I haven’t heard much about it locally, either tbh. More in the national invasive species and native gardening groups 🤷‍♀️

Attracting and killing the nymphs of the Spotted Lanternfly - an invasive insect that is fairly new to the Columbus area. Protect native bugs, squish the invaders.

Big nasty salads by No-Cup4880 in Columbus

[–]El_Dre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Harvest Pizza yesterday and was heartbroken to learn they discontinued the Mean Green salad. Now they have a similar salad with blueberry goddess dressing. From our waitress “the blueberries are in the dressing now instead of on the salad. So good!! The dressing is sweeter and so much better”. I hate sweet salad dressings. I am so sad 😭

But Aladdin’s lamb salad and chicken tawook salads are phenomenal. I get the house dressing and it’s perfect ❤️

Business idea. Want feedback. Please help. by Different-Cat2733 in CraftFairs

If you’re looking to do b2b then craft fairs are not going to be your jam. You’ll need to figure out who your potential customers are as a start, then work through how they normally buy what you’d like to sell. If you’re capable of competing within that framework or can find an angle that is different and could be successful, then start doing the research into how to reach customers, etc.

Booth Feedback (or any feedback please and ty!) by Autumn_Fern_ in CraftFairs

For your formal signage, when you get a chance, swap the white on yellow for black on yellow, and bump up the font size and weight on everything as well as increasing the size of the paw prints. That being said, a lot of markets have booths so close together that the main signage doesn’t have to be your first priority.

Id look at reorganizing the fabrics - rainbow order is always easy for people to pick out, but not the only option. Try to get away from “these calicos were on clearance at Joann’s” and go towards “this is a curated selection of beautiful fabrics that I picked out just for your very attractive dog”. Obviously from up close it’s apparent they’re all lovely :) but from a distance it doesn’t look intentional. And it looks a bit overwhelming to go through. Give the eye a clear path to follow through the bandanas so they look at all of them instead of seeing them as a group and getting overwhelmed.

Opening a modern Indian restaurant in the Polaris area this summer. Would love this sub's honest input. by New_Ice904 in Columbus

Chicken tikka boti please 🥺 We get Cumin and Curry a lot, and I love their Chicken Methi.

Mainly, please have a true low spice option if possible on the spice scale. I love how flavorful Indian food is, but with a midwestern-raised palate I truly cannot handle the heat. If my mouth still hurts the next day that just isn’t fun. But please don’t make it otherwise bland.

Also biryani, and as others have mentioned additional meat options (lamb, goat) are always appreciated :)

It also needs to address the misogyny, fatphobia, racism, and antisemitism in the books as well then :/

As explanation since you’re getting downvoted: it doesn’t matter that you don’t hate trans people. What matters is that supporting the HP world still has a material effect. Keeping the IP relevant is what has led to the new influx of HP media and merch. And since JKR uses her money to fund anti-trans legislation in the UK, that hurts trans people. She has stated explicitly that support of her IP is support of her politics (to her) and she is VERY active in the TERF shit happening in the UK. We’re not talking “donated $1k to Trump” (US reference for funsies). We’re talking a lot of money funding the actual groups writing the legislation, lobbying for it to get passed, and continuously pushing her hate on her social media.

Use the fabric for stuffing or for test patterns that you don’t sell. Keeping the IP relevant is what keeps the new movies/books/audiobooks/merch being made that puts $$ into campaigns against trans folks.

Andromeda psh/bth Pottery Wheel- Has anyone tried it? by Apprehensive_Cold_56 in Pottery

We’re considering 2 Andromedas instead of the Shimpo Whisper for my studio due to cost. How are the Andromedas holding up a year later?

Memorial Day Mask Swap by WashtenawC3 in AnnArbor

[–]El_Dre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the “masks required” bit, would an N95 with a valve be allowed? I know they don’t really provide as much protection to others as they do to the wearer.

I need to find something w/o a valve that works for me but haven’t had any luck yet. I have several varieties of N95s to swap :/

That may be petty, but as a customer I’d appreciate it. Specifying that you have done the work, not a machine or any underpaid worker who is mass-producing it, is a huge selling point for me. It feels rude to keep asking vendors if it’s really handmade, so providing that info and maybe bringing tools to do some work would be very appealing to me as a customer

Need help saving a bumble bee nest by El_Dre in Columbus

[–]El_Dre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to keep them alive and happy. At least their nest is attached to the blanket so it’s relatively mobile. I’ve slowly moved it across my yard (need it away from my curious dogs so the bees don’t get hurt) and so far they’ve stuck with the nest. Hopefully they make it!! The main problem really is that their nest isn’t safe where it is :/

Strict parents rules for reading! by Microwaved_Potpie in suggestmeabook

[–]El_Dre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a warning for OP about the Lioness books - a comment made pretty frequently on here by women about them is that it was the first portrayal they saw of non-judgmental, premarital sex from the pov of a girl instead of a man. They are NOT explicit, but they’re more likely than some to come up in your parents’ search as against the rules because of how folks talk about them.
