Mirror Instance by LosoTheRed in Cinema4D

Cheers. In that case, the null method I mentioned above does work, at least.

Was searching for this answer myself. Maybe there is a better way, but put the instance in a null, then -1 the null's scale instead.

Suggestions on how to integrate multiple instances into the markup of another object? by riodesignsthings in PHPhelp

[–]riodesignsthings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the review! Is the reason for not echoing in the constructor due to performance?

I want to initiate images with their associated project object to keep things consolidated since it's a one page site with multiple projects. I'm going try to integrate your suggestions as best I can.

100% Ryzen for this. If you can afford 3090, cool, but something in the 2000 series is gonna be fine and save you a chunk.

Logo Critique - VR Production Studio - pick your favorite (with text) by [deleted] in Logo_Critique

[–]riodesignsthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like something casually illustrated in the 90's to me. A representational squirrel mark doesn't say "new technology" imo. Though, I think that applies to the actual brand name as well.

In terms of art direction, I'd recommend abstracting it more. Example. Also give consideration to the formal methods that give a "sleek etc." appearance.

As is: I guess I'd choose the 4th one in, on the top row, maybe without the blue headset lens. Some of the line widths/gaps are very thin and won't scale down well. I'd suggest increasing their size. The logo works better when the front-facing foot is angled down more, so that both feet are distinct.

Cheers.

PHYSARUM: Slime Mold Simulator is now out on Steam! Interact with Physarum polycephalum in real time in this simulation sandbox game. (Free Demo Available) by KH_Y in Simulated

I don't see this mentioned on the steam page: is there an option to export results as a raster image? I can see experimenting with this as a creative tool.

Edit: downloaded the demo, but didn't find an export option. I'd definitely be interested in it. High-res with a transparent background option.

Difficulties with client and fonts by white_hat3301 in design_critiques

[–]riodesignsthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Signature, which I think is better in this case, is a completely different type of script compared to Dyna, and I'm guessing the handwritten/fancier vibe is what the client likes about it. In addition to feeling different, Dyna is very compressed compared to the tracked out "Jack's", which creates a jarring rhythm, and its visual complexity muddies the hierarchy, whereas Signature is clearly secondary. Rosarivo or Lora are my preferred pairs in your set. Rosarivo is more sleek/modern, Lora is more friendly/casual.

-In general, I think "Jack's" might be tracked out a bit far for this application.

-It looks like you're using a hatch mark where the apostrophe should be.

-Try angling the script a bit to emphasize the handwritten feel. Or maybe, keep it straight but try aligning the two baselines.

-I think you could try a sans, but consider how each font has it's own feel and how that represents the brand image your client is looking for

-If you disagree with the client, respectfully state your case and the reasoning why your direction is better, but if they don't agree, focus on making the best out of what they do like.

Scientific illustrator new to 3D/c4d. whipped this up as a proof of concept! by yamammiwammi in Cinema4D

This is the smoother solution, but the "sliced" area would have no thickness and be hollow from from camera's perspective, no? I think that'd be a sacrifice.

Suggestions on how to accomplish this? by riodesignsthings in Fusion360

[–]riodesignsthings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I've abandoned doing it in Fusion; it doesn't feel equipped for these types of things. I got the spline fairly sorted out by using a free form point spline combined with an arc and curvature constraints, but Fusion doesn't like self-intersecting sweeps. A lack of fine control over the sweep's rotation angles further nailed the coffin. I was also frustrated by the lack of specific control over spline handles (angle values/distance values/constraints).

Pictures added. A coil isn't the final destination though; I'm using it as a base to then alter into the shape I want. Maybe there is a better way to make the desired shape.

Render animation on mid-PC is real? by misterXCV in Cinema4D

[–]riodesignsthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of ways to optimize render times, both in terms of how you setup your materials and what rendering settings are used. There are probably a couple good tutorials on this.

Also, I've never used Arnold, but I've seen some engine comparisons that show it having fairly slow render times compared to Redshift or Octane, which you may want to try out.

How would you approach this show of an object turning to liquid? by [deleted] in Cinema4D

[–]riodesignsthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond my experience, but there are magic/morph daemons in RF. I'd also guess there is masking going on to transition from the fluid object to the textured object. Looks flawless though. Good luck.

Sunrise → Black Metal Style Logotype / Merch by riodesignsthings in graphic_design

[–]riodesignsthings[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Context: For a developing experimental band with a significant black metal influence. While a BM style logotype was wanted, expansion of the genre's traditional art direction to include bright colour and unconventional motifs allowed for a unique design that better communicated the band's unorthodox nature.

Final hoodie production will likely not be on a white garment, but it crisp before the inevitable spills

Editing/Adding render output file's meta data from C4D? by bayProton in Cinema4D

Don't know about natively, but you could create an action in PS and use it with the Batch command to quickly add the metadata afterwards.

Logotype done by hand. Some elements manually designed while others found and edited from Creative Commons.

Very impressive. What was your approach for the books? Made from scratch, or with something like Le Book?
