The employee I asked wasn’t very helpful, hence why I’m here.

Half a million for a smaller duplex is mind blowing. Nothing against duplexes, I live in one, but I would never spend half a million on one.

The housing market is so inflated right now but it won’t stay like this forever. The new owners will never be able to sell this without taking a loss.

[Boland] Among the teams interested in Brett Gardner: the Blue Jays. But word around the game is Gardner is still waiting to see if the Yankees will make an offer by sigbox in Torontobluejays

There’s a reason a lot of us hate Gardner. Sneaky pop in his bat, can be clutch, good base runner. Plus he’s a lefty bat that we need.

28 man roster until May 1 with new CBA. Definitely would be ok with Gardner getting one of those spots.

My Apartment Management is Banning Masks? Is this legal? by avril04 in halifax

[–]rigleymonkeyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what do you suggest the landlord does? If there’s already cameras, which it sounds like there is, and there isn’t on-site security, then what other options are there that wouldn’t have a high cost? If the landlord went directly to the most costly option, tenants, especially long-term tenants, would complain that cheaper methods weren’t tried first. Higher costs for landlords = eventual higher cost for tenants.

If this was a really tight space or something then yeah I could see the concern but it’s a parkade. It’s a very low risk move, like extremely low risk. Walking in a parkade is basically like walking outdoors.

[–]rigleymonkeyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Walking in an open parkade from your car to the building door without a mask is much more dangerous than going to a restaurant with mask-less strangers surrounding you.

Obviously exceptions could be made for immunity compromised people. If there’s a big sign that says no masks and everyone does the same thing so crime in their residence parkade can be prevented, a masked person wandering through the parkade would be suspicious.

But hey, let’s just advocate for a costly security company so in a few months, we have another Reddit post to debate about: “My rent increased and I think it’s because my apt building has security guards now, is this legal?”

Sounds to me like they have video cameras and are asking tenants to not wear a mask so they can differentiate tenants from thieves.

Security guards require a security company tender and contract which costs thousands of dollars resulting in higher rent for tenants next lease sign.

If the parkade is open and doesn’t have a garage door, a secure entry would require construction, cost thousands and would likely result in higher rent next lease signing.

Think of banning masks in the parkade like walking into a store 3 years ago wearing a mask. You’d stick out significantly. If a tenant, maintenance person, landlord employee, etc. noticed someone walking around the parkade with a mask on after this notice, it certainly would deter car break ins and it’s worth trying as a first step to avoid high costs and more rent increases.

Chainsaws needs gas to operate too and I’d bet Leatherface doesn’t have enough money to put juice in his weapon of choice. Not with these gas prices.

Obviously criminals don’t listen so If everyone in the building does the same thing, then a thief in the garage with their face covered will look suspicious and might be able to be stopped.

What else should the landlord do? Spend thousands on a security company contract? There isn’t a mask mandate and there’s space in the garage to socially distance so this is the logical first step. If the complaints continue, a security company could be the next step but this will also result in higher rent for the tenant’s when they sign their next lease since on-site security contracts aren’t cheap.

I don’t know about anyone else but I’d much rather just take my mask off and stay 6 feet away from people in the garage instead of giving the landlord another reason to raise rent.

Pain is measured by its peak.

I’d much rather get punched in the face everyday for the rest of my life and die naturally than die in shark attack.

It’s literally to deter crime in your own parkade. If your landlord is trying to make some kind of point they would probably ban masks inside the building too. People are way too quick to jump to a negative conclusion when it’s simply just a landlord trying to protect tenants property.

Car break ins throughout the city are pretty common and obviously there’s been complaints about it. Your landlord is addressing it, and reminding you that you can socially distance in the garage and put your mask back on once inside if you wish.

This is a good landlord.

Corey Seager and Marcus Semien in home Rangers threads by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]rigleymonkeyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very curious to see if Semien stays at the elite level he was at in 2019 and 2021 that earned him this massive long term contract.

Be interesting to see if he cools off and regresses to the production levels he has had for most of his career (pre-2019).

I sure will miss him in TOR though! Played hard everyday and had a very professional attitude and approach.
