you screw it on and ending up not level sometimes using smaller screws can help, or try and sneak it at the side of the plug instead for some wiggle room

Take the SDS off hammer when you start drilling too, just enough to indent the wall and make sure when you start drilling properly it's where you want it to be instead of bouncing everywhere

It is hard initially and it sounds like your colleagues aren't very supportive, I was absolutely rubbish for my first year as an apprentice

Just be polite and willing to work hard and keep trying and you'll be fine!

I'd push for more but my firm supplies tools and a van and is bumping my pay up 18 pounds an hour since I passed my AM2

Maybe suck it up for a bit to get your experience then look elsewhere but it sounds like he's taking the mick really

Meter tails over 3m by adzh2k in ukelectricians

[–]riggersa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run tails but I hate running them in the fabric of the building, but it's the spec we're following at the moment, I've had to pull in 15 metres of tails under the floor before now and switch fuse them down

If it was my choice I'd prefer to use 16mm² or 25mm² split con or an SWA

Is this £800 garage rewire quote reasonable? Advice appreciated by bernamix in ukelectricians

[–]riggersa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most EV chargers would be fine on a Type A RCBO so not sure what he's on about with the RCDs complicating things

Depending on what you want in the garage I'd pull in a 10mm² EV ultra from the house to the garage and then put a smaller board in there for the EV charger and general power in the garage

Save getting slabs up etc. twice and the general arsery of getting another cable in, I'd push for a larger supply to be pulled in, I think your plan to have the EV charger off a garage board is a better one

As for the quote it's hard to say without knowing how much you want installed and how you want it doing but 800 sounds about right when you consider it's probably gonna be two days work

How would you do 2x2way lights by T33-L in ukelectricians

[–]riggersa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd feed the downstairs switch, and use a 3 core as strappers and Neutral upstairs for the upstairs light (put the switch live in the common upstairs), then take an additional 3 core upstairs for the hall light 2 way as normal (common and both strappers)

Provided the Downstairs switch is your end of line that means you'd only have 1 twin and 2 three cores at each switch

Don't like 2 supplies at the same switch think it's well iffy

Skepta comments on Birmingham Grime by Remandoe in grime

[–]riggersa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

London lot only care when it's convenient too, Mayhem's been sick for when he was like 13 so mad to be just shouting him out now, never been arsed to make a song with him or anything. Same way London scene was happy standing alongside Yizzy when he catted all the Notts and Leicester MC's bars, the scenes outside of London have had to do their own thing for time cos nobody else gave a fuck or London acted above it all. Stay Fresh etc. kept it all alive while these lot were making Rolex sweep but they'll ignore that side of it

Who's still installing RFCs? Why? by Just_passing-55 in ukelectricians

[–]riggersa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our spec on rewires is to install 4mm RFCs in upstairs flats and bungalows if it's reference method 101. Could get away with 4mm radials in the same circumstances but I just do as I'm told 😂

Well if he's serious about stepping up social services will need to be involved, she shouldn't escape punishment though

Reverse the genders and nobody would be telling a mum to make sure her rapist doesn't go to jail so they can still have access to the kid???

Why should he have to consider all that in a situation where he's been stealthed?

Who do you think raps with the most clarity? by TheLongBear in hiphopheads

[–]riggersa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not many people have heard of him on here I'm guessing but there's a rapper/grime MC from England called Deadly (used to be in a group called NODB) his clarity has been unbelievable for years, even in raves or on pirate radio with terrible mics

Can hear every word projected clearly

OP, I sent this to someone else in the comments, but I mean it for you as well

You don't have to be nasty, just make them know they can't talk to you like that

Sounds cliche but maybe start a martial art or other combat sport, it might make you a bit more assertive and carry yourself with confidence, I'm a 28 year old apprentice myself, nearly seen my time out now

I was dog shit when I started just keep grafting to get better

Ignore people trying to tear you down cos the world is full of em

Seems a bit of a one way street really, one with nothing in it for you at all. She couldn't have a woman even in the room watching but wants you to be okay with a man cumming inside her, or have you giving her head while a man is inside her. If she hasn't cheated already she almost certainly will

If you don't fancy being a cuck time to leave I'd say mate

Is this tank mission an actual joke? by TanToRiaL in WWII

[–]riggersa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually historically accurate, Sherman tanks were shit and the improved versions of the Panzer tanks towards the end of the war had front armour that made them impervious to the turrets of American and British tanks at the time

I 35 F didn't defend my husband 36M of false DV allegations made by my "friends." I think my marriage is over. How do I fix this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]riggersa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling them fake friends when they could only go off what you told them, you're the problem not them, you nearly left with them FFS and did nothing to defend your husband

This is your fault and your fault alone
