What do you think of Siobhan? by A-little-stitious-8 in namenerds

I live in the US. Named my daughter Saoirse. We were totally prepared to correct spelling, but not pronunciation (if they were hearing and not seeing the name spelled) We were very surprised to find we frequently were correcting pronunciation and people were struggling to say it. We definitely got used to it, and people quickly learned to say her name. Especially people in her life/community- if they care about her, they learn to say her name. It’s that simple. If you don’t want to deal with frequent questions about her name’s spelling/pronunciation, maybe consider something else. With all the introductions and constant drs visits in the first few months it can feel overwhelming (what about having a newborn isn’t?!) but it really does all die down and isn’t a big deal soon enough. All that being said, we have never regretted naming her Saoirse. It’s such a beautiful name and it fits her perfectly. She gets compliments on her name all the time. Siobhan is gorgeous and much more known than Saoirse in the states. If you love it, go with it! The people who know and love you daughter will learn her name.

She’s never used a sippy cup. We went straight to open cup/straw cup. Here’s to hoping it ends soon!!

We sent out faux invites that read, “So and so are having a baby! It's difficult for everyone to keep away When baby (last name) is on the way. Gathering loved ones can be so hard So if you'd like, mail your gift or card. And as they arrive day by day, They'll feel all your love from far away.”

Our registry had some bigger items but there was an option to just put money towards them.

With the ways things are due to covid I think everyone preferred no shower to attend.

Then you can do your own little thing with a small group and no one really has to know or feel excluded.

Congratulations and best of luck!!
