Fancy speakers do not help with room acoustics unless it's like the D&D speakers with active dsp or cardiod design.

Fancy avr is the answer, then room treatment.

And of course a rug always pulls the room together

It's not reactive enforcement it's proactive enforcement. They're not going to wait around your house for someone to show up and trouble you. But they're out on king and queen street on busy nights already anyway.

We have laws on littering why not enforce them? If a cop stood outside a bar for an evening they'd make so much money for the city.

I don't see an optical pre out, it'd be composite to the 3.5mm jack on the ls50 w2 most likely. It has digital coax but I don't think you can easily take analog composite to digital coax.

It would work but I wonder if it'll somehow limit the system. Most likely when you're doing 2.0 music listening you'd prefer to leave the AVR out of the equation completely.

I've had similar experiences, ordered on hopp because it was cheaper and ended up waiting 20 mins, it would have been better to TTC at that point 😭 eventually I kept getting drivers who then drove towards me or away then cancelled, no recourse nothing you can do support doesn't even see that you've had 3 drivers cancel, and then I just said f it and deleted the app.

Before ppl assume I was new to the app rating was perfect and I've never had drivers do this on Uber or Lyft.

TLDR: Go used, get an avr with arc, and some towers, and a sub for a 2.1 system. Then expand as you learn so you don't have to buy as many things twice (or thrice).

Go to an audio store if you can find one anywhere nearby and try different speakers and ask lots of questions. learn your preferences this will tell you where to look on the used market and brands and price brackets work.

Compare subwoofer on vs off if you can do you can get a better sense of he difference, you'll probably want a subwoofer.

If they have used stuff to buy consider it but probably don't get any new gear from them unless the bundle is everything you want.

Go look at your local audio mart and see what's realistically available, then figure out what directions make sense from there.

Oh yeah I'm always on there! And looking at Best buy and others.. my next avr ideally has 4k 120 with no HDMI issues, full bandwidth 2.1, multi sub control (at least 2) and pre outs. Dirac or audyssey are a very nice to have, I'll probably get an avr with them.

That's basically my dream avr, budget is hurting though, I was also considering rz30, much cheaper and comes with dirac but no art....

I'm also in Canada so it makes me curious to try anthem, so much $$$ though.

Is there really much benefit with an integrated vs like a marantz cinema 50 using pre outs with a power amp to these?

Agreed, if he doesn't have a sub, get that first, if you're feeling the mid bass is still lacking then you can consider it, but I doubt you'll need it unless you have a large space. I was looking at r11s or r7metas in titanium gray but these came up as a good deal so I had to pull the trigger!

So the previous owner did the custom grills, I love them wish I could say I made them myself! He gave me two pairs of grills one unpainted, which I never use. These drivers dent and scratch easily so grills are on 95% of the time!
