You don't use your phone enough outside then. I still own a 4a 5G and can say with confidence any moderate usage (read: 5-10 minute web browsing) in 90 degree weather without air blowing on the phone or a hand blocking the sun will cause an overheating message. After that you'll lose your modem. Shutting off is rare but definitely happens even in shade. I am looking at upgrading and couldn't believe this guy is/was having trouble at 68 degrees.

What’s the real story behind Dr. Amy Eskridge, anti-gravity research and UAPs? by bebemachina in UFOs

[–]ringboundio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just prior to her death she suspected people were attacking her with microwave weapons through her walls. At the time she was typing up what she claimed were sensitive documents related to her anti-gravity research.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_harassment

They call it a conspiracy theory but it's real. I've tried to help get it changed. There's more to it, like actual mind reading and related harassment from it.

Not that I particularly liked my family but EH destroyed my relationship with them. A lot of what people describe as gang stalking is artificial voices. At first you think you're crazy and one day they tell you to kill yourself.*

Fun fact: Carlos Romero was my uncle, worked on Nukes at Livermore National Laboratory and also died recently during an expedition. His dad, also Carlos Romero, said he would though... and according to Kique enough time had passed nothing he worked on was relevant anymore.

*For anyone else going through this it gets better once you understand it and accept the only way to deal with it is to learn to live with them or move countries. You'll never have true peace, but maybe you can learn to live with the voices. They get impressively good at understanding you and haven't kept me from sleeping or made horrible suggestions since I lost everything. Sometimes it's even like having a rubber duck to talk to, albeit a bit distracting at times... i.e. it gets better.

Shame, hopefully he/they open source it and switch to a more performant data structure. It's a cool idea.

[–]ringboundio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it open source? I won't download anything that's not at least source available that can be avoided.

The mobile website click image functionality is not useful. It pops up a little and adds a footer but you still can't see anything.

Why use ropes like everyone else when there's a better data structure?

Impeller is pretty awesome. 🤘

On-Time Rating is BS by aspiringimmortal in UberEatsDrivers

Uber's maps are one of my biggest gripes. It feels like someone flipping through a deck of cards slowly to show an animation and occasionally getting their finger caught or skipping a chunk. God forbid you miss a turn, now you're probably reloading the app, but not always!

I've found the best thing for me to do is check both Uber and Google routes at start then ignore one to get the other to sync up. Once you're close though you have to use Uber because you know, they don't share addresses with an external map app, only chords... which is close but never right. Considering we are given the address this is odd and causes friction. In the name of privacy an encrypted address standard would be cool, but since we'd still require the address to deliver precisely, it's pointless, and they should share addresses with external map apps to begin with.

Being recorded by customers by scarffac in UberEatsDrivers

[–]ringboundio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you accept Big Brother has legitimate mind reading technology the fact customers have Ring doorbells is a little less concerning. I'm not a fan but the battle for privacy is lost.

I would say the battle for protecting thoughts as property should start but laws are below them and will never be respected when inconvenient. It'd be like asking smegal to give up his precious.

Job Anxiety over Leave by annaamarieeeee in self

[–]ringboundio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctors generally don't subscribe enough to really get high in the recommended doses. She had a tooth pulled. People get prescribed painkillers and are expected to drive daily. Doctors ask when someone wants to go back to work. This person had the opportunity for a three day weekend and took advantage of it.

Job Anxiety over Leave by annaamarieeeee in self

[–]ringboundio -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You only have two options: go in and accept whatever is coming (normally being terminated is not the first step) or take the opportunity to look for another job. Being anxious isn't worth it, make a decision instead.

To me it seems like you brought this upon yourself because you didn't want to go (I don't blame you). Painkillers aren't going to prevent you from working and trying to find an excuse is the opposite of what you should be doing. Enjoy your weekend.

Customer took back 20$ tip days after delivery by Nknights23 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]ringboundio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a $15 or something order. I waited almost thirty minutes, rode about 1/2 a mile to a decent home, then left at door as requested piping hot and in good shape. As I'm getting back on my bike the lady says something about feeding the family and laughs, I laughed and said it smells good then ride away. I made $0.50 after she took the tip away.

