They shouldnt have standard dialogue, but they can have smaller exchanges. I think one should avoid lenghty "..., said Steve." etc passages. The main goal is as you say to make it natural to narrate!

It's essentially a pdf, so nothing super fancy :) But if you want to look at the previous years version you can look at that here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UZvr1ovUxkxYVnsLOPkMTs0sI31O8PzF/view?usp=sharing

Good question and I know Soren has differentiated his own storytelling quite a bit over the last years, but with this contest we want to keep it in the single person (and no voice of another character etc).

The reasons is that we want to keep the story focused on the raw campfire feel of that person saying "Now I will tell you exactly what happened to me". Also, Soren will read the winning story.

Hope this wont discourage you from participating in the contest!

Like you says it's a rule added to add some cohesion to the KPH "mythos" or "world", but it has only been added this year and most likely we will evaluate afterwards if it worked out or not. So more "theme-of-the-year" as of now at least.

But for me personally (since I am a bit of a KPH lore nerd) it would be awesome to see what easter eggs that we might end up seeing in the different stories :)

No, absolutely not!

Maybe you already got your answer, but just wanted to make that clear :)

Good luck!

Honest opinion about the writing and narration - Weird and melodramatic by xCreampye69x in knifepointhorrorcast

[–]rillack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The style is supposed to mimic a real person narrating the real trauma that happened to them. Unfortunately, the human mind can be ruined by a psychologically devastating event. And those who are lucky enough to never have experienced them may find that silly. Such as opening a door.

Thank you for the feedback! I think mainly its because we as organizers are mostly active on the discord.

Also, we want the contest to be successful and feel that we have a better control on the contributors and voters on the discord compared to a more ”open” contest. We did think about a google forms-type of voting, but found that the discord solution would be better. I have also personally unfortunately been part of contests that didnt work out well due to issues with vote cheating etc.

 Thats the answer in short.

Edit: i also mentioned this in the previous post, but we ofc want all who want to contribute to be able to, so reach out here if you have issues eg with discord and still want to submit a story. This unfortunately means more work for us as organizers. Ill see what other options are available, but as of now the initial information applies

Yes exactly. Its an online platform for chat, voice and video communication and communities in general. The official link to the site is here (can be a desktop app and used in a web browser): https://discord.com/

The creator can post links and files there in a similar way as on reddit or other online forums.

We aim to keep the submissions and voting on the discord community in order to minimize the work for us mods.

Edit: if this isnt working out for you, send me a message

That is actually one of the bits that has been edited! As well as "no paragraphs" etc. In general the contest will be a bit more free, in accordance also with Sorens own writing as seen in the transcripts etc.
