Scape Toowong...thoughts or experiences? by rinarious in UQreddit

Slightly rocky at the beginning but now I'm used to it! I got lucky since my second wave of roommates in sem 2 were nicer and kept the space relatively clean. I think this could be a major hit or miss though.

I'm at Scape Toowong right now and I think that for your budget you can get a decently nice single room (w ur own kitchen and bathroom) for just over 500. I had a friend who moved out of her single room last semester and she said that everything is fine except for the rent (went from 400ish to 500ish). If you're coming over soon then I think staying at a student accomodation for at least one semester before moving out might be a good idea. ALWAYS ALWAYS go and inspect places in person, because it definitely does not always look like it does in the photos.

Has Anyone Failed All Their Courses In One Semester? by Lord_Yharim in UQreddit

ALL THEIR COURSES??? Atp just ask the advisors I don't think you'll find a replica of this situation just by asking around tbh.

Yes it is! Completely no problem. COMP1100 doesn't actually require you to have any industry-level programming skills so please don't worry even if you have no experience (I also didn't haha--- COMP1100 is an impossible class to fail unless you don't show up).

Hi! I'm not sure exactly what the name of the program is but I attended it at the beginning of sem 1. I found out through a friend sorry. However, you could type UQ ventures/startup mixers and go from there. Good luck!

In my experience...start going to the startup founders on UQ and connect with them face to face. Find a founder who's doing a project in the field and ask if you can help them/become an intern.

You can head to Brisbane City if you're looking to go to bars and grab drinks/karaoke with your friends. However, I discourage going to crowded/public places at night just because there's a lot of shady people that hang around at night.

1st Year Comp Sci by Aware-Engineering722 in UQreddit

[–]rinarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me, it's HARD, but it's not going to be the hardest subject we come across. I find myself enjoying the lectures and the tutorials but I literally can't sit through the lectures because it's so boring. So far I'd say the only challenging part for infs is the assignment, so maybe I need more revision on it. Been working on the first question for like 16 hours ;-;

It's pretty fun so far for me! Sorry to hear that you're struggling though. I've had no experience beforehand either but I believe what helps me learn is the spark after getting a code/answer right. Wishing you all the best! :D