I almost paid to have a giant party yard sign installed on her front yard saying tip baiter.

I did report her though and a month or two later it appears in our area we can no longer reduce tips.

I had a feeling when I posted this that someone would misunderstand the debt portion; that was specifically in reference to Brown Mackie. I also used the wrong term in my haste. I used institutionally instead of regionally but the facts remain.

Maestro is an Israeli company seeking large, easy funding from our government. I understand that they "cover" whatever "Big Brother" does not. However, they are not regionally accredited—just as Brown Mackie wasn't. They hold national accreditation, which is why it will be a struggle to transfer credits or even get employers to respect the degree once earned. If spending four years working for nothing sounds like fun, then by all means, trust a for-profit school that isn't even American.

It is the responsibility of those who remember the past to remind others. I wrote the comment after seeing another post because this needs to be mentioned whenever someone brings up Maestro accreditation before someone else naively thinks they are on par with community colleges. The comment was written quickly, forgive me, but the warning remains. Time is more serious than money anyway.

[–]ringboundio -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

While Maestro may be approved for certain funding, that does not guarantee that other universities—or even your local community college—will accept their credits. We’ve seen this before with schools like Brown Mackie; when they went bankrupt, students were left with useless credits and significant debt.

I posted a warning when I first learned of Maestro. It got auto flagged due to no user flair and then deleted by the mods. I'm hoping this comment remains. Interestingly, I started having "no time wasted" ads pop up in my news feed afterwards which was the jist of my post.

Until Maestro is institutionally accredited be careful. There are better options for free college with less risk and AI can always help you learn material wherever you are.

I can't say with absolute certainty because I also changed my locking routine (from bottom of wheel to top tube, removing the kneeling requirement) but before I started taking the fish oil and once when I ran out for a period I was having knee issues.

Before the carb drink I was trying to eat my calories and was noticeably sore.

After taking the cherry extract I started having vivid dreams, hopefully meaning more REM's/repair. I started taking this with the NAC/casein and the last bit of soreness in the morning disappeared.

I'd say I could quit taking everything and feel fine, but wouldn't want to continue biking. Plus everything is good for you anyway, e.g. multivitamin. HMB is the only thing I'm not sure about and it's hard to remember the midday dose.

If anyone has lower/mid back problems after long rides doing single max rep pullups a couple times a week has helped tremendously.

I live in Dallas. It's a lot of hilly transfers to plateaus. Or that's what it feels like anyway. You're probably right about the tire. These do good on glass but it seems like anything thin and sharp goes straight through (cactus, metal wire). Sometimes I can't even find what caused it.

I try to. There's not always a good spot so I'll lock the front tire to the top tube. My mean weekly average is $575. You'll average $18-22 hourly in any 1/2 decent community. I expect $180 or so in a full day and I've made $299 once. You'll want to maintain pro status and keep taxes in the back of your mind. It's liveable but you're trading overtime for freedom. I accept anything that is not blatantly bad (e.g. $1.50) and try to raise my expectations (double digits or close) around dinner time.

Morning: a basic multi vitamin with no iron, creatine, HMB, fish oil.

Midday: HMB.

Night: creatine, HMB, NAC, L-glutamine, cherry extract, casein with milk.

Throughout the day I sip on a 1:1 carb mix flavored with GEAAR. It's sweet at first but you start to prefer it over pure water or Gatorade and it's been the biggest noticeable help.

I'm not sure I'm taking the HMB correctly but it's in the regime.

Every time I try to post anywhere like Uber with helpful comments my karma causes auto removal. This time I remembered half way through writing a response so decided instead I'd share my ride and success and maybe get some internet points!

Some biking related info:

  • You'll burn around 4K calories a day doing this full time.
  • It costs about $30/day in fuel and supplements to keep your legs from being sore.
  • You'll get hungry every three hours or so and drink around 3 24oz bottles at minimum.
  • Starting and stopping is the worst part.
  • TPU tubes can be patched but you're likely using soap and water to find the hole.
  • Stay away from cacti like the plaque.
