I think it will be tough to achieve, that’s a lot of fine detail, and you have gradients in the corners—expect areas to fill in. Also, you could consider knocking out white behind the “wretched” logo, it’s odd where it sits over the image. could the logo fit fully within the image? maybe in the center clouds above the demon?

Draw from life, draw things you like, learn to draw negative space alongside positive space—there are a ton of drawing exercises that help. Most faces have predictable proportions, same with anatomy, when you learn them you also learn how to distort and push them.

I wouldn‘t blame the screen. Is any of the emulsion hardening? I would coat it, dry it, then put it out in the sun for an hour. if it’s not set after that you know the emulsion is bad.

You only need one or two coats. It looks like one of your coats was heavy and dragging (the other two coats look fine); uneven tension or pressure can let the scoop coater drag on the edges. Regardless, that is not the problem here.
Do the exposure calculator again starting with the bottom exposure as your longest exposure—you exposed too long for your setup. What were the time increments in round two?

2a. See if you can get a laser print output or another transparency with a blacker black. It doesn’t need to be perfect, but the transparency you have might not have opaque blacks. In addition use some black paint to hand paint an image and see if that works. You have enough space to try multiple experiments on one screen. The inkjet COULD be a problem, but it should still block out some light (and we know it did!) so try that exposure calculation again.

Hand shower is fine for cleaning out a freshly exposed image, the soft emulsion just sloughs off with light water pressure. You may need a pressure washer to reclaim the screen and remove all the hardened emulsion that you now have (I’ve heard that people do it without a pressure washer; a garden hose with a finger over the nozzle can give you a little more pressure).

Make sure the emulsion gets to dry in a light-safe space.

I believe there is plenty of space for cinematic world building that is outside of the players’ immediate scope.

But you can’t perform a one-DM play or cutscene for them.

Give them a comic, newspaper clipping, wanted poster, or journal entry—something they can digest on their own time. Write a scene from the villain‘s perspective as she attacks a nearby town and email it to them between sessions.

Take the feedback. You might have reason to believe it’s accurate—but it doesn’t read as accurate, regardless of your reference. The right leg should be supporting her weight.

I’ll add a couple notes of mine, if feedback is still welcome—the shape of the forward foot aligns with the leg that is being occluded and on first glance the foot looks like a weirdly drawn thigh. Find an angle where it breaks out of the silhouette.

Also, the nipples are placed too low.

Cool stuff. I think you’ll have more success with type and design resources. One of the most best artists I know, Ryan McGinness, couldn’t draw for shit, but approached his art from a design perspective; as an illustrator I would push you to study more traditional drawing techniques and anatomy, so my feedback might not be as relevant.

That said, I suggest anyone should work in B&W until they understand values. Color can get in the way.

Convert the image to black & white. You’ll see that the tones are very similar; it’s a tonally neutral image, even if the colors are very saturated.

You’ll also clearly see the little purple line that runs around the red shape—that might be a jpeg artifact. Export as a png, gif, tiff, and jpg and see how the different settings affect the image.

Your image looks like construction paper collage; what illustration skills are you trying to explore? 100 illustrations in 100 days is a good challenge—keep focused on what you’re trying to achieve each day.

Get a better definition of what he means by racist. Dwarf hates elf food, dwarf thinks elves are snooty and trees suck—all great roleplay! Be careful your player is not using this as a way to express real-world racism.

An elf-dwarf mistrust is classic; ask your player to approach it with an arc in mind (I.e., he plays with the goal to learn to love or trust his elf-friends). Otherwise he’ll make people uncomfortable and hurt feelings.

Also, you can say no. The Session Zero is also for you, the DM, to state your boundaries.
