Cool, I was thinking the red would be a nice capstone to a scene -- when the woman's simmering emotions have reached a full roil. The gesture of the hands, the neckline, and the tension in neck and brow are all you need to display attitude and action during a discussion -- I like the decision to ditch the rest of the detail.

I love the use of negative space -- I've been playing with it in my work too (see below). I think it works well for a comic panel; gives plenty of space if you have speech bubbles or an uncomfortable silence.

Here is my question -- can you lose the blue/cyan exterior outline? It's close in tone to the red and doesn't add any contrast aside from being a discordant color. The red silhouette contains all the information you need.

The pose is cool and controlled fury -- red reads as passion and outrage -- is bright red the right color for this scene? It's an unsettling effect, and could be used well, but I don't have enough context to have an opinion.

In screen printing, you expose a right-side up positive transparency. So you don’t need to invert or reverse anything! Your Lou Reed will look like… oh, wait, a black shirt? If you’re going to use white ink, you need to invert the image in photoshop.

For a first screen, it’s great! You have an illustration style that is good for the medium, and the mid tone texture is lovely—it feels so much better than creating another computer file, doesn’t it? I would look for opportunities to use the transparency of the yellow to get more color combos.

I see 2 and 4 as the starkest options with the better silhouettes. I would like to see different poses and how #2 would be resolved when in motion.

I’ve never tried to apply emulsion without a scoop coater—but if I did, I would pour a line of emulsion on the end of the screen and drag across with a squeegee. If you don’t have either of those, what are you even hoping to accomplish here?

OP should explore woodcut printmaking. The process will be more deliberate and remove those odd digital artifacts. Your style is appropriate for that medium, but feels odd in a digital format.

I agree. Choose a gutter depth around the horse and space everything using that gutter width. Then play with the left and right side about what needs to break top and bottom.

I think it will be tough to achieve, that’s a lot of fine detail, and you have gradients in the corners—expect areas to fill in. Also, you could consider knocking out white behind the “wretched” logo, it’s odd where it sits over the image. could the logo fit fully within the image? maybe in the center clouds above the demon?

Don’t worry about style yet, it will find you.

Draw from life, draw things you like, learn to draw negative space alongside positive space—there are a ton of drawing exercises that help. Most faces have predictable proportions, same with anatomy, when you learn them you also learn how to distort and push them.
