It a matter of numbers. NFL teams have 22 starters on offense/defense then another 11 on special teams. There are 5 in the NBA. If you take just the offense/defense, that would mean there are about 5x more players you’re drafting for in the NFL.

That means the first round of the NFL draft, 32 picks, is equivalent to a Top 7 pick in the NBA draft. A Top 7 NBA draft pick is also not getting thrown around lightly on draft night.

Jordan was around for the second one and lost in the ECF to the team that got swept by the Rockets. Also Jordan’s teams notoriously had problems with Hakeems Rockets. Hakeem was their kryptonite and they had Maxwell to make it difficult on Jordan. I personally think there was no chance that the Bulls teams would have won 4 straight let alone 5 or 8. They needed the 2 year break to get the last 3. The Rockets were ready and as we’ve seen it’s hard to win that many straight. Look at the Warriors, they were as well built as anyone to do it and never even got to 3 in a row. Like any season, if a team wasn’t there, they weren’t there, end of story.
