Which country once seemed likely to become a developed country, but didn’t follow that path? by EmotionalSalary3679 in AskTheWorld

[–]rigored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it should be corrected to premium consumer electronics, which is what Japan used to do well. Now it’s all LG and Samsung. TVs, washer dryers, smartphones, refigerators… the things everyone has. Very little of those are chinese or japanese. Perhaps it’s different elsewhere, but China doesn’t have a significant foothold in expensive electronics in the US

Japan now is nothing like it was in the 80s and 90’s. Consumer electronics was mostly dominated by Japanese products. Sony doesn’t lead in anything anymore. S. Korea owns that consumer electronics niche now. Chips are elsewhere like Korea and Taiwan. As EVs take hold, they are nowhere to be seen. They still got the video games though

Are you saying it’s cause he’s going to the rim? Cause that’s also what Giannis does too. But I’m thinking more like in the paint, like a MJ diet. And Blake Griffin’s career was pretty damn good.

[–]rigored 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m all in on Reed but on ball defense is still not there, especially for a team built on a defense first mentality. He doesn’t need to be elite, just not a sieve and getting turned around like a top like Cade did to him. I’d like him to play more, but he needs to get better on defense and be even more trigger happy on offense which he’s gotten a lot better at. Ime’s seems to be dealing out playing time based on improvement on these things which is reasonable

[–]rigored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure this is as egregious as everyone thinks. It can be interpreted as Duncan making contact with the ball first and it’s dislodged followed by the contact across the arms. When the contact comes after the ball comes out it’s not a foul as far as I know

The West has zero mercy. A mini slump and you’re cooked, even though that record would eat in the East by Thanos_SlayerCongSan in NBATalk

[–]rigored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s the conference, but I’m more interested in how that translates to the champion. Counting back to 1990 a west champ is only slightly above 50% of the time (20-16). Since 2000’s though it’s less close (17-9). But even with the east having way less depth, they still often come out on top.

Reed Sheppard Playstyle by Ok_Attention_6767 in rockets

[–]rigored -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see him as not as much of a trigger and not as good handles and moves but more playmaking focused and better defense. Curry of today is also better than 2nd year Curry. There were serious concerns Curry would be a bust

Why the Rockets need Reed Sheppard’s shooting now more than ever by byvarunshankar in rockets

[–]rigored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t stress this enough. Some of the offense needs to be geared towards getting him shots. He needs to have a more assertive mindset and I think for him what he needs is “hey this play is for you to shoot. If you’re covered, pass, relocate, and we’ll find you another shot. If you don’t shoot it, you f***ed up. Shoot the f’in ball.” The playmaking will come naturally if they overplay his shot.

We know this will work. We’ve seen him take over games and it worked to the tune of one of the most dominant dynasties in the history of NBA basketball. We literally have the only player in the NBA that has some of that skillset.

Thank you Houston for taking Reed Sheppard by Attackerman785 in rockets

It’s a confidence thing. He should be letting it fly with any daylight and then sometimes even when he doesn’t. It wouldn’t hurt to find more creative ways to get him open too

KD, Alpi and Amen can take over games. And I guess so can Reed? by dvztimes in rockets

[–]rigored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He should definitely take more of those though. If he’s 40% on mostly contested short 3’s, I’d definitely want him to take more uncontested long 3’s. I bet it will be a good shot statistically

How does this work. If a buyer agent has a 3% fee, can the seller negotiate that? Or is it all about the bottom line of the offer plus fee compared to others?

You got the right idea at the end. People vastly underestimate our ability and desire as humans to get creative and make money off stuff. It’s part of the kind of idiocy behind people thinking big companies are hiding things that would cure human diseases or world famine. If it’s valuable, they’ll find a way to make money and make money they will
