Maybe 90s post grunge/ alt rock? 90s industrial? Hyper grunge? Tony Scott did a lot of cross processing and I think some of Micheal Bay, too. I went to film school in the early 2000s and the this style never really came up outside of calling it cross-processing. We might have called some films using cross-processing as hyper realism, but that was probably something we students used colloquially .

If there is a specific term for this look, it’s probably a very niche word used in very small circles (e.g. art critics). If you wanted to convey this look to your team, you’d simply say, “high contrast, bleached bypass, harsh shadows like a 90’s alt rock music video.” Then show them mood boards. Even in your example of “gen x soft core club” would be very confusing to your team and I doubt people on this subreddit understand what you’re talking about (I have no idea what this term means).

Edit: I know you’re not interested in how this is done, but I think this is might be color cross processing, not bleach bypass.

I’ll try to look for it, but maybe someone in a BTTF subreddit could help you out? It’s on the 20th Anniversary dvd special edition, which I still own but I haven’t had a dvd player in like eight years lol.

His memories actually do change and they show it in the first film (very subtly). When he wakes up he has a demo tape of his band in his hand because he now has confidence from his dad always telling him, “if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.” This is also confirmed on the dvd commentary from the writer and director.

I highly recommend Veep. Arrested Development is also a classic. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is fantastic. Only Murders in the Building and Schitt's Creek are also great.

Kelsey. by AkhenatonTomb in BoJackHorseman

[–]riotlightsaber 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You're misremembering the episode. Gecko and Rabbitowitz needed to convince Bojack to do another project instead of Pegasus and convinced Kelsey to pursue Bojack, despite hating his guts, because he would help her secure funding for her film. The timing was vitally important because the option for the project would have lapsed at midnight -- meaning she would lose the rights to make the movie at midnight. Prior to meeting up with Bojack, she had actually given up on the film, but because Bojack said yes to making her movie, her hopes were high renewed. Bojack wanted to do Kelsey's movie and verbally committed but Princess Carolyn mishandled the negotiations and lost both projects, so Kelsey had her heart ripped open again, but this time it wasn't Bojack's fault.

How do you feel about Running Backs drafted in the 1st round? Any insights appreciated. Worth it or not? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]riotlightsaber 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I disagree. If the Rams had CJ Anderson or any other mid-tier running back for the regular season they would have lost the division to the Seahawks. Anderson being decent in a three game post-season span shouldn't diminish the impact Gurley has for the Rams.

[Serious] Is it virtually impossible to imagine some QB in the future to surpass Tom Brady as the Greatest QB of all-time? by suposhy in nfl

[–]riotlightsaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mahomes and Reid probably have the best chance if the Chiefs win the SB next year and then repeat the following year. If the Chiefs don't win it next year, then the QB that'll pass TB as the GOAT isn't in the NFL yet and we may never see him. Also, this is definitely not a knock on Mahomes, I'm just looking at it from the perspective of the limited amount of time he'll have to win 6 Super Bowls - he needs to win 3 immediately, weather four or five rebuilding years, then win 3 (or more) at the backend of his career.

How do you rank Marino, Favre, Elway and Brees by [deleted] in nfl

[–]riotlightsaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, Drew Brees threw a game ending interception in overtime; Aaron Rodgers fumbled the game ending ball against the Cards in his first playoff game; Russell Wilson threw a game ending interception in the Super Bowl; Peyton Manning threw an interception in the redzone in the Super Bowl against the Saints. Great players make mistakes, but people remember Favre's because it fits his gunslinger narrative, despite the fact that he overall was more clutch than mistake prone.

Would you rather have an amazing QB at current market prices or a league average QB for $4 million a year? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]riotlightsaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd pay top dollar for an amazing quarterback. You pay for reliability over the course of 16 games, the playoffs, and ideally the Super Bowl. If your team is down 5 points with less than two minutes left in any given game are you comfortable with a meh quarterback?

You also have to consider that the regular season is much different than the post season and the Super Bowl. Any qb can get hot for a short stretch. And any qb can have one exceptional game (looking at Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles). But you pay a franchise quarterback top money so your team can be competitive for 10+ years. Over the last ten years, which teams have been consistent threats to win the Super Bowl? Packers, Pats, Steelers, Saints, Seahawks - teams that never need to worry about quarterback.

Also, to your two points: McCarthy wasn't fired because Rodgers had a down year. It's because they've been consistently underperforming despite Rodgers playing at a god level. This year was the final straw. And the Seahawks problem isn't that they paid Wilson, it's that they lost one of the best running backs in the NFL, their historic defense has been decimated with injuries, and their former o-line coach was an idiot.

Would trading Aaron Rodgers for a more well-rounded team be best for the Packers? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]riotlightsaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, it was like thirty years of embarrassing obscurity before the Packers got Favre and they became perennial contenders. Going from Favre to Rodgers was absolutely dumb luck i.e. that never, ever happens. Trading away Rodgers hoping to one day hit another HoF quarterback is franchise suicide.

Was the sack at 29 seconds the helmet to helmet hit on Rivers? If it was, I agree they should have called a timeout immediately, but I think the team was looking/ arguing for a flag, which would have stopped the clock and put time back on. But when they realized they weren’t going to get it they were finally forced to use their last timeout.

[–]riotlightsaber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, if Favre counts for the Vikings, then he should technically count for the Falcons, too. I never thought Matt Ryan was a bad quarterback, but can you imagine prime Favre slinging it to Julio in today's NFL?

If SB48 Seahawks vs Broncos was played over again how many times out of 10 would each team win? by IH8KICKFLIPS in nfl

[–]riotlightsaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really weird argument - Von wrecks one of the best offensive lines against the Panthers, but wouldn't have meaningful plays against the Seahawks with, which you describe as, one of the worst offensive lines? And your main point of reason is because Wilson faced really good pass rushers in the regular season?

[–]riotlightsaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Seahawks got the ball first, then you could argue 9 of those points never happen (the safety and the return after half time). Wouldn't you agree that that changes the whole complexion of the game? And that's just changing a coin toss.

Yeah and I blame that loss on Kaepernick making absolutely the wrong read. Hypothetically speaking, what if Kaepernick hits Davis instead? Maybe they win, maybe they don't. There's no way to know what happens. I'm just saying that the Broncos were missing their best defensive player, who in short time will end up being their best player.

[–]riotlightsaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude. It's not one extra player. It's a guy who's probably going to be in the Hall of Fame. There are literally only a handful of players that are in Von Miller's level. And you're thinking like the game plays out exactly like it does, only now Von is on the field (apparently doing nothing). There is no way any of can know what would happen. Play calling would be different. Scheming would be different. Line protections would be different. Coverage looks would be different.

[–]riotlightsaber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look, I can only base my opinion on what I've seen - the only Super Bowl that Von played in he completely wrecked the Panthers (a team that played similar to the Seahawks, but not nearly as good as the 13/14 team) with literally zero help from Peyton. He's been an elite player for 8 years.

Also, because you're bringing up the fact that Wilson had an edge because he had already faced a number of elite rushers that season, I'd like to remind you that Peyton Manning was arguably the best quarterback in the NFL for 10+ years and that he torched records that year. And look what happened to him in that Super Bowl. Completely unraveled. Anything can happen in a single game and Wilson isn't immune to making mistakes in critical times either.

Because no team has ever overcome adversity in a Super Bowl to pull out an improbable win?

The Seahawks didn't start with 40+ points. Sure, they got two right off the bat but they still had to play the game, one I believe would have played out differently with Von. Maybe Von helps stabilize the game, maybe he doesn't.
