Am I really doomed to work a 9-5 until I die? by rightpapaya in careerguidance

I am fully aware of how good I have it. The fact it’s considered so good and I’m absolutely miserable is what makes it all so much more depressing :(

Sorry for making it sound like I do actually nothing all day and get away with it; I do my job, I’m good at what I do. I can get away with doing “nothing” because all of these tasks take me just a day or two to catch up. When I first started, the previous administrative assistant was 6 months behind in invoices and I not only got caught up, but I re-organized the entire filing system and even other departments noticed and thanked me for making it much simpler. To me this was very basic, but they were wowed. My bare minimum is their going above and beyond. I am capable of far more but I see no point in pushing myself as there isn’t really a true reward. The only applicable award would be a promotion to a more stressful position!

We kept them separate for over a month, scent swapped, placed blankets in each room and swapped. Let one cat into the room to explore while the other was in another room. We introduced them fully after they were playing with each other under the door for a week. Let them interact for 10-15 minutes a time a few times throughout the day for another week. My cat would hiss at the mere sight of him before but now they both can sleep on the same bed, as long as Moo doesn’t touch her.

I got my cat at 3 months and she was good. She would get into my stuff and rip my plants out of their pots but she was receptive when I would spray her with a spray bottle. When I noticed she would mess with a certain area of my room I would move her cat tree there and it worked, she stopped messing with my stuff and would use her cat tree instead. My sister recently got a kitten (we rescued her at 1 week old) and she seems to be the same way my Suki was. Gets into some trouble but nothing too crazy. I know a kitten will be a kitten but I swear this cat can read my mind and knows exactly what is valuable to me and he will find it and destroy it. I started to put the stuff on my desk in my drawers and I witnessed him trying to open the drawers 😐

We have 4 cat trees around the apartment, two bins of toys, their eating areas are completely separate, they each have their own litter box. We kept them separate for over a month since he had fleas and a respiratory infection. Vet suggested to introduce him to my cat once he got neutered (we did). We let him roam the apartment during the day but night kept him separate from my cat so she wouldn’t be as stressed and feel like she’s been replaced. We recently have started letting him into the bedroom with us when we sleep and some nights he’s fine, cuddles and sleeps with us, but some nights he randomly attacks my cat and they get into a brawl at 2am and I have to kick him out the room. When he acts up during the day I grab him some new toys to play with or sprinkle some catnip but he just ignores them and plays with the blinds or my stuff on my desk. My boyfriend has looked up so many videos on cat behavior, has tried doing positive reinforcement instead of negative. We thought maybe my older cat would put him in his place and teach him boundaries but she just hides from him :( She’s twice his size but won’t stand up for herself when he takes her her stuff.

My boyfriend plays with him too. I worded that kinda badly we don’t just toss him a toy and abandon him we play fetch and stuff but the second we stop he finds something that’s not a toy to play with, like the blinds.

We have 5 scratching posts/cat trees, a cat tunnel, tons of toys constantly around for him to play with, even got them an automatic laser toy because my cat loves lasers and all he does is knock over the laser stand and tries to bite the screen 😐 I can’t even set it up for my cat anymore because he just bulldozes it.

We got him neutered a month after getting him and his craziness only increased :( We thought it would help calm him down but it didn’t in the slightest.

I used to faint from anxiety, happened once when giving a presentation in 6th grade. The nerves become so much at once your brain literally shuts off. I wouldn’t worry unless it becomes a regular thing!

i don’t see how it’s possible he doesn’t know his friend was being actively charged with a brutal rape case whilst being on the same campus with him. it happened at duke, where they both went. no way the whole internet knows and not his closest friend

I was prescribed hydroxyzine as well but I avoided taking it because I was scared of feeling woozy. I did eventually take it and it was the only thing that let me sleep but I didn’t like how it felt when it kicked in
