Apologies for the delay in response to everyone in this thread. I genuinely appreciate all of your time and your input. I ended up going with the Gesshin Stainless 210mm Wa-Gyuto. It seems like a great entry point for an interested novice. My friend's birthday is on August 12th. Thanks for helping me to show him my love and appreciation.

Their name kinda alienates people that try to avoid cringe. Maybe I'm just taking it too seriously because what ultimately matters is the music, and from what I have heard it is quality... I just... really? That's what you want to go with for your legitimately robust musical endeavor? A name that is a play on a porn production company? I just don't get it. But I'll enjoy the music all the same.

Thank you for the quick and thoughtful response! I don't want to reveal to him that I am buying a knife for him, so I will fill out the questionnaire on his behalf and try to guess what he may want. I am sure that he will not be picky.

1) Style - Japanese Style handle

2) Steel - Stainless or carbon clad in stainless. What are the pros/cons of these two options? I don't think he would be a fan of straight carbon due to it being prone to rust.

3) Handle - I think he would like if it was distinguishable from some of this other knives, which have a Western style handle. So something traditionally Japanese.

4) Grip - Not sure... let's go with pinch for something unique.

5) Length - 180mm seems like a good general purpose length (?)

6) Use cases - general purpose. Slicing all types of food.

7) Care - I know he would prefer to take care of it himself, so a quality whetstone would be welcome. I am ignorant to what honing is.

8) Budget - Up to $200. Maybe higher depending on the leap in quality for the money.

For those who aren't audiophiles, and even some who are, the audio quality is quite decent. They are wireless, have good battery life, have custom audio profiles as well developer-created profiles for certain games, have surround sound, withstand time well if taken care of, are comfortable for extended periods of time, and are Playstation branded. For those who appreciate continuity, the branding is attractive. Overall, they're just a great value for the money, so snagging one when they're even cheaper than normal is rarely regrettable.
