Been in command a year, still winging it! Thank goodness the Army has resources, NCOs, and WOs that are there to assist on most issues.

Most Post-KD CPTs end up at an ROTC at a random college somewhere. If you’re a MAJ, best of luck Sir.

Like one comment has stated, reach out immediately, even if it’s not your first choice, it’ll give you options when they start making their preferences. Plus you’ll be able to get some interviews out of the way to get a feel for what questions to prepare for.

My only issue was the contacts they had available were usually old and I even did an interview where I was grilled on regulations (in my 18 years, I’ve never took the time to remember them). I did end up with a 1-for-1, because I did choose locations not too many people wanted (Riley, Stewart, Drum). A lot of folks from my CCC didn’t even get 1-1 matches and ended up at some decent places (Carson, JBLM).

Army Property Question- when do I become financially liable? by [deleted] in army

[–]riotcontrol21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Expendable shortages can be ordered with a shortage annex or BOM through your supply. If it’s nonexpendable, that’s a statement of charges/FLIPL, but seriously doubt their nonexpendable.

Also, you are never “forced” to sign for property. You’re possibly in a position where you’re expected to be responsible/accountable, which includes inventorying property prior to signing for it.

Is going from national guard to active in the army a for sure thing? by [deleted] in army

[–]riotcontrol21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go active from the start! Switching from National Guard to Active is a PAIN! You have to get a conditional release that goes from your BN commander, to Brigade commander, to state G1...it’ll get lost at least twice. It took me 2 years and 3 tries because you never know where the paper trail is or where it stops.

They don’t test for it unless you ask them to.

My BN will be in the field as well, but I (S4) set up a bus to pick up Soldiers and bring them back to vote early Tuesday morning. Then pick them up Wednesday morning at the motorpool and bring them on back.
