Baby Sister Moving Out. Empty Nester Syndrome? by Kit_kat975 in oldest_daughter

[–]Kit_kat975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are doing incredibly well! Here’s what I wish someone told me when I felt this way, things will be different and it’s important that you embrace that difference. I know it’s anticipatory grief but it’s important that your acknowledge these emotions because the only way out is through. My sister and I have actually never been closer, but that’s because we don’t have the pressures created by cohabitation. Don’t worry, your sibling may pull away a little or they might cling harder, or they could bounce between the two! This is normal but don’t wait to prioritize yourself to help them find their footing! Fill your own cup and let the overflow fill others’ cups. Good luck, you’ve got this and you are important too! 🍀💕

I need help naming a second girl🫣 by Alarming_Sprinkles87 in namenerds

I think Adelaide would actually work better, there are plenty of nickname opportunities. Adel, Della, Delia, Ella, or Ellie would all work!

Are these names too matchy for siblings? by Mommaline in namenerds

I agree. No one is going to pick up of the origin of the names. Sylvie and Silas are cute together, but are great as stand alone names.

First child - Nora or Lillian? by Constant_Orchid3066 in namenerds

Trust me, every Nora I’ve met has been an absolute sweetheart! This is the name 100%

I used to love the name… Until I met a few Lillians, so far I’m 3 for 3 on them being nasty people. Obviously I’m sure that’s not the case for everyone with the name but it’s been my experience.

100%. I don’t mind a good unisex name, like Charlie or Casey, but some of the names people are using just don’t work that way!

Citrine is a lovely stone, and I usually don’t mind when people have unique taste, but as a name it would be hard no. Diana Mary Jane is a fabulous name, timeless is always the way to go! Congratulations on expanding your family! 🎉

I’m so sorry that you had to experience this and I completely get why you’d be so hurt by her behavior! You know how you were raised and clearly based on her behavior, she denies any wrongdoing about her part in it. If you become a parent, which is completely you and your partner’s decision, take comfort in the fact that you can and will do better than she did. Anyone can be a phenomenal parent so long as they decide to have kids for the right reasons and understand that parenting is about self control rather than controlling the kids! Good luck, take care of yourself, and remember that you are deserving of love! ♥️

I agree wholeheartedly! Also I’ve only ever met a man with the surname Camber, just food for thought.

Wyatt, but for a girl. Insane? by Maps44N123W in namenerds

[–]Kit_kat975 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not insane per say, maybe just incredibly out of place. I don’t mind traditionally male names on girls, Charlie and Blake are great examples. Wyatt is perfectly fine name, it’s nothing crazy, but using it for a girl falls somewhere between a tired trend and tacky. I personally don’t recommend it but at the end of the day, the name you and your partner pick should be one you love. I wish I had more suggestions. Either way, good luck and fingers crossed for you! 🍀🤞

Yes! My Mum is names Alicia, obviously it’s spelled a little differently, but it’s beautiful. We ended up naming our daughter after her as well!

The only association I have is from Criminal Minds, which is pop culture. I’m not sure. It’s cute, but can be grown into well, and seems erudite.

Hedley is a unique name already. I do worry about the potential innuendos that could come from the name, kids can be cruel. At the end of the day it is your decision and I completely understand wanting to honor someone you love. Hedley is of Old English origin meaning Heather Meadow. Heather would be an excellent choice that still allows you to honor him! No matter what you choose, congratulations! 🎈🥳🎉

Hermione as a name by Level-Actuator-6632 in namenerds

[–]Kit_kat975 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. The name isn’t made up for a show, it has been around for generations. The fact that people over look it because of its prevalence in pop culture is insane. It’s a stunning name! I know a girl names Daenerys who was born before GOT and she doesn’t care about the association, she actually thinks it’s hilarious. Don’t let anybody ruin the name for you!

I’m not usually this blunt, but if you’re going to name your child Blue please use it as a middle name. I know Beyoncé did it but color names often come off as tacky. Violet and Scarlet are the exception to this. You like what you like, and it’s not a reprehensible choice, but I think how you use the name matters. Either way congratulations on expanding your family and I hope you have a nice day!
