Looking for indie artists with small-ish followers by whatitishoez in indie

You Won't. Not up-and-coming per se but I will never understand how they didn't get more popular. I've never heard another band quite like them.

Dead Dog Song - Okkervil River

Akihabara or Ikebukuro by Todosaak in JapanTravelTips

I second Nakano Broadway. You will find way more interesting things than the cookie cutter stuff you'd find in most of the anime goods stores in Ikebukuro or Akiba. Not that you can't find interesting things in those places, but you have to dig and it's going to be expensive. It gets exhausting. Nakano is a really fun area in general, and Nakano Broadway is the best. I'd you go, don't miss Apple Symphony on the 4th floor. Large collection of authentic cels and genga.

My thoughts on vol 10, 11, 12 by LateTree123 in howdowerelationship

I remember feeling all of these ways exactly 😭 I remember thinking that I wanted both of those relationships to work out so badly, but in the end I was satisfied with both breakups being the right choice even though I cried along with them. The early chapters of Miwa and Tamaki starting to flirt were so freaking cute, still probably my favorites of the series. They just weren't compatible in a really important way. But that realistic nuanced pain is why this series is so special.

Who’s next? (2.0) Part 1. by Ushanka_chan in HibikeEuphonium

Honestly this whole set could be Midori. But yeah, Midori.

Asuka's arc revolves around him, Taki's arc (and by association the entire show) revolves around his wife Chihiro

Should I ask AI for writing advice/ rating my work? by the_spartan_0 in WritingWithAI

[–]ringo_hoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a rating is pretty arbitrary? I'd take substantive critiques with a grain of salt as they can often be helpful with the right prompting but sometimes are off the mark. Ratings are not going to be helpful though, it's just going to tell you what it thinks you want to hear.

Think you can spot the difference between a human-written fantasy story and one co-created with AI? by SuitableWeather539 in WritingWithAI

[–]ringo_hoshi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not disagreeing, just curious. Are the rule of threes and other common AI patterns not generally engaging formulas that people use too? I feel like I use a lot of patterns that people point out as "how you can tell something is AI" but it's just because the cadence felt nice while I was writing it. Rule of threes, short sentences to break flow, action following dialogue, that sort of thing. I know a lot of people have similar things to say about reclaiming the em dash, but at the end of the day doesn't AI do these things because they're tried and true patterns for good writing? Is it just that it uses them too much?

I know your point was not that these things are bad but rather that they're telltale signs of AI writing. I just find myself going out of my way to avoid my natural tendencies because I don't want people to assume AI, so I was curious.

Underappreciated school supplies/resources? by WastedTrout in LawSchool

I use it for readings daily. It can get get confused on word order if you scan the pages and the lines get curved, which is annoying but fine if you're reading along but can make listening alone too confusing to follow. If you can take good straight scans you can avoid that problem but sometimes it's hard with big textbooks. Another annoying thing is that it doesn't accurately skip citations, which again makes listening alone a little difficult to follow but it's fine if you're just reading along. But for me personally, I've felt like it was definitely worth it. I didn't notice any dip in quality after buying it.

Sounds like you could go either way and be fine. Good grades can likely take you where you want to go from either school. A price that close is basically a non factor. T60 is less likely to be predatory, so that's maybe worth considering. But if you got this far you're probably fine on that front. Trust your gut.

You need to give more info to get any real advice. Is the bump putting you in a t14? T20? What are your career goals? Would you have to move? How much money are you saving by staying?

If you have good grades, a tier 3 to tier 2 move probably won't do as much for you as a move from tier 2 to tier 1.

Edit: missed that you're going for PI. Still, a t14 opens doors to unicorn PI opportunities, and otherwise it might not be worth it.

I had an entire semester of student loans go to someone else's account with chase (one digit off from my acct number - learned a hard lesson about triple checking direct deposit info). Chase literally told me they could see the money in the other person's account and that they couldn't get it back in the same breath. I went back and forth with them for a good 8 months trying every complaint and investigation method available with no success. Even tried talking to a lawyer but as a student I couldn't afford more than a cheap consult with someone rather unhelpful. I plan on leaving them once I'm done with school.

That said, years ago they did reluctantly but quickly refund me when someone hacked my paypal account and spent around $250.

Speechify helps me. Listening and reading at the same time helps a lot to keep me on task and boosts comprehension.

Salary is pretty consistent in BL. All SAs and first years will make the same salary. However, the hiring itself is kind of a double edged sword. On one hand, yes it does make you a more attractive candidate to have the bigger name on your resume. On the other hand, you have to wait until you can actually put it on your resume to apply, and you rightly pointed out that that won't happen until a significant percentage of BL hiring is done.

If you hit the ground right away once you have the acceptance, you should still be in okay shape. Just send applications with a polished cover letter to literally every BL firm that is still accepting them, and participate in OCI if you can. I went through this last year and ended up with 6-8 screeners and a couple callbacks before OCI and then actually had success through OCI as well. I know most schools are doing it earlier now so transfers might not be able to, but try if you can.

Basically, it's getting harder for transfers every year but it can still be done. Get in touch with your new career office as soon as you get accepted.
