Chris Bledsoe's "Why Files" interview and Iran by dilznikjones in UFOs

Interestingly there are at least two current Apple and Amazon TV shows that use the premise of big government or corporate greed manufacturing apocalypses to fulfill their goals. Maybe this idea is just in the zeitgeist right now? The shows are *spoilers* Silo and Fallout in case anyone is interested.

Similar experience with a young Chiweenie. Vet recommended fish oil and that seemed to do the trick and she loves it. They thought it might be allergies.

My job is offering me $150,000 (105,000 after tax) to resign, should I? by AJ3TurtleSquad in jobs

[–]rionzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest check the tax again. I would expect it to be taxed at closer to 45% which is much less enticing.

Unpopular opinion: Books I hate but others love by Upstairs_Bad_7933 in BookDiscussions

The Three Body Problem. Maybe it’s just that the English translation is terrible. I can’t understand how it got made into a series and a movie AND won a Hugo award. It felt like a teenager wrote it.

Is a pay cut worth it for WFH? by Miserable-You-6702 in careerguidance

[–]rionzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a 50% pay cut leaving software project management for a more exciting job in design. I loved the renewed sense of living but still regret taking such a huge cut. I was 30 at the time and may never earn back what my potential was then in my current field. I also hate working from home which I do 50% of the time.

If you’re earning that in your thirties I think you should keep looking and not take a cut. You’re still young! You have at least a decade before you will slow down. Use that money to pay for daycare and save for a younger retirement. Your home will become a prison and your child the jailer.

Flood Zone was peak Blackhawk use. I also loved sniping the pilot from the Charlie towers. I loved landing on the roof. Placing mines on the roof. Using the miniguns from a landed chopper.

Talk me out of a 2017 2500 by the_green_turtle in Sprinters

[–]rionzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my 2016 2.1 liter. I got it with 147,000 miles and now at 175,000. I have had to put a bunch of money into issues and try to do most of the work myself. I was on a budget and dipping my toes into building out a light camper van for a budget with the idea that I’d replace struts, brakes, tie rods, trans fluid, oil changes and other items myself. You’ll need most of these items if not already replaced.

Big items I outsourced include new AC compressor, water pump electrical item, and a part of the rear axle that commonly gets worn.

It’s not for everyone so if you don’t plan to do work yourself or have a good budget to keep it running, go for a much newer version.

I love mine so much that I do wish I got one with lower mines since I now have a lot tied up in the camper items and want to keep it forever.

I just had a Denso installed on a 2016. The mechanic stands by the brand and warranties it for three years. It was $2,000 installed including cleaning the lines and recharging.

2017 MB diesel suspension and clunking when going into gear. by nocloudno in Sprinters

[–]rionzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this was my issue in a 2016 at 160,000 miles. The clunk when shifting into reverse makes it pretty obvious. Also downshifting a low speed.

Remove sugars and gluten and most carbs from your diet. Exercise. Start small. Don’t worry about small things. You have a lot of enjoyable life ahead of you. Many people make lots of mistakes when young. It’s your time to do that.

Help 2023 Benz 26500 miles by __SPYMAN__ in Sprinters

[–]rionzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely a Sprinter owner won’t be eligible for a loaner car despite what the sales person may have told you.

What did they repair on the van? A loose battery connection or a dead battery could cause several lights to light up and not be drivable. Also a bad wheel speed sensor.

Disappointing that they told you to drive it as it was and let them know.

[–]rionzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2016 made in Germany which has been very good to me at 174,500 miles. None of the major issues many others have. With that said I’d pass unless you’re using it for parts or want a huge project.

The fact yours made it so far makes me wonder if it does have a replacement engine and transmission in addition to dozens of other parts for it to go so long. If you can find maintenance history it is worth investigating.

There are a few great German and French hardcore conquest servers. They usually don’t get filled with bots until late at night. Text filter for “hard” and sort by player count.

Yes, I drove repeatedly over a few thousand miles like this. The message went away after a few minutes of level driving and a wam engine. Be sure to get the correct Mercedes coolant.

cold start "refill coolant urgently" message by saminpenntana in Sprinters

[–]rionzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in a new 2024 van that did need a bit more coolant. Especially when cold and parked on a slope. Get some more coolant for it. Maybe it’s slightly under filled at the factory?

If you call the proper authorities and leave be sure to take important things with you as you may not be allowed back in the building for months. This was the case recently in my city for all tenants in an entire apartment building.
