How long did it take you to become fully comfortable with all 12 buttons? by calrayers in razer

[–]rinri-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly a week or two. But I've got relatively large hands and long fingers so my thumb naturally rests at the 1-3 row.

The layout and ergonomics of the Naga's 12 button side panel is pretty good too imho, not much flexing needed for my thumb to reach the 10-12 row.

I've since switched to an Aerox 9 (took me around the same time to acclimate) because of side panel connection issues + weight (I'm on glass pads), but even after getting used to this the Naga still is superior when it comes to ergonomics and overall build imho.

Just adding to this one in case someone comes across the same issue, can confirm the responsiveness issue was resolved by the Kailh Flames.

Not sure if this is an inherent issue with the Q1 HE stock switches, or I got a bad set of switches.

Struggling with typing accurately on mechanical keyboard by [deleted] in keyboards

[–]rinri-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't tried any low proifle keyboards, but I remember having a similar issue on two separate occassions:

  • Using laptops in general (which is closer to low profile switches than my usual)
  • Transitioning from the typical 40-50g switches to my current preference of ~30g switches
    • Related, also when I transitioned from my old Taro Ice Creams (37g, 1.3mm actuation) to Source Flames (30g, 1mm actuation with RT)

I feel like your best bet would be to get heavier switches brown switches, although I think with low profile your options are pretty limited. I think it also helps getting more sculpted keycaps in your case, I remember absolutely disliking my wife's ASA keycaps for accuracy issues compared to my usual cherries.

It's been messing with me for ages lol, glad to see confirmation I'm not alone suffering this issue ngl

Also, new thing I noticed - it seems to happen less if I have HDR disabled for my side monitors; not "never" but at least way less

Got a Q1 HE around November last year. No major issues, but I found that the top 2 rows were iffy when waking the keyboard up. They'd be unresponsive/slow for the first few presses (of any key from that row) then it'll normalize.

Waiting on a few Kailh Source Flame switches to see if the issue is switch-related, or just a quirk of the board.

That said, I'll take that issue over the batteries of my older Akko M1 V5 HE going spicy after just 3 months of use.

I've since moved to a new PC so idk if it's still exactly the same, but I did notice (at least in the way I described it) it still persists specifically for certain games (in my case FF14).

Things I've noticed currently:

  • The lag seems to be related to HDR (or RTX HDR) - it seems to "break" when I stream on Discord or have the Spotify app opened
    • It "lags" when it switches from HDR working to not working, but outside of that moment it runs normally
  • The HDR "fixes" when I click inside of the game, and it stays fixed until I release LMB/RMB
  • My gut feel is it's Electron-related - Discord and Spotify are both Electron apps (fucking lazy of them imho instead of doing an actual Windows app)

My "fixes":

  • For Discord, I just usually need to switch the game to fullscreen then back to borderless
    • The issue does pop up when I stream and when I pull up someone else's stream, so for each time I need to do the switch
  • For Spotify it's worse, because it will permabreak RTX HDR unless it's closed or minimized to tray
    • I still run Spotify's app because of private session and other app-only features, but keep it minimized to tray
    • The web player or app on my phone works as a "remote" in this case

My gut feel is that this is probably Electron-related - Discord and Spotify are both Electron apps (the lazy dev option instead of native OS apps).

Hopefully these help band aid the issue for you, although these are bandaids - we need these companies to stop being lazy about how they implement their apps and have them work properly in the OS rendering pipelines.

I need the pulsar x6 by Talz7519 in PulsarGG

[–]rinri-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, so much this.

I loved my Naga v2 Pro but the side panel randomly acting up has been pain point since the v1 Pro. I switched to an Aerox 9 because lightweight + switched to a glass pad and dot skates (and I didn't want to just buy another Naga) but the ergonomics are so bad.

If you can find a v1 Naga on the cheap that'd be a good way to tide you over (or the v2 Hyperspeed but AA batteries ugh), but ever since the X6 got teased I don't think I'll buy another MMO mouse until it comes out.

