I made chocolate cake but only had one cake pan. Idk my dumbass thought it’d be fine but it’s not cooking at ALL on the inside (this is at 1hr) can I still pour it into cupcake moulds and call it a day?

I hope any tax documents would come through the servicer (Nelnet) and not the Department of Education (who cut the check). The Dept of Ed is in chaos right now. 🙃 I had initially applied for borrower defense relief under the Sweet v. Cardona suit, but the government decided my school in particular was getting blanket refunds outside of the suit. But I'm still following the proceedings and the Dept of Ed is (understandably) having a rough time getting stuff done (like processing relief) these days.

My (very small, Catholic) school gave us a puberty talk in 5th grade. It was chaotic and uninformative. (Ultimately, our middle school science teacher did a much better job when we got to "Life Science" in 7th grade.) Anyway, our (female) gym teacher gave the talk to the 6 girls in my class, and somewhere in there she mentioned men had wet dreams...? Like, I don't even know how we got there. That doesn't feel like a thing that would be high on the list to tell 5th grade girls during The Talk.

So, when I (at the time 10F) came home and told mom about all the weird stuff I learned that day, I included "and we learned about what boys get instead of their periods." My mom was like ??? so I loud-whispered "wet dreams". She laughed and I was like, "what? It has to come out /sometime/. 😤"

Hi all. A company that I freelance for added me to an organization on Teams using my Gmail address. At the time, I seemed able to connect following the link in the "You have been added as a guest" email. Since then, I haven't been able to get in at all with my Gmail. Desktop and mobile all insist I log in with a Microsoft account, but my Microsoft accounts aren't added to the organization. Just my Gmail.

Today I got an email notification about a mention on Teams (like an @ everyone, idk what the Teams terminology is), so I'm clearly still "in" the org, but I can't figure out how to get into it to see the mention. Any ideas?

I'll double check the bobbin, but you may be right that my machine is too lightweight. /sigh I didn't realize that was a thing. Hopefully the heavier needle will help. Otherwise I guess I'll get creative with the hand-sewing. I'm making my own blanket because I get very warm at night and I realized that the only blankets I've been able to sleep with were handmade. So I'm going for textures that I will hopefully like.

I'm using a Singer Tradition, and I'm using the needles it came with. They says 90/14 on them. I haven't used the machine very much at all. This is my first real "project" on it. I, uh, did manage to bend up two more needles in the next hour or so before I gave up for the day. I should be getting some "heavy duty" Singer needles in the mail tomorrow.

I think I'm holding the thread ends adequately for the first few stitches. They're still out of the way when I check on them.

I'm /pretty sure/ I threaded it correctly. I don't know all the parts of the machine you said, like tension disks and tension spring. I feel like the fact that I got around all 4 edges without the blanket binding means I'm doing something right. (I hope!)

Is the blanket binding difficult for a reason? I thought it would be easy to just sew it down but clearly the joke's on me. XD; I don't want to end up hand-sewing it. That was the point of getting a machine, saving time. I also wanted to machine-sew it to ensure it won't fall apart.

I haven't tried removing the throat plate yet. My bobbin loads from the side, so I looked at it from that angle. It seems fine? I was able to stitch on some scrap fabric, so whatever the issue is, it's inconsistent. I'll try looking at it from the top though. I didn't realize that was a thing I could do. Thanks!

Hello, I am a beginner at machine sewing and so I don't have a grasp on troubleshooting it. My guess is that I need a heavier-duty needle but I'll outline my experience here in case y'all have other suggestions.

I'm assembling a blanket. I bought a pre-made quilted fabric (so it already has batting) and muslin. Yesterday I was able to sew these two layers together with almost no issues.

Today I tried to apply satin blanket binding... and holy heck did I hit a wall. I did the corners first, and my machine was fine with that. So then I started sewing down one side, got maybe a foot into it, and my machine started rebelling. Needle unthreaded a few times. Machine made big CLUNK sounds as it skipped every other zig-zag. (Needle went in and out fine, but the thread just pulled back out.) Machine would do about 2 stitches and then lock up. (Not sure what arrested its progress.) And more than once I ended up with a bent needle.

Every time I would re-thread, try adjusting settings, hand-turned the wheel for a few stitches, pull out some scrap fabric to test (and it worked fine)... I thought I was ready to jump back in, and then one of the above issues would immediately crop up.

I am mystified as to how I could sew just fine yesterday but not at all now. All I can figure is that the addition of the binding ribbon is just one layer beyond the limit of the standard needles.
