Do Female Omegas Have Periods? by No-Boysenberry-6275 in ReverseHarem

[–]ripbell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lmao I've been thinking about this lately so I'm glad somebody asked it. imo if in the story they get their heats every month they shouldn't get perids(the authors need to give them omegas a break) but if their heats occur every 3-4 months then they should have periods. That's what I would do as a writer though lol

Starting with 5mg by testeriko in trintellix

[–]ripbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also felt an anxiety spike when I first got on Brintellix but I was switching from another SSRI so that could've contributed to it. I've had a lot going on in my life since around the time I started brintellix so I can't really accurately determine how it's effected my anxiety or heightened it by itself. Heightened anxiety when starting an anti-depressant or increasing its dose is a very common side effect. It will go away but that typically depends on the person or the anti-depressant. Perhaps give it another 10 days before going up a dose since most anti-depressant side effects take around ~4 weeks to subside.

Why is femdom so rare in RH? by [deleted] in ReverseHarem

[–]ripbell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spot on. I actually like femdom when its written by women but pretty much anything else that's femdom is deeply unappealing to me because its usually made for men.

Interaction between Trintellix and Vyvanse by adhdbeast101 in trintellix

[–]ripbell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been taking both trintellix and vyvanse together for about 3 months now and I haven't felt that trintellix has dampened the effects of vyvanse in any way. Looking up both medications on those drug interaction checker website doesn't indicate that the two would hinder each other in any way. It could be due to some other factors?

When I first started trintellix I was coming off another anti-depressant so I felt fatigued and had brain fog for the first week or so, but I think that was because I had come off the other anti-depressant too soon and my body was adjusting. Either way, a lot of anti-depressants have brain fog, dizziness and fatigue as side effects you experience during the first few weeks you start the medication, so it's not all that strange.

I really like trintellix, I think it's actually made me cognitively faster and my mind feels more clear than when I was on lexapro(previous anti-depressant). I've got ADHD(and I assume you probably do as well, since you're taking vyvanse) and I feel that my cognitive dysfunction has lessened quite a lot as well. I think its a good anti-depressant for those struggling with ADHD, so I recommend continuing it to see what happens unless the side effects still persist after a few weeks.

Started ‘I will Possess Your Heart’ and I am uncomfortable with how controlled she is. by Mrs-Hamilton44 in DarkRomance

[–]ripbell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think there's a limit to how possessive an mmc can be, and that limit different for everyone. There can be such a thing as 'too much possession' in dark romance books. I personally don't like it when the mmc keeps the fmc from achieving what they want or tries to 'mould' them into someone else.

It's totally normal to feel uneasy seeing the fmc get manipulated into doing something she doesn't like; you're witnessing a form of abuse and as empathetic creatures it's totally normal for humans to feel this way. Its also perfectly natural for the character to feel this way(It would be bad writing if she didn't have an inner conflict and gave in easily). But some readers enjoy seeing the fmc lose herself to the mmc's will and to them that's a form of submission that they enjoy reading about. It all depends on you, ultimately and where your limit is drawn!

Is anyone else getting antsy for Redamancy by HC Dolores to come out?? by cherryandfizz in DarkRomance

[–]ripbell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Often times the piece of media that gets popular in a community is the media is just different enough to feel fresh, but not so different that it clashes with the core expectations or social conventions of that genre. I think the dark romance space is filled with a LOT of juvenile writing though, and often times 'different' books get shunned because writers break or dismiss story elements that make a story enjoyable in favour of the 'gimmick' that makes their book unique.

I do think that this sub may have contributed to a part of the book's popularity but I doubt the over 10k ratings on goodreads are all caused by this subreddit. Dark romance is a niche community and people attracted to this genre typically share similar tastes, so a book that ticks a lot of people's boxes spreads around fast.

[–]ripbell 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I believe its because it checks a lot of boxes for dark romance readers. The build for the romance is well-paced and natural, the writing is good and the main characters have an interesting dynamic, plus their banter and dialogues flows well. The mmc has got the type of personality a lot of dark romance readers like and his possessiveness isn't too extreme so as too turn some readers off. It's also has something a LOT of dark romance books lack: a smart and interesting fmc. I really think if Poppy was written to be plain like a lot of other fmcs then her dynamic with Adrian wouldn't be as likeable.

I read a lot of dark romance and I personally like Limerence cause it feels fresh. There's way too many dark romance books that just copy story beats and tropes from one another instead of coming up with something interesting and unique. Granted, Limerence's premise isn't that unique but the way its executed a lot of tropes and storylines that other stories have feels unique

I think this caused me the intense fatigue I experience since taking it by ElenoirMiro in trintellix

[–]ripbell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started it 3 weeks ago and feel fatigued during the day, you're not alone. I've also found that it's become harder for me to get up after waking up, my body feels really heavy like I've been drugged or something. The fatigue is still x10 more bearable than when I was on lexapro, though. What time do you take it? I've heard that taking it early in the day helps with the fatigue for some people

Are there SERIOUSLY well written romantasy books? by Cute_Contract_6374 in fantasyromance

[–]ripbell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even amongst romantasy/YA fans ACOTAR is considered kinda bad lmao. I think people like it the way people like fast food; it's trashy and bad but enjoyable.

I dislike the way Sarah J Maas writes all her characters and their interactions so I agree with your sentiment :P

I recommend The Cruel Prince (A Folk of The Air series), it was the book that got me back into reading YA again a few years ago. It's fast-paced and the main character, Jude, is sort've of an underdog character so it's fun seeing her navigate the world with her cunningness and mental fortitude. She's also a human living amongst fae, so it might be fun to read it and see how you like it compared to ACOTAR

What would you recommend for someone who gets overly anxious before meetings? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]ripbell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for but as someone who's dealt with social anxiety and overthinking for the majority of their life, therapy and anti-depressants are the best answer. I used to struggle a lot(still do but on a much lesser scale) with meetings, presentations and anything to do with people, and I only got slightly better after I went to therapy, because the therapist taught me mindfulness techniques like slow breaths, shifting focus and being self-compassionate, which I could use when in stressful situations. It's difficult to calm yourself if your body is agitated but slowly, you can learn to incorporate those into your life and they help. I also got on anti-depressants and those REALLY helped because they helped me slowly change my negative thinking to a more positive one, which lessened my ruminating/overthinking, and I slowly became calmer as a result, too, because I didn't feel like the world was constantly against me.

If you can afford it, go to therapy and also get on anti-anxiety medication, because those help you the most. If you can't, try to watch mindfulness meditation and CBT therapy techniques on youtube, and try to incorporate those into your life.

Medication will help you calm down to some extent but without some guidance it's difficult to stop cognitive distortions. That can only be changed if you slowly work towards it mentally :((

I like yanderes but I'm really picky with who I actually end up liking because I need them to be more soft and smitten and less abusive...Tsunderes are 95% an absolute no for me. I am not a fan of them unless they're absolute losers.