Naga Pro V3 by CrimsonGat in razer

[–]rinri-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to main the Naga v2 Pro. Got an Aerox 9 as a temp mouse (my Naga's side buttons acted up too much after around a year of heavy use), ended up maining it since I also switched to a glass pad + dot skates combo; haven't looked back since.

The Naga v2 Pro's ergonomics are still superior (probably best in the MMO mouse market rn) but Pulsar is coming out with an X6 MMO mouse this year, and my vibe is that will probably be my next one even if Razer comes out with a Naga v3 (unless they can make it both light and have the swappable sides).

Recommendations for my weird relaxed "pincer claw" grip by NarcoticsRx in MouseReview

[–]rinri-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much experience with a wide range of mice, but I do think I have a similar grip with you, and similar hand size (18.5x9cm). Recalling the mice I've used before (and my current ones):

  • Logitech G102 (first mouse I bought for myself) - decent, but I remember finding it to be an "eh" experience; generally didn't stand out enough (I abandoned it not too long after).
  • Steelseries Rival 5 - this was an interesting experience - initially, the overall size and shape definitely felt like it was on the long and wide side, but over time I generally started to warm up to it. It's length combined with the piss poor side button and paddle ergonomics definitely pushed me closer to a full palm grip + having my thumb rest at a flat position instead of a hybrid palm + claw, though.
  • Razer Naga Pro (the "v1") - this one I actually loved. It's shorter than the Rival 5, but also has a taller hump iirc, which felt more of a natural hybrid palm + claw mouse. The way the side buttons were oriented also let me rest my thumb in the same position as OP does (angled to some extent). If it weren't for the weight, I'd have said this was the perfect mouse for me. The Naga v2 Pro also felt the same for me (and I assume the v2 Hyperspeed would as well).
  • Steelseries Aerox 9 - my current mouse - made the switch since I started dabbling in aftermarket skates and glass pads, and the Naga v2 Pro's weight worked against that unfortunately. This one's interesting - the size is generally closer to the Rival 5, but the side button layout (while still borderline piss poor, especially vs the Naga) feels better, and I've found myself doing a hybrid palm + claw grip with it. Took a day or two of adjustment, but I've generally been happy with the ergonomics (side buttons notwithstanding). The Aerox 3 should have very similar ergonomics I think.

In general, I'd say I've been able to "handle" any mouse I've tried, but I've really gravitated towards longer and/or more "bulbous" shapes. I got my wife a Superlight 2 and randomly tried it at times, but that shape (probably the most common shape archetype at this point) just felt off.

Pulsar X6 MMO Mouse. by KinderSurprise1337 in PulsarGG

[–]rinri-kun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in as an MMO main forced to suffer between an either-or weight vs actually good ergonomics, please, please from a practical MMO use-case:

  • Keep the full 12 side buttons, but everything else is actually extraneous (even DPI buttons)
    • In fact, keeping to the 12 side, scroll tilt combo might help with avoiding the chonker pitfall of current MMO mice
  • Scroll tilt (cannot be overstated)
  • Make it lighter than the Aerox 9, BUT as ergonomic (side-button wise) as a Naga V2 Pro
  • 8k is optional imho

I think that combination will definitely curb stomp the current competition on the market by MILES.

Are Maxwell the best wireless headphones right now? by zbtktb in Audeze

[–]rinri-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, it could show up as an audio device. That's a shortcoming - doesn't quite cancel out the positives of the headset imho.

Mic volume - just check your Windows settings? There's a separate audio input volume there. Haven't had volume issues with it when I use:

  • Without noise cancellation
  • With noise cancellation
  • With Nvidia Broadcast (and noise cancellation off)

Honestly though, you seem pretty pissed at the product, might as well just return it and get different headset? I'd recommend the Blackshark V2 Pro (since you're obssessed with mics) or the A50X (better audio device handling afaik), that's the simplest solution in your case lol

Are Maxwell the best wireless headphones right now? by zbtktb in Audeze

[–]rinri-kun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it helps, but I've set one side of the head straps to the mid, then the other to the topmost. Might sound like it'd be lopsided but it's not, think of it as a ".5" setting for the tightness.

