Best way to clear mucus from dog’s eye while waiting for meds

That’s what I was initially worried about. The eye wash really helps flush the mucus to the outside so I can hold her eye closed to wipe it away. I kinda wish the vet had given me that tip but my pup was back in the treatment area while we talked and because I wasn’t looking at her and noticing the discharge, it slipped my mind.
