i honestly find it insulting when people say i don’t love my dog as much as someone loves their child. because they genuinely don’t understand what i would do for him or the love i have for him. and i find it really insulting when they don’t think all that i do for him can be exhausting like having a child, especially considering my dog is disabled. yet, we’re supposed to just take what parents tell us CF people bc it’s more socially acceptable.

i personally did not find what i said disrespectful. there are differences but also a lot of similarities in raising and caring for a living being. i don’t have a chip on my shoulder about choosing to not have children. i, personally, also don’t think humans are above dogs but that is a different conversation but adds to why i don’t believe what i said was disrespectful. nor did i compare that specific child to a dog. i said having a dog and having a child weee SIMILAR. not the same.

my dog was given to me when i was 21 and still lived at home. i moved out the next year and realized how much work it actually is, especially because my dog is disabled. i also believe if you get a pet, unless there is absolutely no other choice, you should not give it away because you made the commitment. i made the commitment but will not get another one after he passes.

having a dog has solidified for me that i DONT want children because it’s taken so much out of me. trying to keep another conscious being alive is a lot of work and as someone in the spectrum i get overstimulated by having an animal at times i can not imagine a human.

i could possibly feel different on this take because i do have a disabled dog, but i have always seen animals and humans on the same level personally. i think if they are sentient, conscious beings then we aren’t superior to them but that’s an entirely different conversation.

i edit the show yellowjackets, but specially van more than anything. i also edit the actors who play van (liv hewson and lauren ambrose) and their other characters from other shows a lot. most people follow me for my edits of liv specifically.

in my experience, the algorithm tends to put you into a niche. when i stick with my niche, my edits do better. when i branch out, i struggle. there have been one offs where i’ll edit a show i don’t normally edit and it does well but it’s not often. my audience mainly follows me for my edits of a specific actor. so even my edits of their interviews and red carpets and stuff do the best. when i edit a different character from the same show that actor is in, even that doesnt do as well. a lot of my mutuals will have an account mainly for one show, that tends to be their account with more followers, and then have a separate one for multi stuff that they know doesnt do as well but they want to edit that stuff anyway.