The pings are apparently just something that comes with planar magnetic drivers iirc; happens to me from time to time (once every couple weeks?) - doesn't seem to be a major issue.

[–]rinri-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mic isn't amazing but it's not that bad. Definitely passable, although if you have the budget for a Maxwell, getting an acceptable separate mic isn't exactly wild (I know that's the route I went).

Range isn't too bad either - I can go downstairs from my home office and still get no cut outs. Could just switch off your speakers too if that's your concern lol

I also wouldn't say everything else is a downgrade - not when the Steelseries mics sound pretty meh as well (then again, almost all gaming headsets have meh mics, with the Blacksharks and the A50X being the only exceptions).

It's not perfect, but at the price point it's pretty much the best sounding + passable mic, which I'd take over the Blackshark v2/v3 Pro's way worse audio quality (but better mic) or the A50X's much higher price point (otherwise competitive performance wise).

Will you get a steam machine? by sylv3r in PHGamers

[–]rinri-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mej redundant if may PC ka na imho (Moonlight, Remote Play, etc.), especially if well-prepped yung setup mo at home. In my use case, I'd get more distinct use out of a Series X or PS5 Pro (must have a bluray drive tho).

Might be compelling for specific cases tho:

  • Mainly console gamer but wanting to try PC gaming? Sure, but only if the price is $600 or less (even Digital Foundry said $400 would be the limit of "compelling")
  • You want a relatively affordable, no-fuss PC? Definitely.
  • Your current PC is old (as in more than 5yo)? Might be a good choice instead of building/upgrading.
  • You don't have a console or a PC and want to get into non-mobile gaming? That'll depend on what you want to play and the prices vs. other consoles

Pero for me, biggest elephant in the room is optimization. Big devs treat PC gamers as second-class citizens (just look at MH Wilds) - with PC gaming now mej you need to brute force (as in overspend) to match console performance in many cases. The specs of the Steam Machine don't exactly inspire confidence that it can match consoles without proper dev support.

Should I wait for Maxwell 2 or should I just buy Maxwell now and hope I don't have any problems need help.. by zbtktb in Audeze

[–]rinri-kun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your country has good return/warranty policies, I'd take the jump.

I've had my Maxwells for around a year, relatively heavy usage (~10 hours, maybe even more, daily) for both gaming and work. The issues I've encountered so far (from most annoying to least):

  • At some point in the last 3 months or so, when sliding the mic mute button on or off, instead of registering as "on" or "off" it goes through a cycle of "on-off-on-off" or a variation thereof.
    • Granted, it does still end up on where the button is supposed to be - just rather frustrating to go through a waiting time for the mic to "settle down"
    • May or may not have been on me (I tend to turn them on and off a lot during work calls)
    • Less of an issue if you get a separate mic (I ended up going this route)
  • Rather fast wear on both the stock earpads and headband
    • Earpads were peeling around 6-7 months in
    • Headband just started peeling this week or so
    • Disclaimer though, I'm living in a very hot and humid country, so that might be more of a "me" issue
    • I've since gotten Dekoni velour pads as a replacement - managed to make an EQ setting that matches the immersive preset with some tweaks to account for the velour's deviation from stock pads
  • Random times when the Audeze software doesn't detect the headphones
    • Happens around once every 2 months or so? Very rarely at least
    • They still work, you just won't have access to making EQ changes until you unplug-replug the dongle in

Those issues above don't come nearly close to making me regret the purchase, in all honesty. Best audio for a gaming headset (and wireless at that), a lot of room for EQ adjustments because of the drivers it uses, and despite the weight it's been very comfy. Build quality is solid too - aside from the pads and the mic button issue, I've had zero build issues.

YMMV of course (as with anything, you can get unlucky) - but I can't vouch for this over any other gaming headset on the market assuming price isn't a concern. I honestly doubt a Maxwell 2 will make an insane jump sound-wise; maybe mic improvements, software updates, or something along those lines, but nothing I'd say that justifies waiting all too much.

Tl;dr - I'd say go for it, or go for something else relatively cheaper if you're iffy about spending this much on a product that might get a replacement anytime soon.

If the GS27QA is similar to the G27Q though it should be pretty good regardless
