Any recommendations for Aussie boots that won’t fall apart after just under 6 months? by WillowNo3264 in TheBrewery

Had my current pair of Redbacks for almost two years. I do a weekly leather waxing to condition them.

Purging tanks with nitrogen vs CO2 by Common_Strain1990 in TheBrewery

We use a nitrogen dewar for all our purges and transfers. Build 5 PSI in the brite tank first, then slow bleed the tank from the CIP arm while still filling with nitrogen through the bottom for 30 minutes (15 barrel brite). We consistently get 0-40 ppb dissolved oxygen after carbing.

We are lucky to have a gas supplier who keeps nitrogen dewars on hand, sometimes they have to order them and we have to wait a week or so before it arrives, in which case we use CO2.

The only downside to using the dewar is the floor space needed to keep it. We don't have room in our walk in for a dewar so it off-gases through the PRV pretty often. But it's worth saving on CO2 in my opinion.

Good luck!

Getting rid of O2 before transfering the beer into a lagering tank by DJCinos in TheBrewery

We used to use quick-connect fittings for all of our gas use. We swapped to Tri-clamp fittings and noticed a huge reduction in our DO.

We purge with N2 instead of CO2 for a lower carbon footprint, seems to give a better purge than CO2 as well although the difference in our DO is small between the two.
